Tywin Lannister's is probably the best presentation of a GoT character in the show and the acting from Charles Dance is just superb. The main difference between father and son is also made evident during their conversation.
There is also one thing about all of these actors : all their voices are so memorable. I could listen to them for all my life. Charles Dance's, particularly, is so great. But I think Mark Addy's (Robert Baratheon) is my very favorite. Man, I like it so much when he is in the History and Lore videos.
@@MightyPee Charles Dance, Mark Addy, Peter Dinklage and Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton)... all of them have really beautiful voices. I think some of them are voice actors as well.
Every single reactor doesn't believe Sam. He is 100% right. Mormont requested Jon personally. Starks have led the Watch for 1000s of years. As Ned's son, Jon would make a great lord commander someday.
Makes sense. My first thought was why wouldn’t Mormont make Benjen his steward. Then I realized he probably wasn’t in the Watch/Lord Commander when BenJen joined
There is some context that the show emitted that might have made viewers grasp this easier. Jon finds out that Alliser is not going to let Sam take his vows. Out of concern for his friend, he makes a passionate plea for Maester Aemon to take on Sam as his steward. Aemon tells the lord commander about this, which presumbly impresses him.
Jon's father is Warden of The North, he's been highly trained and has a leg up over most of the Watch, especially amongst new recruits. It totally makes sense that Mormont would want to groom him for a leadership role.
No. Littlefinger didnt duel Tyrion. He claims he bet against Tyrion. Petyr dueled Brandon Stark, Ned's older brother. He was to marry Cat. After the Mad King killed him, Cat married Ned to preserve the alliance between the North and the Riverlands. Cat's sister married Jon Aryn to bring them closer to the Vale.
To be fair to Renley, it’s more detailed in the books but Renley is very well liked by the common people, as he known to be charismatic and generous. That said, he is no warrior.
That is fair and well. Editing back I saw his sparkle a bit more. There’s always more to catch on a second watch which editing allows me to see in an interesting way. His head isn’t on a stake yet so I’ll be interested to see him develop
Your reaction is soooo good. Joffrey, The actor quit acting after this show because of all the death threats he got. He's SO GOOD as a villian. I am SO HAPPY you are doing this show.
"In 2014, Gleeson retired from acting after concluding his work in Game of Thrones. In an interview, he stated that while he had previously been interested in pursuing academia, he had since "gone off that idea"." So ostensibly, he wanted to pursue other things. But yeah, probably the death threats had something to do with it.🤣🤣 EDIT: He is acting again, according to Wiki.
He was recently interviewed and said that people actually treated him really well. Mostly because they believed that someone else was slapping him. The worst part of the fame was how most people kept asking him to say all the famous Joffrey lines. Also he was recently married. It was a very dull affair by Dothraki standards.
I also recall, from some behind-the-scenes stuff, that the other actors went out of their way to talk about what a great guy Gleeson is. They really loved working with him. I'm sure they knew he was getting hate mail, and sort of rallied 'round him...
He has returned to acting, although his latest role is an Irish mobster (alongside Alfie Allen), so he's not really decided to go for a likeable character for a change.
10:21 He lost a bet, not a duel to Tyrion. 15:32 Dothraki are afraid of water. They never used boat, nor thought of the notion. So it doesn't exist in their language. Dothraki are mens as long as they can ride their horses. So it's the best image she can use. 27:24 The actor received a letter from GRR Martin saying "Everyone hates you now. Good job!"
@ 15:43 - perhaps you missed the name drop at the Small Council in a previous episode, but it was revealed that Ser Jorah has been spying on the Targaryens and sending reports back to Lord Varys (the Spider). That’s how they knew she was pregnant. Jorah has a change of heart here and solidifies his loyalty to Daenerys by saving her from the poison.
Everyone needs to chill with all their “helpful” comments! Let her enjoy the damn show. Lipps is very intuitive, and figuring out a whole lot more than most reactors do! How about let her have an experience? Let her find things out on her own???
Ya know, I think we just haven’t gotten to see a lot of him at this point. He seems like a very quiet wallflower and didn’t have a strong voice so that’s where the feelings are coming from atm
@@LippsReacts It's always fun to see how different reactions can be! I totally fell for Renley in the episode before this one, on the hunt, when he snapped back at Robert's "Ah, for the good old days, when millions of peasants died in a horrible civil war!" nonsense. I literally applauded him during that scene, and it totally changed my opinion of him. It made such an impression on me!
Renley would make a very good King. No, he's not a warrior, but as he pointed out, that isn't nor should it be the defining Characteristic of a good king, King Robert was a great warrior, but a gluttonous king that sang the kingdom into debt. You have not met Stanis yet, but he is cold and hard, and perhaps a bit bitter, though not dishonest or unfair. He does not have Charisma, nor a supremely strong head for politics. Reply does have Charisma and a mind for politics and could garner the support of the people as well great and wealthy houses, and would at least have the wisdom to put in place a strong supportive council to make up for his deficienies.
I wish they did a better job in the first season in clarifying that the spider is Varys or just say the name Varys in that scene. Would help out a lot of confused people and clarify what was actually happening there.
I'm not sure if GRRM drew any inspiration from this, but the Cercei and Joffrey characters strongly remind me of Mordred and Morgana in the movie Excalibur.
Little Finger is dangerous and should never be trusted! He's very sneaky and manipulative. But will he be that way throughout his time on the show, or will he change his ways?
Fun fact, the stag that tywin is skinning was an actual stag. He learned how to skin animals just for that scene. Charles dance (Tywins actor) is amazing.❤
This is my favorite episode of season one and this was so enjoyable to watch😅😅 I WAS SOOO MAD when I first saw this lol but parcel out your anger - because it gets SO SO SOOO MUCH WORSE
When you finish this series, look Jack up. He’s quiet funny actually and is married to his long time girlfriend. He seems like an awesome guy that really knows how to act well.
I watch the Intros but they will not be a part of the RUclips edits. You can watch full length reactions on patreon but the intro with music and copyright time restraints will not be a part of the edited version unless it is something groundbreaking but seeing the foreshadowed destinations is not enough to make the edited cut.
I wonder why you didn't like Renley at this point. Yes he's not strong or imposing, but he would have been a wise leader in my opinion. Eh, you probably changed your mind later about him I expect.
One of the most genuine reactions at the end. You did not see that coming? What about Ned? Apparently, his foes are playing by a different set of rules in the Game of Thrones.

The Dothraki are only afraid of water that their horses can't drink, i.e. the ocean
Varys's nickname is the Spider. We learned last episode that Jorah was reporting to him.
Because he controls the spy web
Don’t Google anything. A simple Google of an actor will bring up spoilers.
Worth noting Tywin was butchering a stag, the sigil of his son-in-law's house...
