If you stock up on things, when they are on sale, you will eventually be able to shop only for things on sale, and never pay full price for any grocery item, ever again.
When I don't know what to make for dinner, I whip out a deck of cards, where I have written on each card, a different dish, and I make another family member draw 3 cards at random, then pick whichever one appeals to us the most. And this works because I always have everything we need to make everything in the deck.

My meal planning - I write down 4 or 5 meals on Sunday. It meals I have all the ingredients for and stuff that needs used. I fix them in no set order - only by what’s going on that day and what time I have. We eat leftovers or do overs on the days I don’t cook. I keep a well stocked pantry, shop sales, & scratch & dent stores. I only shop every couple weeks & usually for fresh items like milk & produce. I budget $200 a month for fresh food and pantry stock-up. We have a garden, keep chickens for eggs, and buy ½ a beef once a year. I think we do ok.

Another way to purchase items at a lower cost is to check the international aisle in larger stores. Walmart has one, and in Canada most of the larger Loblaw banners do as well. They have all the sauces, sides, canned goods, dried beans, and baking ingredients at a much lower price, and they're often larger packages as well!

One of my favourie recipes lately is to cook chicken in cream of chicken soup in the slow cooker (add a bit of salt), make a roux and use the sauce from the chicken, add a bit of garlic salt, pepper, some chicken broth or bone broth to thin it out a bit (and yield more), and serve with mashed potatoes. So simple and delicious!

I do it a little bit differently. I still plan out my dinners for the week (I don’t schedule which dinner were having what day) but I stock up on sale items through out the month and I make my meal plan around what I have on hand and a few things that I have to buy at the store every week. If I don’t have a meal plan for the week, it stresses me out. I’m a planner and it keeps me sane 😅.

Freezer meals are great for quick meals when I don’t have time (or the ambition) to cook. I do buy stuff I don’t need (yet) if it’s on sale but I also try not to totally destroy the grocery budget every 2 weeks by trying to get what I need and also everything that’s on sale but, if the grid goes down and we can’t go to the store, we’ll be good for a month or 2. We don’t have the luxury of a pantry or even a lot of cabinets in the kitchen so I may have shelf stable food stashed in ALMOST every room.😂

Good video!! I always get reminders on how to tweak my shopping and cooking habits, which are quite good if I do say so! I'm a theater gal myself, and I have not seen Anastasia. I likely won't! Your Cats comment made me gasp! I am not a fan of Cats, but we all love the 1 great song. My favorite is Into the Woods! I played the Witch a number of years ago in my community theater group. I adore the lyrics to the songs, so many life lessons. A close second is The Sound of Music. I saw the movie when I was in 3rd grade or so, and it was a magical. I've done the show 3 times. In my younger days I went after the Maria role, didn't get it, was cast as Sister Margaretta, the one who is nice. The next 2 times I asked to play Sis M. So much fun, easy costume with no changes, and the nun's chorus is beautiful. Thanks again for all you do!!!

I meal plan sort of. It works for me. Anyway, I pantry and freezer shop, then right down what meals I have 100 percent of the meals for. I include crockpot meals, sheet pan meals, an Italian dish, and the standbys like meatloaf or Mac and cheese with “a meat” and “a vegetable”. I don’t schedule a day for meals because we’re busy people and sometimes I have to work nights 😫. My grocery list is what I have 50 percent of the ingredients for, what’s on sale, and fresh stuff like milk. Any un used ingredients go to next months meal “plan”

I’m absolutely with you! In general if it’s ain’t on sale I don’t buy it (unless it’s critical). I also make my own breads. I used a bread maker for years but my broke so I started using my Kitchen Aid. Also just getting into no knead artisan loaves. The recipe is use is very cool. It is enough for 4 small loves and keeps in the fridge for 9 days. When you need a fresh loaf, you pull the dough out, form a loaf, let it rise while the oven preheats. 1 hour to a fresh loaf from deciding you needed one. To your essentials for good tasting food I’d add fresh garlic. Even when we are travelling (we have a minivan camper) I don’t like to plan meals in advance. I see what I have and what inspires me. Adapted this loose approach when the kids were teenagers. Never knew who’d be around for dinner. Loved the video!

Our High School did a musical called Back to the 80’s. It was amazing! I’m a little biased, because my daughter and all her friends were in it, but it was worth it. The whole cast and crew did an awesome job.

I once bought the soup cookbook "Is it soup yet?" by Dot Vartan for EVERYONE I knew. Was the best cookbook ever! The hamburger soup is fantastic, use ground sausage instead of burger and double the recipe, with 1/2 the Worcester sauce. Best soup ever! Happy Birthday! 🎂🎉🥳 I saw "Phantom of the Opera" at Her Majesty's theatre in London. My friend got Orchestra seating, knowing full well the Chandelier flies from the stage into the ceiling from the stage as it "came to life" also knowing full well it falls back to the Orchestra seating and back to the stage at the end of act 1. Well, this chandelier is about the size of a VW Bug...he nearly wet himself laughing as it plunged from the ceiling right over US! I almost soiled myself...lol

I am not sure if this is gonna work but I am hoping it will.
