- 8 O'clock In The Morning 2021 - Audiobook/Audio Drama.
This the original short story that inspired John Carpenter's Motion Picture, "They Live", starring Roddy Piper. Written by Ray Nelson in 1963, the short story is quite different overall, there are still strong resemblances to the movie, especially the 'storming of the T.V. studio" at the climax. Read by Jerry Scullion.
This audiobook is an excellent literary source for the visually impaired. Развлечения
I saw They Live, a movie that was definitely based on this story.. I did not notice if John Carpenter gave credit to Ray Nelson.
He did, it's in the opening credits
@@cryssiejohnson2984 it's been a long time since I've seen this flick..
Great reading... We just lost Ray Nelson a month ago at 91 years old.
I am going to look for other stories by him
Ray Nelson knew things.
This was great. You are a natural narrator I was riveted. I do wonder how much truth is to this story. There are too many theories alike to this...I wish I knew the real truth about these lizard shape shifters. If they really do exist now. Ruling us. The Queen makes me think it could be true. Adele and Justin Bieber shapeshifted into giant lizards at their concerts scaring teenage fans...THAT made me believe at the time.
I could listen to this all day. It’s a mix between Crank and they live ( of course ) . Fantastic narration with the addition of the alien sounds made it pleasure to listen to. Thank you :)
You just made my day. I absolutely appreciate your listening, and what a nice compliment. I am working on recording another story, a horror story which should be bigger and better! But for real. Thank you!!!
@@JerryScullion this is truly amazing! I'd love to see a movie, fleshed out!
Thank You ,now I know the real story.💪😎
Well read! I like the alien voices a lot. Bravo and thanks!
Thank you so much - I love the movie "They Live" and this short story version always fascinated me - so glad you enjoyed it!
The best ❤
Stephen King wrote the short story The Ten O'clock People in 1993. He was clearly inspired by Ray Nelson’s story. Great audiodrama to listen to. Thanks for sharing!
I may have to hunt out The Ten OClock People - never read it! Now, I'm curious! Thanks!
Lol " inspired " ..
Yes! Great short story by king but he basicly stole it. Not the first or last that he re hashed n stole. Used to like him when i was younger but now ive SEEN hes One of Them. Anyway great reading of this, glad i found it, and They Live was not only Great! But was an earlier warning to us all today.
THEY LIVE but some of us can SEE!
@@ichaffee1yeah, inspired to thieve! 😂
I saw the movie yesterday at my local movie theater that shows both modern and classic films. It was a great movie. And honestly I think there should be a prequel and sequel tv series that is canon to the film.
I would love a TV series out of this movie - it would be a great premise - I wish someone would do that, for Netflix, etc. Pretty cool you saw the re-release of They Live on t he big screen, too!!
Excellent job Jerry….
…….thumbs up…
……………Subscribed!!

Nice. hope you do more books.
Nice job on the narration, great story. Too bad there isn't more to this story.
Thanks - and agreed! I like the story, because I like THEY LIVE so much, but even I was disappointed at the ending, and wished there was more to it. Just makes me appreciate the "fleshing out" that THEY LIVE did, to make it more of a story.
@@billkennedy3275 Thanks Bill, I really appreciate that!!! :)
I like it
Cracking stuff.
They Live! We Sleep!
solid book choice. Nice listen. ty.
Thank you!!! I loved doing it, and it's so different from the adapted movie version.
Brilliant

Great work Jerry, you have a talent for narration, very engaging.
Thanks so much! More to come! :)
@@JerryScullion do you have a website I can listen to more of your stories.. ?
@@ichaffee1 Thank you!!! I love doing these, but they do take a long time, so, I only have 4 total audio reads on my RUclips channel - but check them out if you can!!
They live! We sleep!
Really good job narrating!
thank you!!! I sincerely appreciate that!!!
Cool
According to my wife. There are shape shifters in Philippines
wait so if he didn’t think that he was going to die at 8:00, then how did he actually have a heart attack that killed him?
That's a great question. While I am not 100% sure, I always felt that even though he had been able to 'wake up' and 'see' them, he was still too conditioned to prevent the effects of such a strong command he had been listening to all of his life.
@@JerryScullion Makes sense. At the beginning of the story, the narrator says that he knew he would still obey any commands given to him by the fascinators.
Maybe they knew he had woken up when he received the call or maybe he really was an old man but I think he obeyed, but after waking everyone up just before
Why does he die though? If he woke up shouldn’t they not have any power over him?
Maybe the power of the spoken word? Him speaking it brought it into reality?
@@brendaharris1228 yeah maybe because he believed it, it happened.
I remember earlier in the story the police chief on the phone said to george his heart would stop. Maybe that's what happened?
