    Hi Sheldon great progress, your right selling those seats as they will fund bits and pieces you need to get the car done, it's getting there slow but sure cheers 🥂

    Aron the car is in the last batch of NADA P6B's, by the look of it it is number 7 of 64, and there is a mysterious annotation to the Company Vehicles Record that this batch were a '3500S Mk II' but there's nothing at present to say these cars were built with the eggbox grille, vinyl rear quarters etc. I am plugging for more info on what they may have been.

    • @classic_britain

      @@classic_britain Indeed. I was quite amazed to see that annotation on the Company Vehicles Record, but it probably doesn't mean it looked like an S2 when it was new.

    The factory Connolly Leather seats only had real leather on the seat to human contact surfaces, the tops & sides & backs of the leather seats were a matching 'Ambla' which looks like leather but is PVC/Pleather etc

    • @VDP-if9no
      @VDP-if9no 6 месяцев назад

      I think the 3500S cars had Ambla seats as well. A cost cutting measure.

      @richardhaywoodh 6 месяцев назад

      My 1973 3500s had narrow pleat real leather seats, I have seen wide box pleat seats on other 3500s perhaps they were fully Ambla?@@VDP-if9no

    Sure you're aware but the later style waterpumps rotate anti clockwise as they are driven off the back of the belt...you'll need an idler to give the belt wrap. There was a non pas idler used on the engines used in some of the other applications of the V8 (TVR, Morgan, RV8 etc).

    Sheldon good on you for sticking up for that poor old bloke Matt Furiously 😁, he needs all the support he can get 😉. Oh no don’t sell the seats 😳, their worth more than the car 😂, nice set of BLACK PVC seats would go great in that glass house, sweaty bum time. Seriously well done getting this far with the Nada 👌🏻, never even thought you’d even get it running , you got my respect for that and will watch with interest 👍🏻, oh and all this praise still don’t mean am buying a Limited Edition Sticker sign or unsigned 😂😂.

    I'm with you on the leather and the white wall tyres Sheldon👍
    On leather, one either slips and slides around or perspires profusely ,,,,and it can smell musty like a dead carcass, then either cracks or goes super shiny with age, not to mention discolour or stain easily. It's your car buddy, do as you wish Monsieur as David might say!

    Wise decision in selling the leather seats. If you can put the proceeds into other things that are more important to you, and you can get personal value and satisfaction from, then it makes perfect sense.
    Remember, the only person you have to make happy is yourself.
    Good luck.

    Hi Sheldon, a word of caution on changing the colour of the seats you're buying, to black. The cloth facings are a nylon material, and from personal experience, they can be difficult to dye. It might be a good idea to test the dye on some material from a scrap seat if you can. You'll probably need some Vinylcote 40 or similar product to dye the non cloth parts and headrests if you're not keeping those existing ones. The serpentine belt should have a spring self adjuster pulley, but be careful doing any mix 'n' match with the pulley's, belt alignments differ on some models. You won't get a PAS pump to clear the crossmember unless you reposition it, or you use the P6B original bracket that turns the pump back to front. You may need an original P6B pump to do that. The PAS pumps have a non return fluid valve arrangement, and it will only work when the pump is rotating in the correct direction.

    • @classic_britain
      @classic_britain  6 месяцев назад

      There not the original material so will dye fine.

    • @brianwhittington5086
      @brianwhittington5086 6 месяцев назад

      @classic_britain Ah right, thought you said they were original box pleat seats in white. That was known as Parchment in the brochure. I've had a couple of P6B with it and it's a nightmare to keep clean, shows every mark.
