The reason Guardians works like it does in the first movie and the latest Eidos game is because they’re a Dungeons & Dragons party that just happens to have their adventures in space. That’s their dynamic and what separates them from other comic book ensembles.
The publishers mentioned all mainly publish indie games, which makes them seem like they're playing for the right team and gives them an indie feel which is probably why people want docs about them. Annapurna is a film production company that branched out into games and was successful enough at it that some people forget they do films and are surprised when they put out a film, which feels like it'll make for a pretty interesting story. I feel so many people have to eat bad marketing that when a place like Devolver comes and puts a 5* full course meal in front of you, of course you're going to like it. New Blood is a publisher dedicated to making retro shooters and doesn't even have a Wikipedia article, so there's probably a good bit of curiosity around them. I'm not saying make full docs about them, but they'd make for good podcast episodes at the very least.
It's a strange and nice thing to see the internet shine a light on the cult following of Thief. When the first two came out, there was 0 way for me to know whether anyone else loved them as much as I did growing up. I spent a long time replaying the series every couple years, never imagining that one day there would be a cult following thriving enough for developers to make such a truthful homage to it. All that to say, this looks and sounds fucking great.
Danny there's a stealth series called Styx that gets praise for being pure stealth games (I only played a bit of the first game so I can't say for sure, too clunky for my taste) since you seems to be under a misconception that none exists (granted there still isn't that many). Also shout outs to Mark of the Ninja, Gunpoint, Invisible Inc and Shadow Tactics, but they're all pretty old by now.
I love immersive sims and stealth games. I haven't played any thief except Thief 4 after I played Dishonored and it was pretty bad. I used to have a ton of Guitar hero stuff like guitars, drums, mic etc and had a lot of fun with family and friends. I got rid of them all when my drum set broke and when I started getting rid of all my sports games on 360. My gaming interests changed a lot around that time.
Not going to lie, I think there's maybe been two episodes of the podcast I've listened to and a handful of episodes from your doc series in the last few recent weeks and months that have completely changed my opinion on your channel and efforts... I'm very happy that happened as well, I'm always very happy when that happens :-) At this point, it seems I've almost gotten used to this process in reverse.. but I'd much rather live in a world where I'm proved wrong or had a limited perspective opened up... And it's always very nice, very very nice to find that be a net positive, especially when you're starting to become numb to the normalization of it shifted the other way around... Good stuff.
Listened on my phone but stopping by to help the algorithm.
What a hero
Gloomwood is easily one of my most hyped games, and I can't wait for it to come out, no matter how long it takes.

I just noticed the last Styx game was in 2017, where does the time go?
