Crafting complete and comfort survival shelter | Bushcraft wood structure,clay roof & twin fireplace

  • I imagined this survival shelter to live in peace far from the madness of the cities, here I will cultivate, hunt, fish and improve my hut.
    I used dead wood for the structure, earth and stones to build the fireplace and all the natural materials I found around me.
    The magic of this forest did the rest.

    You have no idea what this does for our imagination. The aesthetics are great. They look like hobbit villages!
    I love the fact that you took a simple thing like bushcraft and made it into an art form. I think most of us would stop after laying down the tree branches for our ceilings and call it done lol. I think that’s what made it unappealing for me (at least) until I stumbled upon your videos. You’ve showed us what is possible with the least amount of tools and ingenuity. Now as a consequence I can only imagine bigger and better things to do. With more people too.
    I know it’s supposed to be a temporary shelter. Who knows how long these structures will last. But for me i like thinking about the things you can do to expand further. Adding a garden to grow vegetables. Adding more landscaping etc. Or digging deeper for more leg room and expand into tunnels that eventually branches outwards into a tunnel network over time lol. The possibilities! Can always add as much as you want as your creativity allows. I also like how everything acts as camouflage until it starts smoking lol
    I can only imagine how many of these “houses” you’ve made along the way with each “abandoned” houses acting as pitstops for your many returns.

    Hey, just a precautionary note to you and anyone else that might read this.
    Be VERY careful when heating up rocks, especially those that have been wet such as river stones. Any trapped water inside, once heated can expand and cause the rock to shatter/explode into shards. Ideally you want dry rocks, that have been dry for quite some time. You can also test "heat" them before using them as construction material.
    Same thing applies when using hot stones for cooking purposes like is common in some traditional cooking in certain cultures - you really dont want one exploding into small pieces in your large pot of food.

    • @peoplez129
      @peoplez129 2 года назад +76

      On top of that, rocks can contain toxic chemicals. Heating them up in an enclosed space like that can make the air toxic, especially if they're also wet.

      Not to mention no roots. I'm kinda cynical about these types of videos. No roots? That land has to have been cleared and cultivated relatively recently, maybe 20 years or so. Also, He has quite a bit of equipment, shovels, saws, machete, that are not seen when he "hikes" into the woods.
      My guess is that he's probably a few hundred yards from his house and this was done over a couple of days.
