Thanks so much for this video, just did this fix on my 02 LX. I was getting a “No Disk Detected” message and could not get past it to the nav screen.
I could not access the front two bolts with the seat all the way back. Thankfully there was already some aftermarket work done around the Nav unit by a previous owner (backup camera spliced in) and the front two bolts were missing, so I was able to remove with just the two rear bolts.
I ordered a Hitachi CDR-8130 (manufacture date 03/97) from eBay for $35 and was able to harvest the motor and swap it with the Nav motor.
Almost couldn’t believe it when it worked, even after watching your video. Thanks again!

This video is solid gold. I can’t believe it doesn’t have more likes.
Could you provide the serial # for the motor or any other guidance on best cd drives to order?
I have the same problem, but I’ve undertaken similar electronics projects and don’t want to buy the wrong thing.

I’m glad it was helpful to you. It was quite the adventure trying to fix the nav unit. Here is a link to the motor commonly found in the nav disc reader under the seat. www.motors.wrobots.com/PPN13KA12C-G-MS.php
I ordered an older hitachi dvd-rom drive (manufactured June 1998, model 8130) with a black faceplate from eBay and it had the proper motor.

I’m with you bud, I liked it last year when I attempted fixing mine one on a LX470 2002 I didn’t succeed at the end but I’ll try it again once I have some free time. Big shout out the RUclips channel

Thank you! It’s great work. I have the same problem with my 2001 Lexus LS430. I don’t think I’m capable of doing the cd-drive motor swap! My other option is to buy the player. Thank you for the tutorial!

Were you able to remove the disk before installing new motor? Is that the same motor that ejects and inserts the disk? I have the same error on my 2002 Lc but the player doesn’t do anything.

Yea, I was able to eject my DVD nav disk. I don't think this motor is responsible for ejecting the disk.

I cant seem to get at the front two screws and plugs even with the seat pushed all the way back- the electric seat motor is blocking everything. Any advice, short of taking the entire seat out?

Hmm. That's odd. Sorry you're having trouble with it. I went outside to look at my seat and when I move it all the way back there is a strip of carpet held in place by a circular plastic clip. If I remove that clip I can gently pry back the carpet and get at the bolts on the front. I'm curious if your seat is not moving all the way backwards or if some Land Cruisers are different year to year in the 100 series. Mine is a 2001. It will take you a few extra minutes to remove the bolts holding the seat down. You won't have to take the seat out. Take out the 4 bolts holding it in and unclip the electrical connected to it. Then you can rock the seat backwards giving you full access to the front.
