Well it sucks. But the most annoying part this is normal and known in the industry. And game media waited to make a story about this until one of the big guy is exposed. Looks like BG3 also miscredited translator and no one made a news. Because big name like Nintendo brings engagement and clicks. Honestly game media is not qualified for this job. All they care is engagement.
I remember watching the credits for Star Wars Episode 8 and was surprised to see that they even credited the guy that holds the ladder. Ever since, I always make it a point to watch credits in games to see if anything I wouldn't expect stands out.
I’ve been saying for a long while now Square should just sell Xenogears to Nintendo so Monolith Soft can remake it. Instead they’re taking the “that’s my IP to sit on and do nothing with!” route.
I don't get the idea behind not crediting the work someone did on the game. Credits get longer and longer with special thanks sections, sections for higher-ups at the publisher who probably didn't do much with the particular game, and even sections for all the babies born to devs while it the game was made. Yet someone has a 10 year NDA on a released game?
I imagine the 10yr NDA is nintendos attempt to make sure any and all games that arent released yet will never be leaked early through a resume before their launch, at the detriment of the (temporary) employees.
A .hack remake would be amazing! Especially since the main plot revolves around an AI and actually says something very meaningful and surprisingly even more relevant today with the boom in machine learning and AI.
"They have done a lot of damage" no, what are you smoking, Johnathan ??? Halo infinite's story is great, multiplayer is amazing and the gameplay is the best it's ever been in the series !
I understand the use of a long term NDA, for reasons like the game didn't get published/cancelled or was delayed, as to mitigate the potential reputational damage to the company in the event that someone is now talking publicly about work on an incomplete product. But, and this is a huge but, THE NDA SHOULD BE VOIDED WHEN THE PRODUCT IS RELEASED! To do anything other than this feels intentionally malicious. There is no, ABSOLUTELY no justifiable reason to hold the NDA in effect and not credit the work of people after the product was completed and released.
What Nintendo is doing is very scummy. What’s the point of working for a game company when you know you’re not gonna get credited for the work and contribution you do for them?
Do you get credited for your work? I don't. I just get paid. Don't see why gaming companies should be any different. If I want credit, I do my own private work.
I try my best to ignore them but I hate the popups. I'm glad on Switch there aren't any achievements built into the experience and I only need to worry about if the game has them.

They won’t do an OG collection of infection mutation outbreak and quarantine their game play loop hasn’t aged well at all they would have to redo combat system in the game
They are afraid of losing intellectual property and corporate secrets. They are also eliminating disgruntled employees from becoming feirce competition--so these NDA's tend to also have a non-competition clause as well. I was under an NDA before. I know some barbers who's under a non complet cause. They are everywhere and in multiple industries.
I could see a situation where 343 and Raven make the next Halo's multiplayer suite, while maybe id and 343 work together with the campaign and someone else makes a battle royale / extraction mode. I think that would be best instead of depending on 343 to do it all. Maybe that is what this guy is getting hints about and they think it means 343 won't do development, who knows.
Rebooting Halo is not the answer. Infinite has an 87 on metacritic for a reason, it had a great story and great gameplay. The problem was that it launched with not much content. 343i just needs more devs, like a permanent support studio like Certain Affinity.
Everyone likes to pick on nintendo but forget that they were almost bankrupt back in the day for not protecting their IPs. On top of that, they are strictly gaming. They shouldn't leave folks out from the credits, but i understand the NDA. I had to sign a 10 year NDA on glass techniques i was taught to protect my artists technique and style while he taught the next generation. Not defending them on not giving credit, but i understand why they are so protective. Plus, japan has a whole other culture completely different from the west, the west also forgets that...
I've been saying for years that Microsoft should have IW make a game called Call of Duty: ODST. It'd be a good crossover for COD and Halo. Maybe it can get fans of both IPs on board.
With achievements on dolphin, it makes me want to emulate games like Thousand Year Door rather than play the remake on the switch. Nintendo needs to get it together for next generation.
While it sucks the translators don't get credited, after seeing how people on twitter criticize some games' translations being to creative and even being not exactly like the original text, I can somewhat understand why. And wasn't there some people even advocate vg localizers and translators being replaced by AI?
They weren't mad that it was 'too creative' or 'not being exactly like the original text' they were mad that they were putting western leftist propaganda in the localizations.
Seriously, I don't get why they would want to advocate for human translators with machines? Because, aren't these same people the libertarian tech bros who worship billionares like Elon Musk as hard working job creators bolstering bolstering the economy?(But then again, according to those people; people loving their jobs, and big businesses treating their employees like they're expendable is fine when it's being done to people they don't like.)
I really don’t think Zelda will defeat Ganon. It’s always been said that only Link with the Master Sword can truly beat him. I’ve thought since this game was announced that Link will be the one to finish off the game. Zelda can pretty much only deal Ganon as seen in BOTW.

without accountants those team will just run their budget to the ground and fail to finish making the game because of not having money anymore, when all you have are programmers, vanillaware and their constant running out of money and the president having to fork over personal money is what you get
John is glossing over the single good part of the current Amazon Fire Stick. The Wifi 6E means that at relatively close distance to a standard wifi router(~40 ft) it can get the same speed as LAN cables. In my personal case, its an average of 55 MBps.
Funny how not long ago, people were hating on achievements. Nobody goes for them, nobody wants em. Now, "Achievements " are in soo many platforms, and no one cares about trophies. Lol
Was that "not long ago" 15 years ago or something? ^^;
Spawn Wave, I’m surprised you haven’t talked about EA College Football 25. It’s been 11 years since NCAA 14 and there was a lot of hype for this game. It wasn’t just considered a Madden reskin… Anyways great content as always.
I mean, welcome to capitalism ?
The first four original dot hack games remastered or remade?! Hope so PS4,PS5,Steam
I may be a little late, but the Zelda and Link situation could mean a co-op in Echoes of Wisdom.
I remember watching the credits for Star Wars Episode 8 and was surprised to see that they even credited the guy that holds the ladder. Ever since, I always make it a point to watch credits in games to see if anything I wouldn't expect stands out.
.hack, digital devil, cocoon, xenogear😉 all need remasters
Also legend of legaia!
Is that short for Jade Cocoon?
Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2
EVERYONE should watch the opening intro for DDS 2 at least once. It still holds up, and it was a PS2 game.
Good point, actually. 😊 The moment babies are mentioned, developers have no excuse not to put anyone and everyone involved.
Suicide Squad: Killed the Justice League is now free with Amazon Prime Gaming. Also Rise of the Tomb Raider. Both EGS, but it’s free, so 🤷♀️.
Gotta love the experience of being a plumber every 5 seconds in BioShock.
Worked for Mario.
Bill McDonaugh (Rapture's Plumber General) has more than ONE Audio Diary on the subject and most of them don't paint his duties in rosy light...
Bioshock 1 and 2 are still worth playing to this day. Hoping for a return to form with Bioshock 4.
"They have done a lot of damage" no, what are you smoking, Johnathan ??? Halo infinite's story is great, multiplayer is amazing and the gameplay is the best it's ever been in the series !
I been begging for the first 4 .hack games to get remastered or a new game but we keep getting SAO. CC2 always say its in BanCo hands
Probably has something to do with the paycheck you get? How many software companies credit devs or translators or UI artists at all?
Do you get credited for your work? I don't. I just get paid. Don't see why gaming companies should be any different. If I want credit, I do my own private work.
Bro, this is not just an Nintendo problem. It happens everywhere. Welcome to adulthood.
@@Vyz3r if it happens everywhere, then this shouldn’t be mentioned in the news AT ALL.
And taking credit is the least of adulthood problems thank you very much.
I don't like achievements. As a completionist I feel the need to do them, and I hate how they end up guiding how you should engage with the game.
I try my best to ignore them but I hate the popups. I'm glad on Switch there aren't any achievements built into the experience and I only need to worry about if the game has them.
@@QKlilx yeap the pop ups make it even worse. 😆
There are many things Nintendo don't have on their systems I wish they did, achievements is not one of them.
@QKlilx you do know you can turn that off right? Well with trophies anyway, not sure with achievements but assume it is possible
@@solid_justice5855 I play games exclusively on my Switch so I wouldn't know.
Yesterday, I just ordered an AM4 Ryzen 9 5900X, with a 61% discount. Early discounts are real!
I am one of those who actually watch credits the first time and hearing this action from Nintendo is really disgusting.
These people worked hard helping out and they don't even get the respect they deserve.
Crediting can also help to expose certain bad actors within Treehouse, since some Twitter/X users who claim to be part of Treehouse have gleefully admitted to trying to push agendas in localizations.
I personally am thankful for the translators even if they do get some things wrong sometimes. I always explore all dialogue options and talk to everyone in games.
For cod early access isn't this exactly what Phil said they wouldn't do while in court and under oath lol
I worked for a youtube channel for about a year and had to quit because I wasn't getting paid well and not being credited. I can't imagine putting my blood, sweat, and tears into a game for no inkling of my work to be credited simply because it wasn't enough to beat standards
Anxious for spawnwave to show the gamecube flippydrive when it releases. Should be soon.
Make sure you pick it up
In that article you read saying even Microsoft says they are not confident in 343 made me laugh 😂
I really hope new Devs of Halo actually care about the franchise
Thank you Jon for saying the USD price of these games on sale instead of just the percentages this time 😁
Nintendo hates emulation but won't give their own employees credit. I am not sure if that makes sense but I am trying here.
Kinda sad people were excited over the addition of pointless achievements, most unnecessary addition to gaming over the years.
I was able to scoop the star wars heritage pack for the switch at 33% off! Great deal for that bundle of 7 games.
Elgato wave 3 mic is on a big sale since you mentioned listing em, so are the arms but oddly only certain color arms
I ordered a portable monitor portable battery and a tablet stand all for about 68 bucks. Don’t usually jump on Prime deals but there’s lots of good ones.
Grandma fixes the servers?
18:10 I'm glad most of the people here don't have mush for brains.
Could be a way for Nintendo to try to make sure people are available for future projects.
If 343 is only doing halo then why does halo infinite still have the same bugs now that it had at launch?
That's so crazy. It's video games for crying out loud not the secret service. They aren't hiring hitmen but translators. Lol.
I’m not sure what timeline I’ve found myself in to be somewhat in anticipation for a Call of Duty game after Ghosts, but I feel like I got the bad ending.
What did you think of Cold War? Because Black Ops 6 is going to be made by all the same people, except with less features and an always-online campaign, lol.
@@BetweenTheLyons - Since the original MW3, I’ve only bought Infinite Warfare [only played Zombies with my wife and daughter], Modern Warfare 2019 [still have yet to play it at all], and Cold War [played maybe three rounds of Zombies]. I didn’t play enough of it to have an opinion really ‘cause I got into other games right away, but I haven’t really been into COD since MW3.
People always say they are not buying the next cod game and then it ends up being one of the best selling games of the year.
Both can be true. I'm not buying the next COD game, but it's still going to be one of the best-selling games of the year. I'm just not one of the people buying the game.
@G360LIVE yeah I just don't know how these polls asking about if your buying the next cod game is always a land slide in favor of no but then the game sells like crazy.
You gotta cover MigFlash. How MigSwitch is rebranding to MigFlash to avoid legal woes. This has to make the news!
This whole NDA disclaimer reminds of back in the day, when developers forced workers to use pen names when developing games, so they wouldn’t be poached by other developers. As rotten of a practice it is, it’s not anything new 😕.
.hack, Digital Devil Saga and the Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha games need remasters.
19:01 It would be awesome if you beat the new Zelda game and there is a second quest where you can play the entire game over as Link instead. They haven't had a 2nd quest in Zelda/new game+ in a long time that I can remember.
Probably the one time I will criticise Nintendo but unfortunately translators going uncredited is normal within the game industry but I feel people like to highlight Nintendo doing it because it’s on trend right now to highlight everything Nintendo does that is controversial.
What I want the most out of a new Bioshock is that it would be a new System Shock instead.
They won’t do an OG collection of infection mutation outbreak and quarantine their game play loop hasn’t aged well at all they would have to redo combat system in the game
Bioshock 2/Minerva's Den is the best of the series
Jedi Survivor credits run for over 30 minutes. I wish they credited less people 😅
If you're wondering what that BioShock 4 image is like, click the pfp. Prolly have to delete it before too long.
Retro Achievements is nothin more than “head cannon” for achievement hunting try hards that have nothing better to do with retro games.
Look you know it, I know it, we all know that it’s time for Halo to rest easy and be let go of. It’s good for 343 to close.
8:33 and sometimes you beat dark souls 2 scholar, and then you have to watch THOSE credits.
Infinity ward presents halo
I've been saying for years that Microsoft should have IW make a game called Call of Duty: ODST. It'd be a good crossover for COD and Halo. Maybe it can get fans of both IPs on board.
John, why don't you do multiple comments of the day? I'd love to see your opinion on a few of the top comments every vid!
Yeah, i’ve seen people who would prefer AI over actual translators (mostly for petty reasons imo).
@@TheArceusftw well if a machine can do a better job and much more accesible and cheaper so they give more effort towards the game itself... Why not?
@@ramchristopherpesante4155because they won't do a better job and on top of it there's not a chance they'd put more effort into the game
You must not be paying attention to Halo or 343 because it seems that every other day there is some kind of controversy that pops up.
It's not "odd" or "strange", it's shitty.....period.
I really don’t think Zelda will defeat Ganon. It’s always been said that only Link with the Master Sword can truly beat him. I’ve thought since this game was announced that Link will be the one to finish off the game. Zelda can pretty much only deal Ganon as seen in BOTW.
Wassup Jon(SW).
I'm not really into the .Hack Games but for the Fans, it would be cool seeing more .Hack Games being Announced.
I am not surprised the RetroAchievements Site Crashed.
I'll probably Pass on the Black Ops 6 Open Beta, I am not much of an Online Shooter.
I think whoever Worked on a Game should be Credited regardless, this is something Nintendo has too sort out.
I hope people got some really cool Amazon Prime Deals.
A New Bioshock getting Fully Revealed at some point soon would be fantastic, it's hard too capture the magic of the First Game but as long as it's a solid Bioshock Game, Fans I am sure will be very happy Overall.
If the Next Halo Game is a dud from 343, then it'll be time for them too take a backseat or the Halo Franchise will have too take a backseat instead.
Nice Poll, I'll check out BO6 on Game Pass, more for the Single Player tho.
Great Comment, never thought of that, Link being Summoned for certain Puzzles n Bosses, I thinking we would Play as Link at the Start and maybe at the End against the Final Boss.
RGT 85 You need to have him on more
Sonic superstar isn't discounted on Amazon Canada. I was waiting for it to go down in price before i picked it up. I guess i'll keep waiting...Later
I understand a 5, 10 or 15 years nda , if it last untill the product is released , or if it involve sensitive information, there can be life long dna for sensitive case.
But if the nda last years after the product is releaded , i do not get it..
The Xbox tax is real.
