While I have done my first impressions to this episode already, in this video, we're gonna dive on into the spoiler-filled deep end of this episode to discuss what worked and what didn't!

7:50 you do know that she just met kentaro and his mother and found out her father was hiding a huge secret from both families. Plus the whole Godzilla incident and his disappearance. She has the right to be hesitant to act out like this
cate is definitely not rude or acting out of proportion, she doesn’t know emiko or her brother and it’s clear after she finds out that her dad was cheating she doesn’t want to. her declining emikos comfort and tea is realistically what any normal person would do in that situation.

I think we can somewhat amend the Titan/MUTO name retcon by Monarch basically saying “here’s a new Titan, but until we can come up with a specific name for it, we’re calling it a MUTO.”
We can also say that this would end in 2014, when the name “MUTO” was permanently associated with the Titans that battled Godzilla in San Francisco and other members of the same species, such as the Queen MUTO in KotM and MUTO Prime in Aftershock.

It's hysterical that painting one character's trauma "compromising" memory as means to sideline the show's blatant continuity errors. I had a feeling things would play out noticeably different than the original scene. It has been a good while. Now, it isn't entirely a negative by no means, since thus far Legacy of Monsters is putting forth sensational material!
There's several videos I've seen which fit those scenes together perfectly. Trust me, there's no errors in this show's perspective of that scene.
Ok the crab that battle against the mother long legs is not the trap door crab bc it is a different colour plus it look more like the arachno claws aka rock critters from Godzilla vs Kong
I'm loving the show too. I think these are already some of the best realized human characters we've had in the Monsterverse. I like the idea that she just remembers the bridge badly. I guess that they just wanted more drama time with her, so they slowed his crossing the bridges path, when he actually walked across like it was just a piece of police tape.
The human memory is notoriously faulty, so it could very well be that it happened how it did in 2014, but Cate remembers it differently. Same goes for the opening of KotM having continuity errors, it's a memory of Emma's, not necessarily 100% accurate.

Thank you Ol’ Bud!! I look forward to the next one!! Technically, the Kaiju are Cryptids! That is mentioned in Kong: Skull Island. Also, the director of said movie based Kong’s design off of unblurry pics of Sasquatch. He clearly looks more like a Sasquatch than a gorilla!
Uh, no. The bridge scene was not retconed and it does not create continuity errors. I've seen like 3 videos which perfectly put those scenes together in a way that makes sense.
I Love both episodes. so far, I feel The Human cast is the best of The Monsterverse, I feel that Anders Holms was my most hyped character to see because I Love Workaholics and I always thought he would fit really well in a Godzilla Movie or show, so just to see him in it, not only that, but to also play as Bill Randa is insane to me, I thought Dragon Monster was cool but I felt it looked a little to much like Gyoas..... Yeah not the most creative design, but it's still fun. I definitely rewrote alot of my story pitch because I got Wyatt Russels character all wrong so I definitely had to fix that.......but Besides that..... I Loved Kate I understand her character and why she's the way she is, I've been in a similar place interms of the whole Dad situation. I loved the little bugs, I thought they were super cool! I'm just super excited for the rest of the show and to see what other Monsters We'll see or if we would even see any other Titans besides Godzilla? I don't know either way Godzilla's still gonna be a bad ass sometimes so that's what I wanted or expected in terms of The Kaiju scenes.
But I think the new Giant Monster I'm most hyped to see in this show is definitely the Mole Kaiju, Reminds me alot of Baragon, Well I guess just a Baragon type Kaiju I feel if this kaiju was made in the Showa era It would be a recycled Baragon suit Like Neronga from Ultraman, but yeah definitely my favorite Kaiju show this year. Also liked it more than Pacific Rim: The Black. So far it's incredible.

Godzilla killing kids is nothing new. Andrew Russell walked so that bus could drive.
I hated it, but whenever kaijus show up, kids die. Usually we don’t see it though.
However, I’m looking forward to Godzilla Minus One, so I guess I’d better grow some backbone. 🙂

I agree about monarch marking everything as theirs. Even in King of the Monsters their F35’s had Monarch markings instead of US and I’m like “The Government would not allow that” 😂😂😂

Re misremembering on the bridge due to trauma: I can't imagine this would be an homage, really, but there's precedence for this in kaiju films, with one of the Gamera 3 protagonists mis-remembering what Gamera was like in the first film, in a nightmarish way, which is totally understandable in her circumstances.

I feel pretty much the same about the episode, though I do have to disagree about that opening title sequence because I thought that went hard af. Also I don’t think Keiko is dead (I can see how it can feel unlikely for her to survive) but I just have a feeling that there’s more to that scene that we’ll get to later in the series.

I think Randa started off researching Cryptids, but stumbled onto "Titans" when he met Shaw and Keiko. And Cryptids seems a bit small scale, even for Monarch, for a show set in a world with Titans. Also, look how many shows already deal with Cryptids: Grimm, Supernatural, Lost Girl, and many others. Not really necessary.
Love the vid. Something i took into account for the 2014 bridge scene was the ability for our brains to remember things exactly as they happened is pretty bad, especially involving trauma and I more took that as what Cate remembers happening vs what actually took place. Nit trying to write for the writer or anything but i think its a solid interpretation. ❤

While u are right that Randa & Shaw might blame one another for Keiko's death. I disagree with it being Shaw's fault, it's not Randa's fault either. It just happened. U can never know how these things are going to go or how to be ready for them u just do what u can .
Dude, If they focused on Cryptids, I'd totally geek out! Cryptids are my thing.
I just started catching up on the series with episodes one and two so far.
I think Kate's attitude has more to do with her (likely undiagnosed) PTSD than anything else. As someone who suffers from PTSD, the way she reacted during the Godzilla alarms going off in Tokyo whilst hiding in the bunker area is very accurate to what it feels like being triggered and having a panic attack due to PTSD, which I often get in public situations. It can also cause aggression and emotional distancing of any kind of relationship.
I do agree though that her attitude throughout kind of made me dislike her character just a bit.
Her reaction though to the comfort she received from Kentaro's mother is kind of close to how I'd react if a complete stranger started hugging me to comfort me. I'd appreciate it, but most likely wouldn't reciprocate as physical touch makes me very uncomfortable, so perhaps it is the same for Kate.
I enjoyed it. Though I may need to watch it again just to get my thoughts straight about it. But I had a good time with it and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I hope if they do a second season of it, they do it about the Russels and what lead up to the events of KOTM.

Great thoughts!... I Know Cate is annoying right now but I'm okay with it as long as her character arch progresses and she is different by the end of the series. What an amazing show. I had much lower expectations for a TV show but it's actually been better than most of the movies so far. I actually care about the humans? That's a first!!!😊😊😊😊
The bus falling off the bridge still half full of kids was just the right kind of mean.
That scene actually made me very upset, in a good way. I’m happy we’re getting the public view of the monsters. The movies are always blinding us with the “Godzilla is the good guy!!!”.
The public, who loses family and friends to these monsters, wouldn’t think so.
@@MaceDeMarco2010 Godzilla isn't evil or good in the Monsterverse. We saw how vicious he can be while fighting kong and he enjoys watching his enemies cry out in pain. He destroys anyone and anything like those jets in GVK getting in his way. He even stared at kong aggressively.

And I agree with the comments on Godzilla, he's not good nor evil. Just a guardian that fills his role and does what he has to. And he was smiling for a good shot at Kong, not for him enjoying others' pain. He's not a psychopath

I admit I had a knee jerk negative reaction to Wyatt Russell, but that wasn't the character's nor the actor's fault. It's because the only other time I've even seen Wyatt Russell was as John Walker..and we know how that turned out. I'll get over it, lol.

This series will be focused on humans with small transitions to monsters and then back to the human stuff. I just hope we can see the monsters do something and the cameras can away like in 2014
