Thanks for this helpful video. I bought the same one as you used as I had one from a long time ago and never had any luck installing. With this one and your explanation it was very easy to install. Now I had to actually read the instructions to realize the pink wire doesn’t need to be hooked up either as my engine is gas not diesel. So besides that the video was very helpful and appreciate DIY videos. Thanks for the tips and info and keep posting XJ stuff 🤙🏽
So I finished it all and got it working, just the horn doesn’t beep when I lock or unlock, and the light doesn’t come on, also I have a random purple wire not connected to anything and not among the wires you said we didn’t need. Can’t seem to figure out how to get the steady blinkers and rears either, not a big deal but wondering if I kissed anything, otherwise, very satisfied!
I personally wouldn't cut the ignition wires I think 🤔 is better if you just strip out about 1 inch and then make a hole true the bare wires and then apply soldering
Nice video - thanks for sharing! Need to install in my ‘96 XJ and make it a BABE magnet! Did the recall fix the wiring issue? Saw no links for the package - where can I get the “cool start”?….
I got to the part where I have the wires through the firewall and I'm stuck with where the red/black wire with the fuse that says Lights is to be connected to. Their website doesn't help and your video is pretty much what I followed since I also have an XJ. I don't know if the wire just goes onto the power block you got or to a light wire. A reply would be great! Keep up the great work on your videos.
Hey was I supposed to use the negative power distribution terminal or the positive one for the power cords? You mentioned in the video there was a black cover that goes on it, that would make it the negative power distribution terminal.
Could you link the websites you used for wiring diagrams ? This seems really cool to do, I'm ready to flex on my dad who bought an 80k truck with remote start.
Oh! Also among the lights not working, are the dashboard lights, whether I use the key or the fob they won’t come on. Don’t know what that’s about, it’s pretty important so if you can help I’d appreciate it
My daughter fallowed your great video. I double checked all the work and connections. But now we’re noting getting any communication from remote to head unit. I called tech support, they told me about the antenna wire recal. I know it was wired wrong can you tell me what’s the arrangement of your 3 wires on the white plug and the same on the black side of the wire. I do see a blk/w that’s is in the center of one plug, but not the other. Thanks
So if I’m looking at the face of the module with the white plugs on top and the little black one on bottom from left to right the white one goes green, red, blue and the black one goes black, black, black/white
Need help in the second part … where you bring out the grey , red/white and power wires , I can’t find the grey wire that’s supposed to connect to the red/white one?
Thanks for the video. I installed it yesterday. The horn will not sound and the headlights don’t come on like yours does. I didn’t see in the instructions where the headlights were supposed to come on. The park lights come on just fine, but no headlights. The factory security system will not allow it to remain running after remit start turns on. It seems like that is a program setting, so I will work through it. The no horn issue bugs me…. Could that be a program issue as well?
You should be able to adjust the horn settings using the programming/valet button. If not then there is either an issue with wiring or an issue with the unit itself.
I want to put one of these in mine but what about the immobilizer and the old remote that comes with the original key? mine is year 1997 of the same model as yours, how do I disable the immobilizer?
At the time of this video I had a 3 inch lift with 31” tires. No trimmed fenders. I have since lifted to a 4.5” with long arms, 33” tires and trimmed fenders which I have videos on as well.
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It has auto locks and such. But my question is will this still work on my jeep even though I don't have a factory key fob with remote unlock?
Okay Soni have a 1998 Cherokee and I'm trying to find the Horn wire. I have a (all red and green stripe) ( a all black and red stripe) ( and a all black red or brown color stripe)????? It's hard to tell. I jumped 12v to each of the 3 wires and got no horn signal. Do you know what wire it is? Where my wires go into the plug, seems to be a different position as yours?
All you need is a way to provide power to the red wires that I connected to the distribution block. There is a power wire that goes into the ignition switch that I think they can connect to. It will work for one without power windows and locks. You can just cut those extra wires short and not use them.
@@ProjectVenture sweet thanks! I’m definitely ordering this and taking it to a shop to be installed because I’m kinda retarded and will definitely fry my electrical system trying to do it myself.
This is the first vehicle I have ever had it on and now that i have it I don't know why I never did it before and its going in all my vehicles now, lol.
so why are you doing all these extra steps like hooking it up to a power block instead of just hooking it up reagular. also, does your method have anything to do with people saying auto start isnt good for older cars?
alright, i made three comments and you never replied. I actually used a positive jumper cable cord since I couldn’t find an 8 gauge cord and that works perfectly fine

The red and black wire with the in-line fuse would connect positive power from the battery. I connected mine to the power block I put in.
Hey was I supposed to use the negative power distribution terminal or the positive one for the power cords? You mentioned in the video there was a black cover that goes on it, that would make it the negative power distribution terminal.
It was all positive.
Never go by color. It’s not a perfect standard

I am honestly not sure. The only thing i could think of would be a bad fuse possibly.

As far as I know. Not sure about this model exactly but they have them that will bypass the immobilizer somehow.
What is your tire size? Do you trim the fenders? Do you lift it?

It’s a universal kit so it should. The install may be different though.
