Wonderful interview, I crabed in Alaska for 20 years and Alexei is spot on. I feel Bering boats are the pinical of boat building. Thank You again for this interview it's been saved and shared.
I saw a 2013 one up for sale - it still looks amazing. The quality of these ships is outstanding and long lasting. I could hardly believe it was a 2013. Magnificent job, Alexei!
If I had the money, I would have Bering build me one! I love the ruggedness and the atmosphere/amenities built in the awesome yachts! I seen their Bering 77 on Natu... channel! Wow!
Thanks for following up with Bering, I love the boats and he answered all the questions....However Robert, you didn't specifically address tbe concerns you expressed in your first video about stability....If you want to see Bering the RUclips channel " Nautistyles " has a tour of both a 65 and the new 77... Cheers from Toronto
There is no stability issue with the B65. To suggest that is laughable and is partly why I was so critical of his review and couldn't take it seriously.
I'm currently obsessed with Bering yachts so any opportunity to hear from Alexei Mikhailov is great. However the main criticism you gave in your review of the Bering 65 was its stability and in particular its less than ideal centre of gravity which you stated meant that if the yacht capsized it would not right itself. I was expecting this to be addressed in your video. Otherwise interview was good thank you.
If there were truly stability issues that were so obvious they could be seen from pictures and specs, don't you think a real engineer would have pointed them out?
Love the Bering 77 and I’m not sure how I even started watching videos on it. The founder seems like an awesome, hard working individual and from other videos I’ve watched he’s really down to earth and funny. Also wanted to say that you and my Father have the same name. We are from New York but pronounce it Cook.
Yes he is a very cool guy. Not easy to launch a new boat brand, but they have done well. Intersting about the name, most Germans anglicised their names (i.e. Cook), but not our families... my parents pronounced it Kosh.. the German pronunciation in English speaking countries is not really wonderful haha
Has been sailing the North Atlantic winter time, for about 10 years. Ic class 1A. Bering 77 is the boat I would personally choose, for my own safety. How does Bering 77 handle icing on deck? How thick ice can Bering 77 handle to travel in?
These magnificent boats serve a function for go anywhere remote. However, if you are a normal yachtie, they are heavy and overbuilt. What I don't like is the speed. Yes, long range economical, but for regular day to day slow. I like the option to slow cruise at displacement speeds, but still have option of moving faster at 18-23 knots when needed. Fast trawler like the Dutch built " Elling E6 " offers 5,000 nm range, but can still get up and plane @ 22 knots. Then there is the Azimut Magellano 66. It is also a semi displacement hull. In fact @ 12 knots it is just as economical as the Bering. Don't forget the Bering is pushing a lot of heavy steel. No boat is perfect. The design is always a result of Mission requirements.
I think the interview was great but, … like Guenther Michaels mentioned, I thought the point of the interview was to address the hull stability concerns you expressed in your review of the Bering 65. I think you missed the best opportunity to hear it straight from the horse's mouth. Nice interview otherwise, very few youtubers get to interview Alexei who, in my opinion, has the best approach to capable go anywhere explorer yacht semi custom builds. Cheers!
Koch ADV? What company is this? What does it stand for? Are you a Boat/Yacht designer? How many Bering Boat/Yachts have sunk in bad weather? I did the floating cork with needle and plasticine ball in elementary school science. Not really possible as a Boat/Yacht design though. Would make it far too deep in the water. (Layman's terms.)
Alexei took Richard to school. This channel has gotten way too much attention by featuring an amazing boat, in a negative light, that people want to know more about.
I've always looked at Nordhavn as an excellent explorer yacht, however the Bering yachts certainly take the biscuit from what I've seen & heard my only comment here would be regarding the battery packs, as wouldn't it be better suited to have tesla or similar battery packs rather then a huge amount of lithium batteries? wouldn't you gain more power storage & a higher output overall with a selection of tesla/other such batteries?
@@Cobra7FAC I think they are lithium, I think all EV car batteries (main battery not auxiliary) are all lithium.. anyway the point being it would be easier & surely safer to utilise such/similar batteries over a host of individual batteries, it should/would also be far more efficient aswell.. I'm just surprised Bering appears not to have looked into such set-up?!?
What's next, gonna call out nordhavn with a brochure saying their ship is unstable too so you can get the founder on your channel. Complete waste of this man's time to have to come on your channel and defend his brand!
So these yachts were built in China with inferior Chinese steel and then move to Turkey just to keep use cheap steel . l fell in love with Bering but when you are spending millions of dollars on a boat you want the best materials .
I know it goes against the narrative, but China can make high quality steel, it just costs more. The reason they are in Turkey is the tax breaks, not the steel.
So you think in turkey and china, they can’t deliver a-grade stainless steel or production? I don’t where it’s based on and where you’re from, it’s possible to buy crap from all countries around the globe, turkey delivers a free tax zone, so it’s interesting to boat builders.

Alexei is the man! As for as I’m concerned he builds the best go anywhere anytime boats in the world!
8 under construction, 6 on order, hull #1 still out there...Alexei, you are doing something right.

I love Bering Boats... and Alexei is so good talking about... how they build it... love it... Thank you .
Great information and access to Bering leadership. Thier boats are very impressive.
Excellent interview! I did rip you pretty harshly in your review of the B65 but I do give credit when it's due. Very very good 👍👏👌😀😊
Very enjoyable interview, I'm learning a lot! A rare opportunity to hear from someone who actualy builds these beautiful vessels for a living!

yes. how do you feel about the stability issues and sea worthyness now?

Nautistyles do an EXCELLENT job showing the Bering Yachts off and show there ruggedness!

I grabbed the Bering sea for 21 years...these are the finest engineered yachts in the world...believe me.
Very interesting video, I was completely into it, the host was terrific as well as the Guest speaker, Thank you. John Walden

Like milch, milsch.
But in proper German it is Koch.
Great questions... very good video. So much information.

I think Richard realized he was punching way above his weight and he did the right thing which was to shut up about it.
Or criticised to get an interview
Would like to see Video a 65/77/80 foot going thru 8-10 foot sea's.

Simply put! Bering Yachts Built Better!

Fairly sure (but not certain) that Tesla batteries are lithium batteries. My guess is the buyer can use which ever ones they want to pay for.

We still have 2 unfinished Bering hull over in China. Anyone interested. 🎉🎉
