Getting stuck in mud & almost rolling over on hills are part of operating machines. I miss operating machines sometimes. Did It for contractor for GTE back in early 90s. Case maxi sneaker and ditch witch 6510.thanks for sharing. Brings back memories. Glad u git machine out of hole.
Now that's some bad slop! It's good to see someone concerned about the equipment. Most people would have beat it into the mud bending every piece of sheet metal there was then cuss at it afterwards. You're a good level headed operator! Nice job, Stay safe, John
John Myers that's because he owns em lol he breaking his own equipment for dang sure and yes he is a good operator which makes me believe he wouldn't hurt it even if it wasn't his
The power of an excavator always impresses me. Nice video on how to ‘unstick’ an excavator. Of course, it’s always nice when you have another excavator on site.😂
fuckin love the positive attitude with this and the fact you can laugh about shit you've done to yourself. I try, i end up saying bad words at high volume.
Had a A10 go down in GA when I was staioned there, had a excavtor 2x that sixe stuck kinda like that trying to dig out the a10s gun..... None of the tracks were above the quick sand/mud, they left it over night didnt get to see how they got it out
While not enjoying watching it - its comforting to see it happens to the best of us! Good to see you remaining calm and thinking rather than what most of us always do!!!
That was some slippery muck. Good job. That boys and girls is how the man you call to get you out, gets himself out. You didn't see him call someone else to get himself out, did you?
A small tip for next time if you want it. Use some branches and a tree or two to spread the wight of your machine so you dont get stuck. Greetings from Norwegian excavator operator. PS: liked you video on the beaver dams
I'm not too familiar with tracked excavators, but it seems they must not have a way to lock both tracks in? Seems this could be very handy, maybe to stressful on the teeth? An inquiring mind wants to know.
Well, yes you got the excavator stuck. But hey, that was a fine job! I think it can safely be blamed on the muck - I believe it totally attacked you! Good news: Your front window and total interior still looked very clean! OK. Very impressive escape: digging yourself out of the mess and pulling yourself up as you did. No joke. Respect. I think you were in at least 4' deep.
I love how much of a man you are to show when things get a little tricky, Nice work Matey and to show how you do it says allot about you Brother, keep up the great work and stay well, if you work close to the edge your gunna get sticky some times, I know who I would prefer in the machine? you or the Arm chair wizards that the lounge chair is the closest they get to the action, Horses are the same
I'm an old geezer now and I don't want you to think I'm preaching at you but in this video it looks like the far track was on better ground. Swing left and boom down hard on a flat bucket bottom raising the near track out of the muck. Swing forward and reverse track the far side at the same time and you're out. I've done it I don't know how many times with one track in the soup to the cab like that and the other on solid ground. No clawing around slinging slop or slipping and sliding back in trying to push or pull yourself out. If one track is on solid ground it never fails as long as you can reach solid ground with the stick in close. It's track as you swing and it works good without stressing the hell out of things or wasting time with the low side sinking. By doing it this way you can usually travel further than the length of a track also. Cheers and keep up the videos. It gives us old timers a way to pass the time since nobody wants us in the seat anymore. I don't see what being half blind has to do with it would you? LOL I like your videos son so don't take this wrong okay? I thought it might help you out down the road that's all.
Have to admit he seemed to making hard work of it, why keep turning back towards the soup, and trying to push himself out, and not achieving anything, when he was already pulling himself out by using the bucket to dig in on the dry ground, or was this just for show to make it seem worse for the cameras and us.
Ever use a track chain? Hook a tow chain into the track plate then anchor that chain to something solid, then winch yourself out. Tried it on a dozer once, worked better than I would have thought.
Close enough Chris. But I'm sure I can say, " We had faith in your ability to get that Volvo out.!" Man , that was a bit of bother for you. All the same, that 160 is impressive, loads of hydraulic power on that one. Of course, it has a good operator too.
Try grabbing some old logs or big branches and Laying them cross ways in front of your tracks, they will act like mats and you'll walk right out of that mess!!
That big old powerful machine feels mighty helpless in a situation like that. I set a Komatsu 300 down in a bog like that & if not for a big old beautiful virgin southern pine within boom reach I could latch on to the base of,, I was in store for some powerful ribbing when certain people drove up to see what I'd gotten myself into. All that weight can work against you in certain circumstances & when that cab & frame tilts on you,, it's pretty disorienting spinning that booger around trying to get your bearings again. Glad you had the luxury of some dry dirt around,, I didn't. I made my own muddy sump wading into the middle of a suspect bottom twisting & turning those tracks until that bottom fell out from under me. Eventually it'll happen to anyone who works in unstable & uncertain terrain long enough. Thank goodness for big ole' southern pines!
Know what that's like? It's the drummer's equivalent to having to play super quiet all night. You gotta dig yourself outta the swamp, so to speak and get to that paycheck. :D
gonna start callin you Honest Abe... or better yet, honest George .... (I cannot tell a lie, yes, I chopped down the cherry tree). Lettin it all hang out. :) and it's always a learning adventure for those of us who can count "hours logged" in a machine on one hand.
Hey Chris do you build those mud mats or buy them? If you build them what are the dimensions and materials used? Maybe a video on building a set in the future? Keep up the good work the videos are always a blast!
letsdig18 Hey Chris what is the name of the company that makes your mats and what do the cost? I grew up around where you're at and actually went to high school with Bobby Brantley that was a long time ago lol! As always great videos!
Nothing more frustrating than what this video just showed. I just had this happen to me, but I buried a John Deere 550k. Mud was at door level about to roll in.
Here the steps when getting out of mud Step 1) try to get the track up on any sides Step 2) get the bucket in the ground and turn Step 3) if there is something getting away try to dig it
Busting a beaver an dang ner become the next plug bud. Batman would laugh but I been there too. Dirt your standing on was a platform for dinosaur bones and your just slipping in all a sudden. Easy to laugh about when your out but the go pro was the only evidence to tell the insurance where its at
Story of my life recently. Only I didn't get them stuck. Guys I hired sunk a JD230 at my place twice, nearly 5' deep the second time. Tracks were completely out of site.
I got my micro stuck in a horse manure pile (don't ask...) You know you are in trouble when the house can't turn, and you are sinking on an angle. But a 2000lb is one hell of a lot easier to extricate.
Why do you use machines without a dozer blade? The 6-1 on my kubota makes so many things much easier. But I'm probably missing something about the work you're doing.
Any twat can get stuck, hell I have plenty of times, the trick isn't getting it out, it's knowing when you cant get it out with just the machine you're in. Don't be too clever, don't make it worse. Good work sir.
Can you chain a tree and pull yourself out that way? We get stuck all the time and chains and tow straps are kept in all the trucks. I do not pretend to call myself an operator, but excel in getting stuck.
An honest man! Good to see someone who doesn't mind showing his mistakes. Nice job gettin' her out!
That would have been absolutely terrifying!
"Holy Shit Batman!" LOL The 160 was angry. good job!

Now I know how you got so good at helping others when they are stuck. Experience Very well done Sir.
Thanks for letting the up and coming operators (like myself) see that mistake.
Now that's some bad slop! It's good to see someone concerned about the equipment. Most people would have beat it into the mud bending every piece of sheet metal there was then cuss at it afterwards. You're a good level headed operator! Nice job, Stay safe, John

YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED IF SOME BODY ELSE HAD DONE THAT!!!!.GOOD TO SEE YOU GETTING IT OUT. EVEN THE BEST CAN MAKE A MISTAKE....SMILE 😃
fuckin love the positive attitude with this and the fact you can laugh about shit you've done to yourself. I try, i end up saying bad words at high volume.

Good thinking !!!!!!!! no point trashing the machine !! The Presence of mind to know when it needs assistance
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that gets heavy equipment stuck!
While not enjoying watching it - its comforting to see it happens to the best of us! Good to see you remaining calm and thinking rather than what most of us always do!!!
well - relatively calm..... :)
That was some slippery muck. Good job.
That boys and girls is how the man you call to get you out, gets himself out. You didn't see him call someone else to get himself out, did you?
Great Video. For General Utility work you can never beat a good Thumb and bucket Combination. Keep up the good work!
Battle of the Volvo vs muck…
Now we know why your so good at getting others out of the mud…!!!
I'm always surprised at how fast that little volvo can swing it's arm around.
Good hydraulics on those excevators, fast workers. :)
Deere is faster that Volvo actually (If that somehow makes it better?)
A small tip for next time if you want it. Use some branches and a tree or two to spread the wight of your machine so you dont get stuck.
Greetings from Norwegian excavator operator.
PS: liked you video on the beaver dams
Corduroy
It’s good when a person can laugh at himself.
By golly, looked like you were going back in for an action filled minute😎
I'm not too familiar with tracked excavators, but it seems they must not have a way to lock both tracks in? Seems this could be very handy, maybe to stressful on the teeth? An inquiring mind wants to know.

Whoa ! ... most excellent and calm extrication ... Respect Brother!

good job getting it unstuck, a couple of times I was holding my breath for you.. well done

Smart thinking stop while your ahead most operators dont have enough sense to stop until their house is buried up good job
Wonder why the other track wasn't working? Not enough pressure to work all hydraulic cylinders and both drive motors?
Close enough Chris. But I'm sure I can say, " We had faith in your ability to get that Volvo out.!" Man , that was a bit of bother for you. All the same, that 160 is impressive, loads of hydraulic power on that one. Of course, it has a good operator too.
Reg Sparkes I was still a touch worried when it didn't pull right out lol
We all to get stuck in a hole sometimes, to remind us we're mortal.
Even good operators can have a bad hair day . Still you got it out on your own , good stuff .
Saw the Facebook post... glad you captured video! Well done.!
That shit looked like it was chasing you faster that you could dig out!!
As long as tracks are turning youre good. If they get packed do whatever you aint going nowhere.
I like these stuck videos. Can you do it again?
🤦🏽♀️🤣🤣🤣
that my friend is what happens with experience you learn as you go and you always have it with you, great video sir.
Wayne Rogers V
Wow! Looking 7 years ago and now, I know where you got your extrication skills.
that must suck. how often do you get your machines stuck?
machinery master it happens. just gotta know when to stop so you don't make it a pain to get out
How many excavators do you own? 4?
Mike Denver 5
That mud was mad! It wanted to keep you there. Good job getting it un-stuck!
Kurt
Why do you rub clockwise to buff out? What happens if you go counterclockwise?
Wow that was the most exciting video you've done. Glad you got it and you out of there in one piece.
I was holding my mouth just right to help you get out . Good job in getting out.
Try grabbing some old logs or big branches and Laying them cross ways in front of your tracks, they will act like mats and you'll walk right out of that mess!!
Good operator right there. Nice work Chris
Mind if I ask, WTF were you doing out in the woods next to the DC swamp ?
even the best operators have "off" days... reminds me of trucking trying to back into a space and that space just not wantin me there...lol
Been there!
Nice job getting out. Ya gotta love swamp mud
Had my feet and hands a jiggling my air controls to help ya there lol
Holy shit batman is right. Damn son,,, when you do a thing you do it proud.
I knewd you could getter done. Don’t worry buddy, I almost rolled a Terex 1130 dozer back in my day. Stuff happens!
That big old powerful machine feels mighty helpless in a situation like that. That was awesome great job, now that's the kind of videos I enjoy. Keep up the good work and show more hands on videos.( I mean work videos )
I had to laugh as you got it moving. could have been sloppier ya'll. good job on path clearing. that is a very nice machine.
gonna start callin you Honest Abe... or better yet, honest George .... (I cannot tell a lie, yes, I chopped down the cherry tree). Lettin it all hang out. :) and it's always a learning adventure for those of us who can count "hours logged" in a machine on one hand.
Lol. Good feeling when it starts to move.
yup, been there as well...Always carried a 100 foot chain just in case
Nice job gettin' her out of there, a bit scary too! How did you make out with the general and the rock you had to dump?
Duncan Mac I took a few scoops out with the skid steer and buried the rest lol
Hey Chris do you build those mud mats or buy them? If you build them what are the dimensions and materials used? Maybe a video on building a set in the future? Keep up the good work the videos are always a blast!
aurora431 we buy them from a company. they are 4'x18' x 8' thick
You mean there 8 inch think not 8 ft think 8'=ft 8"=inch just saying
letsdig18
Hey Chris what is the name of the company that makes your mats and what do the cost? I grew up around where you're at and actually went to high school with Bobby Brantley that was a long time ago lol! As always great videos!
aurora431 I cant remember the name. they are down in plymoth though
+aurora431 Carolina matts
Your not stuck, you just can't backup! 🍺🍺
great job I know it is personal to get yourself out. A sense of pride.
Having been in the same shape I sit here straining to help it walk out. LOL
You are getting pretty good at getting stuff unstuck lately. Lol hopefully your luck changes.
First the dump truck, now the excavator. What'd you do for the bad luck, break a mirror or something? lol
Why was the right track not turning?
Good job getting er out! Was Batman your camera man? :)
wow that was some stuck shit right there. I notice only one track was driving is it not a posi drive on them?
Du bist ein sehr guter Baggerfahrer!! Deine Videos sind klasse.
Holy 💩 Batman. 🤣
Well we saw her coming out, I wanna see your facial expression when you went in!
Good job Chris.
You found some real Loon shit.
It's amazing how you can get stuck in a full track vehicle
that calls for a nice cold beer after that rescue.
Good recovery!
I was convinced you get it out
Nothing more frustrating than what this video just showed. I just had this happen to me, but I buried a John Deere 550k. Mud was at door level about to roll in.
Dang Man , You did it !!
You could use some Posi-Traction in that thing. Imagine, a kid from Carolina without it.
a little touch up paint and a pressure wash and it never happened.
***** I used 2 mcdonalds cups and a creek. like new in 10 mins no paint required!
letsdig18 Good job.
Here the steps when getting out of mud
Step 1) try to get the track up on any sides
Step 2) get the bucket in the ground and turn
Step 3) if there is something getting away try to dig it
I hate when that happens! Don't know about you, but the whole time I try to get unstuck, I think what a Dumass I was to get stuck in the first place.
I think I would be looking around for a good long reach for jobs like that
Who is to blame for not taking the bog mats?.....Chris?.....??
Alasdairryan wellll........
So that is what, kinda stuck really is. You started a recent job with 5 mats. Did you retrieve all five of them yet?
By the looks of that ground where he sits I'm pretty sure matts wouldn't have done him any good.
I can’t stand when the excavator gets stuck it’s a bad feeling in your stomach every time
That was a ride. Good work!
Holy shot, time for a good clean
Busting a beaver an dang ner become the next plug bud. Batman would laugh but I been there too. Dirt your standing on was a platform for dinosaur bones and your just slipping in all a sudden. Easy to laugh about when your out but the go pro was the only evidence to tell the insurance where its at

Hurray very nice recivery
Dug in deep, you comming out quik nice...
I don't quite understand. Why are you lifting the track into the air for traction? Pigs might fly but that thing sure doesn't.
Story of my life recently. Only I didn't get them stuck. Guys I hired sunk a JD230 at my place twice, nearly 5' deep the second time. Tracks were completely out of site.

I do not pretend to call myself an operator, but excel in getting stuck.
Yes, I have done it.
