The guy who builds these has impressed me with his knowledge of what it takes to build quality. I loved how he explained what life at sea is about and the power of the sea. I was in the US Navy years ago and we were caught in a Typhoon in the Pacific while deployed. It was almost 3 days with nowhere to go but in that storm Japan was to our west and the storm had turned north which was our heading trying to go around the storm. Due to heavy seas we had to slow our speed keeping other ships of our group in sight looking out for each other. The ship I was on was 560 feet long with and 80 foot beam and it tossed us around like we were nothing. but a toy in the bathtub. We took at some points 45 degree rolls and we had some damage after we got out of the storm and some severe damage to onboard equipment we were hauling in our well deck. The sea is a very powerful force when she wants to be. The waves were estimated at 60 to 70 foot in the worst of it so it was a wild ride for us to say the least. We could hear the sounds of the steel in our ship as it was all moving which is not what you would think would happen but the ship was bending with the sea. That is why I can see where he is coming from with over building his Yachts as being on a combat ship needless to say we were over built because of our mission and purpose. Safety is his concern for his customer which I find is great that he puts that first in his Yachts.

Sounds like the same storm we went through in the Navy in 63 on a 541 ft seaplane tender. USS Currituck AV-7 i was on the helm when it hit and watched our bow go under the waves. Very scary time for a 18 year old kid.

Lake Michigan, Huron and Superior can have a 20’ “chop”. Superior sometimes over 30’. I laughed one time when some young captains delivered a boat up from the gulf. They said how little waves were (it was a 6’ chop). A few days later it was only a 16’ chop and they were having a fit!! Short high waves = 🤮!

Very well spoken. I have four sea service ribbons from the US Navy, and I can back this guy. I have seen the twisted metals, and the destruction you can get out at sea, when the storms come bearing down on you. The standards that Bering adheres to, should be the industry standards. You never know when the wrath of mother nature will come full force, right in your face. Exploring the planets waterways in a quality build like this, is the ONLY way to go. Personally, my search is over, in the event my financial picture in the future allows me to buy a boat in this class. Bering builds are the very best I have ever seen.

I was standing on the shore in Birch Bay Washington when a sudden storm from the west came across Vancouver island and on across the Straight of Georgia. There was a fishing boat maybe 35 feet long about a mile offshore. The wind hit 50 knots and and the seas were enormous with lots of lightning and rain. I was sitting in a 1980s GMC 6000 and it was rocking pretty good. Visibility was nil and I couldn't see the fishing boat anymore...in fact no one saw it anymore. It was just gone. About half an hour later the storm was gone and it calmed right down, there were quite a few trees down. This was in 1992 and they never recovered the bodies or any definitive trace of the vessal but the coast guard and local fishermen looked for weeks.

For me the most important, he has personal experience on how dangerous the waters can be. It's hard to translate that to someone who has no idea. It doesn't matter how much simulations one can run or how many videos one watch on RUclips on how rough the seas can be, actually experiencing it gives you invaluable knowledge.
Him applying that in his construction process shows how serious he takes it, which is what you want when building a vessel that's meant to go anywhere.

I also couldn't help notice the cameras throughout...theres obvious reasons for them, but I like them in the engine room area in case of an emergency. With all the noise, it would be almost impossible to alert someone above if you fell and hit your head, cut oneself on sharp edges, etc. There's just a lot going on down there.

@@petergiffin1270 I'm guessing at least a couple of hundred thousands dollars per year (but I don't know much about boats). It will probably depend on how far the boat travels (it's heavy so it probably needs a lot of fuel for long trips), then there's insurance and maintenance (could probably depend on if there's any accidents), the man said it was 77ft to make it cheaper in fees than for superyachts, then there's the cost of hiring a crew/captain (if you can’t operate it on your own) and mooring costs (some countries with a lot of tourists are likely more expensive than others)... I think they say that a boat cost around 10% of their value every year, I don't know what it's sold for, perhaps somewhere between 2-3,5 million (?), if so it would be around $200k-$350k/year.

A yacht designed by a fisherman who worked the Bering Sea.
Perfect. The first thing I think when I see yachts is "no outriggers, no interest".
First thing he said was "You can add a fighting chair and outriggers here on the swim platform" as soon as they stepped on the boat. This is the first super rich type boat that I've ever seen that compares to Viking. Beats them, actually in seaworthiness. And range. And safety. Maybe not as a pure sportfisherman, but this more than compensates for that. And having a steel hull means this thing can go places that you couldn't take a composite hulled boat. This will bounce off of icebergs, and with a range of 5,000 nm, that's easily doable even from my home State of Florida. I'm from Miami and have seen superyachts 3×, maybe 4× the size and am more impressed by this Bering.
Oh well. Something else to buy a lottery ticket for. Just the fuel at $6 per gallon × 7,000 gals is more than I can do.
Time to load up the kayak. I can still fish.

This is a spectacular boat although I believe it deserves to be called a ship. The thought and planning that went into her build makes this one of the best I have ever seen. You can see that safety is paramount and next comes the pure luxury of the entire build. I’m overwhelmed with both delight and the deepest respect of the owner who has changed the entire world with his imagination.
As a child I used to travel aboard the SS United States lines 🇺🇸 from Southampton to New York several times a year. I’m broken hearted that she lies in mothballs waiting for someone to save her. This man has the ability to do just that as he’s not restricted by any preconceived notion’s of what a great ship should be.
Returning to your demonstration albeit a few months old I would love to trial one. My life is between the United Kingdom and the United States with strong links to France and Sweden. Post pandemic and cancer I don’t want to fly commercially anymore. This is the vessel I would rather have more than anything. Thank you all so much for letting me see the possibilities for the reminder of my life travelling the world in safety and luxury. I’m definitely interested in seeing more with a view to buying one.
I’m privileged to know some of the wealthiest people in the world alongside the Royal Families who would love to see this amazing experience. Travel has most definitely changed for many people who want nothing more than comfort and reliability and I can see this as the answer for the next generation of people who want nothing more than the best.
Thank you for opening my eyes to the possibilities anchored by your videos.

After part 1 I expected to be amazed, what I saw exceeded my expectations. Having a 50 year background with over 12 boats and yachts from Boston Whalers to twin diesel sport fisherman I believe this is the finest yacht of that class I’ve ever seen. As I said in my comments on part 1 this is the perfect yacht for a couple of empty nesters to cruse the coastal US with a crew of two (a very capable captain and his wife would be ideal) in comfort and great safety. Stay inshore to enjoy the changing land and people and the ability to run offshore in safety and comfort when necessary. No yacht is perfect but this comes close.
PS: If I was lucky enough to have a compatible excellent captain and first mate wife they would be housed in one of the two suites.

Of course, military builds are significantly different, especially for the Coast Guard specs (frame spacing of 16 inch for high endurance clas vessels), BUT, the best parts were Rico acting as Captian AND seeing you both jumping ship for a swim from the aft swim deck! Great job to you two and the Builder! He knows his boat!

There is so much to appreciate. The achieved efficiency for such a heavy vessel is astounding. Another mindblowing stat is how much operating time is had between overhauls. (How the TBO residualizes into Cost of Ownership makes this vessel much less expensive to operate when compared to other vessels in its class; if there were others in this class). The battery capacity and management that allows the ship to power systems all day with only a one hour recharge is borderline absurdity! It's phenomenal. Accessibility of key components in an emergency, such as rudder, is another sign of its well thought construction. The redundancy of systems is another amazing feature. Size of the crew area, having a crew mess... The food storage capacity... vibration isolation... true water tight doors... I've never been so impressed by a 77' boat. The term Duesy, as in, "It's a Duesy" (meaning greatness) is eclipsed by this. IT'S A BERING!
