Hi Jake, welcome back! Glad you guys are watching this show...mild spoilers re performances: I had a lot of issues with some of the acting (excluding the rl father and son team who are the best) to the point that I couldn't even finish the show, so really interested in your opinion about them.
This show is like what Clone Wars is to the PT - it expands the universe of the setting, effortlessly wields mythology from across the series, and has more time to breathe and show more impact that the movies won’t always have time to show.
I’m really glad there’s a member of the panel who’s a big G fan. Like old movies and MV movies. It’s always refreshing to see someone with your same interests and their knowledge applied to the MonsterVerse
Just to let you gentlemen know, this series takes place in between the 1950s and the 2015 timeline, which basically takes place in between the first Godzilla movie and before Kong Skull Island. The 2015 timeline picks up one year after the first Godzilla movie that took place in year 2014.

Interesting that this series came out just as the Godzilla Minus One movie came out - Fun fact in the 1959 flashback the younger Bill Randa is wearing a Kansas City Monarchs baseball hat 🧢 - Featured creatures / MUTOs include the giant spider from Skull Island is called Mother Longlegs, the giant crab called the Mantleclaw, the ones that hatched from the eggs are called Endoswarmers, & then last is called Ion Dragon

I've always appreciated Jake (the work he does with BW...plus, he and dababa's relationship is one of the cutest/sweetest ever), and I've enjoyed the reactions he's been a part of with Blind Wave...but this is (by far) my favorite! Jake is actually the one that made me more curious about Godzilla, and who made me want to watch Godzilla ('54). Plus, I've been curious about this show. What a great group to react to it.
Agreed!! This is the first time I've watched a reaction with Jake and I was thrilled with his input and take on the episode!! His knowledge of the time-line of events was much appreciated. Can't wait to see more with him! 👍
This show is so bonkers good. I was hoping it would be OK but, holy shit, it just gets better with each episode. Most shows SUCK at jumping around in the timeline but this one does it so well.
So glad to see you guys watching this show! I loved it! I so appreciate the way this story gets to explore depth in character dynamics and really see an expansion of the world building in ways that the movies haven’t been able to do. This story is allowed to be more smaller scaled and really get into the human fallout and trauma of everything G-Day and Monarch has done. And Kurt and Wyatt Russell’s character Lee Shaw may just be the best Monsterverse character!
14:07 Just love Aaron's keeps that reaction of his to seeing the kids falling to their deaths, cause I covered my mouth in shock as well to then process it.
While I think this show really struggled in the middle, the beginning and ending few episodes are so strong it really makes up for it. Especially the performances! By the end it was really emotional.
Agreed...Tho I will always be thankful that they didn't drop the ball with the kaijus. I'm always prepared to suffer through some bad acting if the monsters look great

Fun fact - I watched this without having seen any of the movies beforehand, and honestly I think it was better that way. Some parts were minorly confusing, but after seeing the whole show, and then after that the movies, Monarch the organization seemed a lot cooler before I watched the movies.
Were those Meganulon at the end of the episode? Were they something just similar so no copy-write? I am glad you guys have a kaiju nerd on board for this series.
the fact she didn't know she was gonna get sprayed when she got on the plane implies they didn't tell people before they got on, i'm not sure thats legal, the spraying part maybe, i'm guessing they passed a law so its fine but i'm pretty sure they would still need to tell everyone that if they get on the plane their gonna get sprayed

Ah I'm kinda happy to see yall doing this one, while I think the middle portion of the show gets dragged down hard by the modern day crew. The beginning episodes and final episodes r really strong enough to make up for the lackluster middle. Plus this show does quite a good job at expanding the universe and making human characters I mostly care about which the movies have always struggled with.

I don't have Apple TV and tbh I'm not in a position to pay for more streaming services, but this does look really good. I like the focus on Skull Island and 2014 Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Kong got a little too silly for my taste.
If I had to get rid of every streamer except for 1, I would keep Apple TV+. There's so much stuff that's between good and great that the very few misses don't bother me.
You list the movies but forgot the best one, King Of The Monsters. T.T Damn John Goodman lost some weight. Noo you cut when the alarm went off, so damn scary. Why would she use an online decryption service!? So dumb. Such horrible ending...
REALLY hope the reactions to the other episodes are a lot better. Might be in the minority here but Eric was the only one that didn't get on my nerves in this one :(
