Guys, no worries about boring us with the demo. It’s just part of the process. I’m here with you for the long haul. Jenna, you were rocking with that hammer!!
As another mid-century home renovator (albeit at a much slower pace) I really have enjoyed the demo videos since my house had a bunch of similar problems. It is nice to see the rebuild starting, but seeing everything that went wrong with the original build has been super entertaining. Good luck on the new phase of renovation!
I don't remember if I commented on the demo. However my feelings toward it weren't "this is getting boring" but instead: "aw man, I feel sorry for these two discovering a seemingly endless amount of structural problems. I hope they get to rebuild something soon!" You are doing great, I'm always looking forward to your videos! ❤
1. Never remove safety equipment on power tools, especially on saws. It is there for a reason. If you can't do the job with the safety equipment in place you are using the wrong tool. 2. When using a table saw stand to the side. Never stand directly in front of or behind what you are cutting. The kick back is powerful and can send a piece of wood across a room with a speed that will impale you if you are directly behind it. 3. Always be cautious when using saws, especially table saws. They are unforgiving and you will lose body parts. I will use a lot of tools, but I won't use a table saw. I have seen what can happen when you don't respect the power of the tool and it isn't good. 4. Before you use a table saw secure it properly. 5. Measure twice cut once. 6. If the table saw bit was a joke don't joke about that kind of thing. A lot of people watch your content they might not realize you are doing it wrong and try it for themselves. 7. I know you both want to do it yourselves and I respect that. However, when it comes to power tools if you don't know how to use them properly and safely don't use them until you do know. Talk to contractor or even a shop teacher. Have them teach you how to safely use the tools before you use them. As fans we want you to finish the house with all your limbs intact.
I have been utterly impressed by two seeming "lay people" gutting a ginormous house and then rebuilding it!! 😮I enjoy The Jolly Adventures of "Pink Hammer Jenna", and "Fun Facts Nicky". 🏠🛠
@@Helen-jv9mq Yes. I've thought of that too. I never shied away from physical labor until I hit my mid to late 50s. I hear ya. I'm feeling the results of it all. 😮😅I hope they stay healthy into old age. 😊
@@Helen-jv9mq I think at least Jenna has gotten stronger. I agree that lifting too much does terrible things to the body, but they seem to be careful so far. Lifting steel beams needs a crane, as does large LVL. If they stay under 50 pounds, it's probably OK. That's easier in demo than rebuild.
I’ve never been so excited to see a wall built!! Omg! Not because I’m tired of demo, but because progress!! I think people forget that you’re tearing the whole house down and inspecting what’s behind things BY YOURSELVES (with a little help here and there) It’s no easy feat! If you must demo more, I would still love to see 😊
In this video we learned why you don't jsut fuck around while building your home. Turns out it will make a huge difference after a few decades of having to demo the entire house or just renovate it a bit. That loadbearing 2x10 that they just chissled out, and the nail in the pipe cost hundreds of thousands after a few decades
Now I think I want a compilation of every time you explain something crazy the original builders did on this house So happy to finally see positive progress on the house! (I def love the demo though, idk who was complaining.)
You guys wanna know a fun fact?!? I couldn’t live without my Wednesday Jenna and Nicky time!!! How exciting that you’re able to start putting pieces back together again!
Yeah save all that wood for sure and what ever is left over build and sell for sure. I think you guys should make and sell some souvenirs for us so we can have a piece of the house.
Shout out to drywall Dave! I never get sick of any of your videos weather its watching your crochet or house demo and build. you two are made for each other, your mutual respect and support for one another makes my heart glad.
I watch this series religiously. I can promise you I'm not tired of the demo!! I will say that you ripping that plywood on such a small tablesaw with no additional support scared the hell out of me. I would suggest ripping with a circular saw & guide for a cut that large. Stay safe!!
I am a woman of72. Building trades were a big part of what I did most of my life. Built my cabin on Salt Spring when I was 24. Love your show and the both of you together. What a treat. Wish I knew you needed tools. Like baskets I have too many.
Table saws are often seen as the most dangerous of power tools. You need to watch and re-watch about 200 videos on table saw safety. As others have said, circular saw or track saw, and when the table saw does come into play, get it up on a stand or a solid table and use in-feed and outfeed support for larger pieces.
The demo process has really helped me understand the reality of fixing up a house so I can decide with a better idea of what I’m getting into. It’s a lot of time, effort, and money. Thanks 😊 you do you
Did you completely remove the Riving Knife on your table saw? That is a saftey device to prevent kickback. Tablesaw's are pretty dangerous and you should take extra precautions with it. Secure your table saw so it doesn't rock when moving wood through it. Don't stand behind the loose piece of wood when cutting so if kickback occurs you aren't impaled by the wood. Be really careful with that think. I want to see you two finish this house without losing any limbs. Please be careful. Read up on some table saw saftey before making cuts. Really enjoying this project BTW. Keep up the great work. Edit: you might want to use a tracksaw to cut the larger pieces down a bit before running it through the table saw. 4x8 pieces are dificult to manage when you don't have a even surface to the table saw.
One trick I’ve picked up for breaking down sheet goods near your work area is to pick up a 1/2” sheet of dense foam insulation and cut on that with a circular/track saw. It’s faster, easier, and you don’t have to worry about wrecking your floor. Just think how much easier it is to maneuver a circular saw vs a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Definitely wouldn’t use a jobsite table saw for it, and like you said the riving knife is a really important safety device when you are using it. All of those jams were the wood twisting and without the riving knife to stop it, it can catch the blade and kick back.
Thank you for saying that. When I saw he removed the safety device all I could think about was no no don't do that. When I was in middle school one of my classmates was using the table saw and let go. He was lucky he wasn't standing behind it. It went halfway across the room, dented a door and cracked a wire enforced window. I will use a lot of different saws if I have to, but I don't like table saws.
We loved the demo… but as you get into construction… please let me pass on a piece of advice… you’re going to need a compressor, and soon! There are lots on the market. You can get a big one that will handle everything and it means you will need 240 power supply cords everywhere… these extension cords are expensive and there are a ton of variations of 20 and 30 and 40 amp plugs to worry about, plus having the right breakers, the right receptacles, etc… a bunch of things you might have to buy adapters for, or expensive cabling. King Canada has a 3.5 HP compressor that is the biggest compressor that works on 120 AC. You can power a good framing nailer, a paint gun, a grinder, etc. without needing the extra power or cabling. You don’t spend a ton of money, you can power pretty much a whole build site, and it will fit under a table in a corner and be useful for years to come. Oh yeah… and buy a nice framing nailer.
I am sure there are other comments on the job site saw but please don’t use it to break down boards like that. Please use a circular saw with a straight edge. Much safer. You can get a track saw but I don’t want to spend more money for you. Great team work you two!
If you need a wine room it should be where the mechanical room was! 😎I think the monolith would be good for wine, not that wine sticks around for long at my place. Ha! At least I am thinking. About Nick and Jenna House 😮 p.s. please use hard hats for overhead work. 😊

The demo was super fun to watch! But i am very excited for the rebuilding and beyond. You got yourself a new fan of yours in me from ep. 1! I really like you guys, even went back and watched some of Jenna's older stuff and liked it. Sorry to hear you get admonishing comments tho. Those are totally undeserved.
Consider a track saw for the sheet material. You can cut on top of a piece of insulation foam. Track saw is a bit safer than a table saw. It's slightly more work to re-measure every time
I'm not sick of demo! You guys are hilarious together. "Wooooooow!!" 😊 I Think you could make an awesome dining table or console for your TV, with storage for your recordplayer and vinyl, you know wood and are talented. I think it would be a great project for both of you to work on.

With 3 bungalow restorations under my belt (and no more), demo is never dull! But just wait until windows installation day or kitchen cabinet and countertop installation days! No question - use that doug fur for something that will be visible. If you had tools (hint) you could easily mill that rough sawn doug fur into trim for your windows or end tables. I restored a 1919 Bungalow and I reused all my rough sawn doug fur for window trim and for a couple of tables for our deck. Seasoned doug fur is basically a hardwood. Don't forget to plan your power tool needs and to save by shopping on the local pawn shop or on craig's list. I do see a compressor and a couple of nail guns in your future: framing gun, finish (brads) gun.
Congrats on framing your first wall! When using the table saw, it helps to have it up higher on a table or platform. It’s more comfortable to use! It ensures the wood is going through level and not pinching the saw blade, which could cause things to get stuck. Love watching this series, I’m learning so much!
Please build a table for the "table saw". By having it elevated it will help stop blade jams from twisting or miss cuts because you are lifting while cutting. Not to mention it's safer.
Demo is good, vlog is good.. well done. Great that you saved the old growth lumber, it is priceless. Tip for the sawsall-- let the base where the blade meets the motor rest on the wood you're cutting , then rotate the blade. It will act like a lever and be much easier than holding the sawsall in the air.
Hey we love the demo! "We" means myself, DH and two neighbours watch it together. Don't worry you get an extra view count since I watch it again since some people in the "audience" like to talk a bit too much. 😄 We all love that you are showing the reality of taking on such a monumental project.
I hope they get to rebuild something soon!"
You are doing great, I'm always looking forward to your videos! ❤
Drywall Dave is a Legend, and my hero.
Demo or building, never get tired of watching two hard working young people build their dream together.
I worry about their backs in 20 years! I was like this in my 30s, super strong & doing lots of manual labour, and now I’m really feeling it :/
@@Helen-jv9mq Yes. I've thought of that too. I never shied away from physical labor until I hit my mid to late 50s. I hear ya. I'm feeling the results of it all. 😮😅I hope they stay healthy into old age. 😊
Sounds like a great name for the channel
@@Helen-jv9mq I think at least Jenna has gotten stronger. I agree that lifting too much does terrible things to the body, but they seem to be careful so far. Lifting steel beams needs a crane, as does large LVL. If they stay under 50 pounds, it's probably OK. That's easier in demo than rebuild.
@@falconeer99 😄Haha, it does!! Thank you. Or maybe even a cartoon. 😃
I’ve never been so excited to see a wall built!! Omg! Not because I’m tired of demo, but because progress!! I think people forget that you’re tearing the whole house down and inspecting what’s behind things BY YOURSELVES (with a little help here and there) It’s no easy feat! If you must demo more, I would still love to see 😊
I am not tired of demo at all! I’ve loved this
Idk who said they were tired of the demo but I’m here for all of it. Exciting to see you finally start to get building though. Great job you guys.
As a pacific northwesterner, I love the spotlight that the mighty Douglas Fir get on this channel. 🌲💚
I laughed out loud at the green heart. Well played sir.
same!!!
Now I think I want a compilation of every time you explain something crazy the original builders did on this house
So happy to finally see positive progress on the house! (I def love the demo though, idk who was complaining.)
That smile at 11:12 is the most adorable & sincere expression of love. 🥰 priceless
I was going to work on my house, but then I saw this dropped one minute ago. So I’ll watch Jenna work on her house. Procrastination is fun!
I'm in middle of a bathroom renovation. I should be mudding drywall, but instead I watched this video. 😅🤣
You guys wanna know a fun fact?!? I couldn’t live without my Wednesday Jenna and Nicky time!!! How exciting that you’re able to start putting pieces back together again!
PLEASE make matching Adirondack chairs with 2 miniature ones for the dogs!
Stay safe!!
You should make your dining room table from the left over lumber. How beautiful to gather around! I’ve loved every bit of this process, keep going!
Thanks 😊 you do you
I would recommend getting a track saw for cutting large pieces of plywood. Works a lot better than a table saw in my opinion.
I bet if Big Butt Drywall Dave had been there, he would have shut it dooooooooooown.
All of those jams were the wood twisting and without the riving knife to stop it, it can catch the blade and kick back.
came here to say this. "I want to see you two finish this house without losing any limbs" track-saw and foam for ripping big sheets.
Appreciate the honesty in your videos, it's rare these days
11:11 that proud smile he gave you, "Jenna, go Jenna!!" 🥺❤
I am sure there are other comments on the job site saw but please don’t use it to break down boards like that. Please use a circular saw with a straight edge. Much safer. You can get a track saw but I don’t want to spend more money for you. Great team work you two!
The whole time I was watching that part, I kept saying, "No! no! no! omg NOOoooo!" I was so worried!
Y’all’s first wall!!!!!! Woohoo!!!
These videos are my most exciting things on wednesdays
If you need a wine room it should be where the mechanical room was! 😎I think the monolith would be good for wine, not that wine sticks around for long at my place. Ha! At least I am thinking. About Nick and Jenna House
😮 p.s. please use hard hats for overhead work. 😊
I am ready to buy Nick & Jenna merch!!! Love your crochet, love demo with Nick n you even more! Granny from Spokane here, watching your RUclips always!
That was the first “I love you” I’ve heard on camera. So sweet, that melted my heart for you guys. ♥️🫶🏼♥️🫶🏼
I quite literally have been checking nonstop for the last two hours for this video- safe to say im not tired of the content!
I’ve enjoyed every part of the process. Keep doing what you’re doing! Too many people want to see the whole process within minutes now and I appreciate the whole process you’re showing.
I was once pounding with a sledge bar onto a crowbar. And a piece of Steel flew off and hit me just underneath my lower eyelid and penetrated the skin. Safety glasses when pounding❤
Ugh when two people w words of affirmation come together 😭🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 you guys are so sweet always giving loving words of encouragement to motivate each other 🥲🥲❤❤❤
With 3 bungalow restorations under my belt (and no more), demo is never dull!
Jenna I am always waiting for your new videos and whenever you posts a new video it's makes my day instantly🥹🥹🩷🩷
Please build a table for the "table saw". By having it elevated it will help stop blade jams from twisting or miss cuts because you are lifting while cutting. Not to mention it's safer.
I binge watched the whole playlist last night so this upload was a delight!
Also i will never be sick of demo! 💜
You two work beautifully together; it's sickeningly cute & I appreciate you guy's sharing the house project journey. Adorable, I tell you!! 🥰
I'd watch any part of this house makeover tho, as long as ur explaining y is happening I'm basically learning, and that's a win in my book
Go Jenna! Go Nicky! 👏👏👏
You both amaze me! Moving forward I'd invest in an air compressor and pneumatic tools. It would make nailing a lot easier.
I think we all need to practice patience and this is what your project is helping us with. If this takes you years, I'll be watching and enjoying the process. You've got this..and there is nothing you are supposed to be doing right now except this. So y'all just sit back, breathe and enjoy the moments.
I for one am not tired of anything!! I adore you both. And truly look forward to each new video.
Maybe build a "Mondriaan Chair" out of the wood. It's a style icon and just don't paint it but let the wood kind of like speak for itself!
This is fantastic! Congratulations on getting to the actual building part of the renovation! 🎉 you’re both doing great! I also, don’t tire of the demo parts. ❤
daammnnnn y'all were busy!!! personally, I'll never be tired of demo-ing, it's so fun to watch and y'all are hilarious lol
I'm not tired of demo either! It shows reality! For ripping down large sheets of wood, check out the rip cut and accucut Kreg jigs for a circular saw! So helpful!
Oh that douglas fir is gorgeous- I would love to see very sleek, mid century wall mounted units made from it. They can sit low on the wall so that above them you can hang some beautiful big artworks!
You guys are doing amazing! Honestly always so impressed with your abilities even when you’ve never done something before!
a big dinningtable made out of the scrap wood would be awsome or like a bench for the garden
OMG… JENNA! You narrating style is hilarious. I find myself chuckling all the time with your commentary. I can tell you are one sharp cookie. And Nick?!?… you are a thinker. And it shows how careful you are and how much you are comparable with Jenna.
Holy MACKEREL!! I cannot believe how much you guys got done! This was a great episode, because it showed so much variety. And hearing N say "i love you" to J so sweetly, and her responding? Made me feel all proud mum, and that you two are the real deal. Awwwww...
I'm not tired of the demoing. I enjoy all of your content 😊
Ngl seeing the demo process is actually so satisfying to see the bare bones and just overall process of it all. Its so exciting demoing and seeing the future potential u guys can do with the house
Don´t mind people, what you´re doing is fine. You never know what surprise will pop up when you´re taking a house a part. Congratsss!! you 2 are doing an awesome job!
I listened and then went back and listened again about nails vs screws. Thank you!!!! I found it fascinating.
I’m not tired of the demo! If anyone is tired of the demo, it should be you and Nick since you’re doing the work 😂 loved this video! Yay for the wall!
Congratulations on moving forward to rebuilding! Hot tip! Build yourself a miter saw bench. You’re going to be cutting soooo much. Make your life easier and do it early.
I love this video series so much! When it started I was properly stuck trying to finish my master thesis and I think the continuous increments in a massive project these videos showed, helped me as well. Now, I have finished my studies and I will start my new job tomorrow and I can‘t believe it happened so fast
Congratulations 🥳🎉

After watching another channel where they followed the same path, yes, it feels like they are constantly demoing and then constantly building and then like magic you are finally to the finishing part. I'm happy to see that you are reusing the old lumber and maybe other parts of the original house.
I think anyone who watches looks forward to any content that you two make! I love the demo stuff! Loving the new chapter with the bracing and rebuild of the utility room wall! Can't wait to see how the replacement of that main beam goes!
This episode was a banger - we got to see the doggos. AND the bonus of seeing recycled materials being used. Love that douglas fir ! Great progress N&J
First piece of furniture you can build is a work table! There must be a million vids on YT showing you how. Get those saws off the floor and save your backs.
I’m just so excited about your progress! And so sad about the bad building you keep finding. It’s a miracle that house lasted as long as it did. ❤your new wall! 🎉
I can't believe people are complaining about the demo. It's not as though it's your first choice of things to be doing. Love the content and though can't wait for the building to start still enjoying what you're doing in the mean time
I suggest building a coffee table and if there’s enough wood, some side tables too
I love the demo and look forward to your posts each week
I dont think i'll ever get tired of the demo, you guys make it alot more fun to watch than i feel like it should be lmao
I never tired of the demo. It amazed me how much of the old house had to go. I'm so glad you're at the rebuilding stage!
