I used to be a librarian and I can tell you, at libraries we get donations of books all the time (many, many old ones). We are only too happy to give them away, for free, no cost, just take them. So my advice to you ladies, go to your local library for your books, they will happily let you take them off their hands. Thanks for the video ♥

Thank you so much for this tip, I have no money right now, but really want to do such crafts. As soon as this stay-at-home, shelter-in-place ends, (well, probably a few weeks after that, just to be sure, for everyone) I'm going to my libraray.!

I like that idea. It would be nice if the library had a room where they kept all their books they don't want anymore so you could buy them. Our library has a sale just once a year, you have to stand in line for quite a while to get in. I'll have to give this idea to the library and see what happens, Thanks

After a lengthy discussion with my local librarian about gutting books. I don't hesitate to take a very old book apart. She told me a mind-blowing number of both old and new books end up in land fields. Then she made me aware many old books turn into actual dust sitting on shelves in homes who have their best intentions at heart, but time takes its toll. Preserving old text is both a tricky and sometimes very expensive endeavor. In her opinion it is better to repurpose them, and I tend to agree with her. Enjoy giving them a new purpose!

It begins Thursday and will be four two-hour classes.1-Create Book Cover, 2-Making Signatures, 3-Creative Process (tags, photos, Ephemera, stamps, lace, ribbon, etc.}, and 4-Completion of Junk Journal. I began searching youtube for instructions on how to do it, since I've never created one.

Just a tip to save time down the road. At 6:25 when the text block is out, I'd take some measurements of it before you set it aside (height, depth of the text block at the binding, and width across the top of the book from the sewn edge to the outside edge). The depth measurement at the binding should save time at the step at 27:30 and the height and width will help in Part 3 with trimming the pages.

AND.... you are absolutely DELIGHTFUL as well as creative and fun! I’ve been reading thru the comments & enjoying getting to know you. Isn’t is wonderful to be able to share your passion with SO MANY people? ( and get so much love in return!) I’m in my 60s & I’ve seen so much change in our beautiful world, (with varying degrees of enthusiasm) But one thing I AM thrilled about is that the internet has allowed so many people a way to share their art and creativity with the world. Isn’t it marvelous? Music, art, crafts, sports, meditation..etc etc.... what a gift to be able to access everything that’s out there, LITERALLY!!😳Thanks again, to you & so many others, for making our lives a little brighter and DEFINITELY more fun! ✌🏽🌏💕

I hated algebra in high school and college but I forced myself to take as much math as possible because I wanted to major in the sciences. I barely scraped by with a c in algebra. I did better in geometry. In fact I have math anxiety. What is odd though, for some strange reason, while I watched you remove the pages of that textbook instead of feeling relief at the destruction of this algebra textbook I actually felt a bit of remorse. Maybe because I see it as a valuable resource for someone who isn’t math handicapped like me. I mean It’s not like algebra is out though of style or no longer in use. Anyhoo, I love looking at ideas for sketchbooks or watercolor books. This is a great idea for other hardback books with less intrinsic value.
