Blaize Watts I get what you’re saying but put yourself in his shoes .. confronting an armed police officer as a security clerk is a sticky situation. I feel he handled it the best he could without jeopardizing his and others safety. It’s not his fault that Cops get away with breaking the law, even when off duty, It’s not his fault that he has to call the same police that may be members of “The Thin Blue Line” club, to come and arrest one of their own. And Remember that she’s armed with a gun and a badge and he is not. His trying to deescalate the situation by calmly giving her a chance to comply peacefully, even if it was more of a chance than he would with you or me, was the best and most logical approach and shouldn’t be confused with preferential treatment. Had he dealt with this armed cop, sorry....armed criminal, like it was you or me, it could have resulted in him being the one cuffed or possibly shot. A law enforcement officer should be able to evaluate each situation independently from one another and then be able to take the action, or non-action, to handle them. I feel he did exactly that ..

I had a cop tell me they are kind of a double edged sword. That the cameras protect them and the public, but they also leave less room for compassion; like teenagers popping off and being stupid, instead of talking to them and escorting them home, they have to take them in. And that was an interesting argument to me.

This reminds me of the time I spent as a loss prevention employee at a department store back in 1986 when I was 23 years old. Right after the store opened this woman came in the store, got a cart, and wandered around. I am at the main register near the front door. I noticed the woman approaching the front door, push it open with the cart, and walk right out of the store. The cart she was pushing was filled with curtains, curtains, dish rack, dishes, shower rods with curtains, and all kinds of cleaning supplies, mop and broom, too.
I followed her out and identified myself and told her that she needs to come back into the store and she gave me that look of suprise. As we walked by the register and asked one of the clerks to go and get the items from the trunk and the rest of the items in the cart and bring it to the office. All totaled over $550, at that amount I had to call the police. U had to write my report as well so I got her identification anf that is when I realized she was one of the daughters-in-law of the owner if the store. The police came and she was arrested. The owner wrote up a memo that no "in-laws" were to enter his stores without a family member related to the owner. Some people are such idiots.

I finally ended up having to resign willingly (and sign a no threat paper said I wasn't threatened) because I would have been fired because I let my father buy the rug with my macys card which is against policy and a terminable offense... all this over a $1,000 rug....and funny thing is while they searched for it all over..they found 2 shoebox with $20,000 cash in them that somehow made it to our store from another store where employees were stealing money and accidentally loaded the 2 wrong shoebox on the truck to our store...cant make this stuff up

When it storms outside sometimes that turns into a tornado. Or when it rains sometimes that turns into a thunderstorm. That doesn’t mean that every time there’s a thunderstorm it turns into a tornado, nor every time does it rain does it turn into a thunderstorm. Do you see the difference? You’re saying that if the woman they arrested wasn’t a cop that they positively would have shot her. That’s false. That’s absolutely categorically false. You cannot say for sure that would’ve happened. I have seen countless videos where somebody had a gun, including a black male, and the cop did not shoot them. I actually just watched one yesterday where the person analyzing the video talked about how it would’ve been completely justified for the cop to shoot this young man who reach for his gun without thinking a couple different times. But the cop did not shoot them. How could that happen based on your logic? I hope you understand now.
And I don’t send you this message to be nasty or anything. I said in his message because we all need to be corrected when we make mistakes. I'm not naive enough to believe cops don't abuse their power in other countries but rarely do you see shootings of citizens treated like just part of the job elsewhere to the point that a cop only has to THINK you have a weapon for the "legal" system to justify their recklessness. In fact in many places there are people who have stepped up to be cops to do the right thing and they are considered traders because they’re black and they’re also cops.
Police unions over the past 30+ years absolutely have done nothing but be slimy defense attorneys that have protected a cops career over the citizens and over the greater good. But when you classify all cops together, is that similar to all cops classifying citizens as the “other“, or those that are black or minority as the “other”?
