I really don't understand all the hate. Musically this is a damn solid melodic metalcore album. But vocally I think Shane really holds his own and makes the band unique among a saturated market of carbon copies.
Their debut album impressed me enough to like them after the dissolution of AILD. It took me awhile to move on from what Tim did and like this band, but it. Was worth it. As for this album, it's a nice follow-up from their debut opus, though I was expecting too much. Silhouette, World On Fire, 130, Censorship, Bloodletter and Honor Is Dead are my fave tracks.
So much Dustin Kensrue in those vocals. Cleans and Screams. Definitely feel it on World on Fire and that verse in Compass? The "Oh what horrors await me" line is a straight Dustin melody from Red Sky. Luckily Dustin is a great vocalist and Shane pulls it off very well here. Not sure why this album isn't getting more buzz?
I LOVE THIS ALBUM! It honestly took a bit to grow on me but it is pretty incredible. The self titled album will continue to be my favorite offering from Wovenwar for now but, who knows what the future holds.
This album is Amazing! Great riffs, Great lyrics, and I think the vocals are much more versatile than the debut album. As someone who will always be a huge AILD fan by heart, I think Wovenwar are doing their own thing in an awesome way.
Love this album guys! Wonderful melodies, great pacing & the vocals are so clean. Don't listen to any of those people who try and compare to you As I Lay Dying . . . their just having a tough time excepting this is a different band. I was super bummed about what happened to AILD because they hold a special place in my metal upbringing. But now with Wovenwar I can be happy again . . . its not AILD but its something new and just as special. Can't wait to see what you do in the future and keep that unique sound alive!
Im here for the guitars, nick and phil are an awesome duo and they've inspired me so much with AILD to learn their songs and to improve myself over the years. I was really glad to hear that they've both started over with wovenwar and i really dig what they've put out so far. You can clearly hear that they themselves have progressed their playing and sound which intrigues me even more. Shane is doing an awesome job singing, clean and distorted alike. Progression for an artist is essential and i find it unfair that they are being judged for somebody in their past that didnt live up to his own words.
Hell yeah guys! This is the album I wanted when I first heard the debut. A lot more higher energy sections to balance out the sweeping melodic moments. I liked the self-titled well enough, but I could never shake the feeling that they were afraid of stepping in Tim's shadow, so the whole album felt very reserved to me. Here it feels like they said fuck it and really found their sound.
A really solid album!! The mixture between the strong and soft is perfect and the voice is on the right spot!! One of the best bands in the last years. They did a great good job in composition as always!
really great album honestly, coming from aild album's this holds its own in a different way. like a mix between Oh, sleeper, aild, underoath, and especially thrice.
I only just discovered these guys the other day when they were featured on a local radio station- OMG THEY'RE GREAT! I've been looking for some kind of new music for a while but nothing caught my ear til these guys. :) Gorgeous music!
Now that AILD is back...Stop arguiing...!!Wovenwar is musically better , or in another level , than AILD..and I think lyrically also.. But , that said, AILD is unique, and the sound and power they all have together as a band, makes it what it is... Something very special to me too!! Long live both bands...and hope Tim has finally changed his mind Wovenwar is truly epic sound..Voices and drumming, composition, guitars , make them one of the best late bands out there =)
Here's my opinion. Wovenwar has absolutely no ties with AILD. They are two completely different bands. A good way to explain this is Pantera and Damageplan. When Pantera fell through, Vinnie and Dimebag buried Pantera's sound for good. It was done and had no connection to Damageplan. After Dimebag's passing and HellYeah formed, Damageplan's sound was buried as well. Those are Vinnie's words. That being said, good album. I look forward to hearing more from Wovenwar.
Compared to their first album, personally i was a fan of the faster pace that their self titled had. Then again that maintained the old AILD sound more. If this is going to be a new project all together it's understandable they are taking a new route to attract a new crowd of those who may not be overly fond or familiar to the original band at all. It's good, Is it comparable to AILD good? Hardly, but a good album none the less. I think we (long time fans) are all just expecting an As I Lay Dying reboot and will be disappointed if we continue holding those hopes.

I just found it. pretty happy that i just found it.
tim was good i miss him but this band is a step up from aild and josh's vocals are amazing and nick is still the best guitarist if people want aild then listen to them its like all bands start heavy but after years there go a little main stream but still this band is great thumbs up .
There will always be hate on any new band that is made up of musicians from another kick ass killer band. With that said this is some great music as well and shows how great they are as musicians to be able to go in a different direction and still knock it the fuck out.
Dear everyone comparing Wovenwar to AILD, the old members of AILD clearly stated that this was a different style, so it's really unfair to compare it and the new vocalist to what once was. If you don't like it? leave and go listen to AILD. If you do like it? Cool keep listening.
No. it's NOT "all the dudes"; the MOST significant is missing ... and this emo whining vocalist only takes the edge off everyone else's musicianship. Well, actually, he also makes me sick ... KNOWING what COULD be, while hearing this nancy bitch.
Can someone help me understand why I like the screaming on this album? I normally don't like screaming. Is it the type of scream? The way it fits into the mix? Something else???
Not too bad. Prefer As I Lay Dying since it is much heavier, but this is still good. They are both completely different bands and music, so can't compare.
Their first album was something new and fresh. A blend of metalcore and Gothenburg with clean vocals which I liked. This seems like a lazier effort so far with more generic elements and overplayed riffs... however, the songs still have that certain fun and catchiness. I hope the second half of the album proves me wrong.
A decade ago, maybe. But these days it's so easy to pirate music that they might as well upload it themselves so they can at least get ad revenue on it.
I think it's good and just a bit above the generic stuff. A high school version of myself might have enjoyed this a bit more than I do now, though. Just personal taste.
Josh Magnum Not really in my eyes. It's not the same style they did with AILD and Shane improves a lot compared to the debut. Tim was great back then, but I like this exactly how it is ;-)
marten.. omg every douche i swear.. Michael jackson banged little kids, Did that make anyone listen to his music anyless? Tim was the best in the game when AILD was around. What kind of person behind the music doesn't matter. Tim is out and he said he's been writing while inside, Pissing off the jail guards. So im excited for Tims return. This Generic sounding nickelback-esk sound isn't for me.
I don't understand why people are constantly living in the past and can't accept this band for what it is. This is not AILD. Let it go already. Anyway, this album is really good! My top 3 songs are Confession, Stones Thrown and Bloodletter.
Milos Buncic As I Laying Dying was so much better, man. No hate, I still enjoy Wovenwar. But As I Lay Dying has always been one of my all time favorite bands. They had so much passion, and emotion behind everything they did, vocally/instrumentally. Wovenwar doesn't quite display any of their true talent like As I Lay Dying.
I understand man. The thing is, we can either accept Wovenwar for what they are, or not listen to them at all. Yes the music is certainly different from AILD, but we have to keep in mind again that was a different band. Shane is a different vocalist from Tim. It's just a different band and I'm okay with that. Rock on mate! \m/
I think it is the differences of the vocal, for the fans of all AILD, the attack of TIM's vocal is all over our head for years already. I think we feel the oddly unsatisfying emotion inside when the background are similar but the vocal. I think it takes time to transition may be? i dunno, for me it do take some times to realize this. (just my thought)
theCaT Gamer Air You have a good point, yes indeed. I think it will take some time for people to get into Shane's style. I personally like the more aggressive style of vocals on this album, versus their debut which had very few harsh vocals. You can really tell with this album, lyrically they went all out. Instrumentally, I think it's as good as the first album, if not better. Overall, this album grew on me a lot faster than the first.
I can't stand AILD, the vocalist just screams the whole time. That's not music, it's just loud noise. I want to hear the great instrumentals of this band but with a quality singer and that's exactly what Wovenwar is. He isn't the best vocalist but certainly something that doesn't grind my ear drums to death. There are plenty of bands with harsh vocals out there to satisfy your ear hatred.
It took me a bit to leave As I Lay Dying for this band, but man I don't regret it. I guess it's because I'm a guitarist and prefer good guitar over good vocals lol. Although I do love the vocals in both, the guitar is where it's at!
I saw Jordan mancino perform with Unearth back in September. He was fucking awesome. This shit here is weak. When Tim gets out we'll have As I Lay Dying back.
I'm quoting someone else on this page: "Tim isnt in for life but the rest of the band doesnt want anything to do with him anymore. AILD is dead unfortunately, theyve said themselves Wovenwar isnt AILD, its not supposed to be or sound like AILD. They are trying to make it very clear that they are not AILD and that its dead, buried and never coming back theyre sick of people not letting that go already." So stop whining and asking for AILD, it's dead.
Well, I don't hate it, but I'm not really digging it either. It's one of those times where I feel a bit meh about a album. While I will admit not every album has to set the world on fire, I can't help but say this is pretty mediocre.

1. Confession 0:00
2. Censorship 3:54
3. Honor Is Dead 7:48
4. Lines in the Sand 11:50
5. World on Fire 15:41
6. Compass 18:59
7. Stones Thrown 22:37
8. Cascade 25:54
9. Silhouette 29:21
10. Blood letter 32:26
11. 130 36:09
I really don't understand all the hate. Musically this is a damn solid melodic metalcore album. But vocally I think Shane really holds his own and makes the band unique among a saturated market of carbon copies.
I think most of it has to do with people just being unable to get over the fact that this is a different band from AILD. Wovenwar is still great imo.
i know, right?
What's this madness?
Two different bands members get together and made a group and it sounds.......different?!?!?!?!?
But how could this beeee?
saw them on Oct 20 in ft. worth, Texas with soilwork..
great band live!
Rail Club! I was there! Good show!
Sam Paquette
hell yea..
that many good bands, I was surprised it wasn't sold out...
Fuck... What a bad ass show!
Their debut album impressed me enough to like them after the dissolution of AILD. It took me awhile to move on from what Tim did and like this band, but it. Was worth it.
As for this album, it's a nice follow-up from their debut opus, though I was expecting too much. Silhouette, World On Fire, 130, Censorship, Bloodletter and Honor Is Dead are my fave tracks.
one of the best albums I've heard in a long time can't believe they still have band wagoners hating on them
So much Dustin Kensrue in those vocals. Cleans and Screams. Definitely feel it on World on Fire and that verse in Compass? The "Oh what horrors await me" line is a straight Dustin melody from Red Sky. Luckily Dustin is a great vocalist and Shane pulls it off very well here. I LOVE THIS ALBUM! It honestly took a bit to grow on me but it is pretty incredible. The self titled album will continue to be my favorite offering from Wovenwar for now but, who knows what the future holds.
I've always loved the back up guys vocals. And always wished he had more mic time. This band is that wish come true.
This album is Amazing! Great riffs, Great lyrics, and I think the vocals are much more versatile than the debut album.
As someone who will always be a huge AILD fan by heart, I think Wovenwar are doing their own thing in an awesome way.

This Band no longer needs people, who mourn because of AILDs breakup. Wovenwar got my full respect for producing such nice piece of metalmusic!
Am i the only one who thinks this is a beautiful album?
Nope!
Hahahaha!!! Of course you don't @Metal Blade Records!!! So am I, awesome album!!!
No, its amazing!
it sounds like someone taking a shit on an electric fence
yes from all the 32k views and almost 600 likes you are the only one
A really solid album!! The mixture between the strong and soft is perfect and the voice is on the right spot!! One of the best bands in the last years. They did a great good job in composition as always!
I am in love with this album. Bloodletter and Stones thrown CRUSH
Heard "Lines in the Sand" on XM this morning. Love the mix of singing and heavy metal/screaming. The guitar is pretty awesome on that one as well.
So insanely underrated
The more I am stunned about how great this album is, the more shocked I am seeing these few views... they deserve way more attantion!
really great album honestly, coming from aild album's this holds its own in a different way. like a mix between Oh, sleeper, aild, underoath, and especially thrice.
i love how the vocals are crunchy on here compared to first album. Bringing out that "OH SLEEPER" vibe!!!
I only just discovered these guys the other day when they were featured on a local radio station- OMG THEY'RE GREAT! I've been looking for some kind of new music for a while but nothing caught my ear til these guys. :) Gorgeous music!
crazy how little of views this has
They had to move away from their old AILD style in a way, people can't accept the fact that Tim is responsible for his own actions.
This album is amazing, woven war was good in their first album, but this one is anazing.
so this is basically a not so heavy and more popular version of Oh, Sleeper...
This was what I was looking for in an album great guitars great vocals clean and screaming amazing drums this album has it all
W końcu growling ! Tego brakowało byłym członkom As I Lay Dying ;)
Man does I love the drumming of Jordan Mancino combined with the voice of Josh Gilbert, they're both so powerfull and complete :D
Can't get used to the vocals going to listen to the old Aild
Now that AILD is back...Stop arguiing...!!Wovenwar is musically better , or in another level , than AILD..and I think lyrically also..
But , that said, AILD is unique, and the sound and power they all have together as a band, makes it what it is...
Something very special to me too!!
Long live both bands...and hope Tim has finally changed his mind
Wovenwar is truly epic sound..Voices and drumming, composition, guitars , make them one of the best late bands out there =)
This band is is okay at most. The vocalist is meh.
Now that As I Lay Dying are back! The kings
This album is fucking awesome! I always run into Nick and Jordan around town, they're super cool, nice metal dudes!!
Yeahhhhh huehuehue I liek rock and roll music!
Confession would have fit great on the last AILD record musically
Hope they do a european tour soon
Here's my opinion. Wovenwar has absolutely no ties with AILD. They are two completely different bands. A good way to explain this is Pantera and Damageplan. i was kind of praying for listen mdm like this again, this is the good continue of in flames
nothing will ever top matter of time
Wish these dudes would get together again. I won't listen to anything with Tim on it anymore. I cant.
Man you guys never fail to impress. Amazing!!
Compared to their first album, personally i was a fan of the faster pace that their self titled had. Then again that maintained the old AILD sound more. First time hearing Wovenwar after
reading about em for a while now. Not really
my kind of thing. Oh well, I'll check out Serpentine Dominion
in a bit.
chiefmachine24 SD is much better
it really is. I've always preferred harsh vocals tho over....whatever this is called. Corpsegrinder never disappoints!
^Clean singing is what its called. Don't act like a dumbass.
There will always be hate on any new band that is made up of musicians from another kick ass killer band. With that said this is some great music as well and shows how great they are as musicians to be able to go in a different direction and still knock it the fuck out.
masterpiece
I do miss as I lay dying but these guys definitely pulled off a great band.
Dear everyone comparing Wovenwar to AILD, the old members of AILD clearly stated that this was a different style, so it's really unfair to compare it and the new vocalist to what once was. If you don't like it? leave and go listen to AILD. If you do like it? Cool keep listening.
If you don't know it's all the dudes from as I lay dying it's decent. But knowing that makes me expect much more. Especially musically
No. it's NOT "all the dudes"; the MOST significant is missing ... and this emo whining vocalist only takes the edge off everyone else's musicianship. Well, actually, he also makes me sick ... KNOWING what COULD be, while hearing this nancy bitch.
I heard somewhere that some of the songs on this album are about/inspired by The Cosmere by Brandon Sanderson? Correct me if im wrong 👀.
Can someone help me understand why I like the screaming on this album? I normally don't like screaming. Is it the type of scream? The way it fits into the mix? Something else???
This is dope af, but AILD was and always will be my favorite band of all time
Stones Thrown. so good
Amazing
dayuuum this is soooo good!!!worth the wait

That was short. but I enjoyed it anyway
Awesome music
Not bad. Why do they upload the album in it's entirety? Doesn't that hurt sales in a way?
Justin H. there's still ad revenue on this
A decade ago, maybe. But these days it's so easy to pirate music that they might as well upload it themselves so they can at least get ad revenue on it.
Wonder what the inspiration behind the lyrics to "Honor Is Dead" is.
As I Lay Dying ozzfest 2017 comeback with Tim ?!?! :D that would be the shit
Fuck me, this is not bad compared to the first album.
But still, I miss tim and his vocals.
I think it's good and just a bit above the generic stuff. A high school version of myself might have enjoyed this a bit more than I do now, though. Just personal taste.
Album magique!!!!!
Muy chuletón este disco, ya se extrañaban esos riffs tan potentes y melódicos. Ya liberen a Lambesis !
I hear the as I lay dying in it sick album love it
That's because their all former members of AILD except the lead vocalist.
Way better than first album
Time to welcome Tim back..
If Jesus can forgive Tim so can As I lay dying! Lets gooooooooooooooo plus we can get Oh, Sleeper back together!!!!
What pedal makes the sound at 2:51 ? I need iiiittttt
Confession fucking awesome song
I honestly liked the debut album a bit more.
Really nice :)
Honestly this second album sounds more like Oh Sleeper than anything else, not that it's a bad thing
Missing that power that Tim Lambesis brought...
Josh Magnum Not really in my eyes. It's not the same style they did with AILD and Shane improves a lot compared to the debut.
Tim was great back then, but I like this exactly how it is ;-)
I miss Tim A LOT, LOL! He just got out so maybe he'll start something new!
metalmarten
You forgot Steroids on that list
marten.. omg every douche i swear..
She typically shits the bed... but who is smelling, right?

lol guys this ain't AILD, it's a completely different band. 'tis a pretty mint album!
I don't understand why people are constantly living in the past and can't accept this band for what it is. This is not AILD. Let it go already. Anyway, this album is really good! My top 3 songs are Confession, Stones Thrown and Bloodletter.

Do they change vocalist?
Nope, it's still Shane Blay!
Miss Tim Lambesis :((
It took me a bit to leave As I Lay Dying for this band, but man I don't regret it. I guess it's because I'm a guitarist and prefer good guitar over good vocals lol. Although I do love the vocals in both, the guitar is where it's at!
I do like this, but I will have to share my own opinion. Those screams need to be deeper, and no, not Tim deeper. Great job though!
Time to say goodbye to this garbage now Tim is back.
man, tim really made aild
I saw Jordan mancino perform with Unearth back in September. He was fucking awesome. This shit here is weak. When Tim gets out we'll have As I Lay Dying back.
you gotta admit that this album is way way better than their first one, i think the heaviest they go the better they sound
AKmumu Not really that heavy.Have you not heard As I Lay Dying?
Boogie Baeza i wasnt comparing it to anything im just saying they're harder than before, and yes AILD i my favorite band lol
I'm quoting someone else on this page:
"Tim isnt in for life but the rest of the band doesnt want anything to do with him anymore. AILD is dead unfortunately, theyve said themselves Wovenwar isnt AILD, its not supposed to be or sound like AILD. They are trying to make it very clear that they are not AILD and that its dead, buried and never coming back theyre sick of people not letting that go already."
So stop whining and asking for AILD, it's dead.
Jeffrey Vermeulen They aren't dead just put on hold.Calm yourself.Don't get your panties in a bunch
Well, I don't hate it, but I'm not really digging it either. It's one of those times where I feel a bit meh about a album. While I will admit not every album has to set the world on fire, I can't help but say this is pretty mediocre.
i swear! i hear matt tuck from bfmv singing!
Pedro Alves Not that close, but a little similar
I miss AILD
Free Tim
he out
DOES SOMEONE ELSE LISTENED IN FLAMES STYLE ON BLOODLETTER?
I like the first album more. On this one nearly every song is knida the same and sound exacly like every other Core Metal band who trys to be a mix of Bullet For YM Valentine and Bring Me The Horizon.
I agree!
One of the best albums ive listened to in quite awhile, and their first was good, but mediocre imho
Tim Lambesis huehuehue
as i lay dying reunite now thanks please im welcome.
Whats the tune?
C
Josue Elizondo sounds more like drop b to me
come back tım
More metal Thrice-of-old. Get back with Tim boys
I'm gay for this band
this is great musically, but Tim belongs in this band. The new singer doesn't have what made the former band monstrous.
