I think Wovenwar is a fine band. Yeah, I like As I Lay Dying, but this band is pretty good. It's just a different type of metal than AILD was. Also, people who are griping about the use of clean vocals; Black Sabbath Judas Priest, DIO, & Iron Maiden. Those four band pioneered heavy metal, and guess what, they had melodic singing.
Its weird in a good way because he asks to be held and to be seen in a loving way, and then he asks for death in, watch me burn, its a song that makes you think is my life being a worthy one
How CAN'T you compare!? When you consider 'As I Lay Dying' was actually what put these guy's on the map, you can't help but compare. Sorry guy's, but i have followed you(As I lay Dying) from the beginning. I'm not some crazed nerd that live's and breath's a band, i have a family and a busy life, and throughout my life, i have enjoyed alot of music, but As I lay Dying had something that no other band has, and will never have. It was raw, untouched, unfiltered emotion, brought to you by a man that not only managed to convey such energy through his vocals, but the timing, the build of each song is a masterpiece! I have to say that if i simply ignore that 'Wovenwar' where non-related to As I lay Dying, then i would stumble upon Wovenwar and think, yeah, these guy's sound good, and seem to related to the flat feeling most bands have, and the very 'same' feeling most bands have, but good. But, to me 'As I Lay Dying' hits you, and take's you deep into emotion, and for year's nothing can ever compare, or even come's near. Hope the future of Wovenwar work's out for you guy's, but the day you sound like As I Lay Dying, is a day that will never come sadly, after no one's fault, due to the long-lost band member, that to me, gave you guy's sound,sound that is beyond unrivalled. P.S I will keep my drumming stick i fought long and hard for, when i watched you(As I lay Dying) in London, and play back a sound that give's me shiver's every time............AILD

I never listened to AILD but I love this band and hope they continue for years to come and never change. I haven't listened much to these guys or this studio other than a few other bands but guessing by these guy's talent they would be much better off leaving metal blade. But not right away just a little bit longer for them to produce more music etc when they're known a bit more so when they leave it's not the stage of "Shit, Where do we begin" etc. But none the less whatever happens i'll follow these guys and support em to the end

i wish they had a little mixture of clean and distorted vocals to have the rhythm more aggressively flavored. although the instrumental is great. the versatility of the tone is pretty much AILD. just a little more aggressive to the vocals would be great
I may prefer As I Lay Dying's sound, but I dig that they have three guitarists. It's too bad they don't utilize that more, though. They could have some really nice counterpoint-based dual lead guitar melodies

Loved AILD, and I love this band. The clean vocals round out the sound nicely.
Favorite song off the album. That chorus is amazing and Phil's solo that starts at 2:12 is my favorite "moment" from the entire album.
