Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Mother, do you think they'll like this song?
Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?
Mother, should I build the wall?
Mother, should I run for President?
Mother, should I trust the government?
Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Is it just a waste of time?
Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry
Momma's gonna make all of your nightmares come true
Momma's gonna put all of her fears into you
Momma's gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing
Momma's will keep Baby cozy and warm
Oooo Baby
Oooo Baby
Ooo Baby, of course Momma's gonna help build the wall
Mother, do you think she's good enough
For me?
Mother, do you think she's dangerous
To me?
Mother will she tear your little boy apart?
Mother, will she break my heart?
Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry
Momma's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you
Momma won't let anyone dirty get through
Momma's gonna wait up until you get in
Momma will always find out where you've been
Momma's gonna keep Baby healthy and clean
Oooo Baby
Oooo Baby
Ooo Baby, you'll always be Baby to me
Mother, did it need to be so high?
one of the greatest bands ever. Im 40yrs old. been listening to these guys about that long. thank you mom and dad.
I like your dog.
Elit3 Dr4goN thanks. He was the best buddy I've ever had.
Elit3 Dr4goN thanks. He was the best buddy I ever had.
I remember listening to this in my early teens. Crazy hearing it now in my 30s
I saw him do this live, and when he sang "mother, should I trust the government?" the crowd screamed 'No! Never!. I love the USA
David Rodgers at Wrigley field he had wrote on the wall - no fucking way
Larry Pitchford : )
Yes He Shook His Head And He Had It Written On The Wall, No Fucking Way :-)
The crowd always does that no matter where you live, I saw him in Australia and that happened
I felt like an idiot when I screamed yes.
Gilmour's solos are always world class
Yes! And so touching! Love him!...love Pink Floyd! 💜💜💜
grew up Floyd fan I'm 50 years old to the day no one compares to PINK FLOYD and never will
Mother I can confirm they like this song
1ranjeeves21 absolutely
Whenever I hear this song I think about my Dad. Yeah, ok, that seems weird but he is way cool and grew up to some of the best bands. His record collection is Awesome. I remember our music nights where we and his friends would play vinyl all night and have a fantastic time. We live far apart now but whenever I go home or he comes to see me we still have a great time.
Oh man, I can't imagine how awesome that would've been!
+Lori S Simple nights spent with family are always the most memorable for me.
I. B. It really was awesome. I was a very lucky kid. My dad died last week but I will not forget our times together. He died way to early. Knowing my Dad though. he would want you to groove to his songs and just be happy. I cant yet hopefully you will.
+Lori S My dad passed away almost a year ago and we listen to weird shit too but its the memories we shared, so enjoy your time with your dad and fuck the people who thinks the music you two listen to is weird lol. I do anything to hug my dad :'-( do I ever miss him. But I'm making a playlist of what we listened to right now and try to think of good memories kinda hard, but yes always cherish your time with your dad! =)
+Lori S Lori I am sorry to hear your Dad passed - I wish you well
When my kids were growing, I often listened to The Wall. Especially on road trips. Now my son is in jail for the first time. He wrote me the other day, he was listening to this song. He told me that now, after really listening to the lyrics, he understands why, I liked this song so much. It's what you interpret and your circumstance at the time of listening.
And you work at dollar general you old bitch lmao don't get me started....what happened to your career?!
don't get started...i wouldn't want you to waste those last brain cells on me... i used to work there...i finished school... don't worry about me.. worry about your brother, son, boyfriend who ever you are to him, that's in jail...
Jennifer Wise Dude, truly uncalled for, its fucked up. Just a bystander here, but she never blamed the circumstances of the son/brother being in jail on the music. I know RUclips comments are a cesspool of hatred/bigotry and trolling, but let's all relax and not fight when we can insteast listen to such an amazing song.
Well said, I.B.
I. B.
I LOVE IT, THANK GOD FOR GOOD PEOPLE WHO WRITTEN GOOD MUSIC TO KICK BACK AND RELAX..
how can a music band bring back so many beautiful memories ? I used to hear tracks like this , Another Brick in the Wall pt.1 , In the flesh e.t.c with my dad and mother inside the car during long trips ... Pink Floyd aka The Nostalgia Makers !!!
as a person with an extremely overprotective mother... this song hits way too close to home...
Dedicata alla cosa più bella: alla madre di ognuno di noi. Solo loro potevano scrivere una canzone cosi. .Capolavoro
Love the guitar solo in this one. Gilmour is the master of taking something simple and making perfect and difficult to imitate.
gives me chills every time I listen to this. One of my favorite songs of all time.
Been listening to Pink Floyd since 8th grade. I can’t get enough of it
I first herd this back in the 90s after my 28year old was born. Never gets old! I love you kids. All 5of u even the ones that aren't mine but I was always there by the moon.
Great songs.. just the way people take it... i been lisyen to flotd for along time.. an never flipped out on drugs sooooo proud of myself!!!!
Still an awesome song after all these years.
Tolkien said something about the constant applicability of good texts. The lyrics of this song are freakin' applicable in 2017!
I just went through a really bad break up, this song...the words. I've never been more moved by any other piece of music in my life, this hit close to home
pink floyd un grupo que no podremos olvidar jamas
This album really just reminds me of my grandpa. I don't remember him in the slightest, and I was very young when he died, but this album just makes me think about him.. A man I don't remember and probably will, a man that I'll probably forget about as I get older and older and my child memories fade.
Mother, did it need to be so high?
That line makes me cry every time I hear the song.
5:10 "You'll always be baby to me..." I love that so much!
First time I've heard this one, more lyrical than the popular ones, nice song.
favorite Pink Floyd song
makes me cry. this is just beautiful
It is art and like all art the meaning is individualized. To me it is about a sons relationship to a mother that loves him implicitly, fears for his safety, and as a side effect is controlling. We all have our flaws and life is imperfect.
lot of pink floyd i dont like but theres a lot i do like and this song is one of the songs i like
THIS IS THE MAGIC
If you hadn't figured it out the mother in this song is not a good one. "Mommas gonna put all her fears into you. Momma is gonna keep you right under your wing. She won't let you fly but she might let you sink" If you watch the actual movie this album is the soundtrack to you it is about how the guy's mom is super over protective and holds him back.
don't forget the fact his mom's gone through a rough time as well though. So in that way; mommas gonna put all of her fears into you..
She's another one of the bricks in his wall..
Definitely not a happy song, but it doesn't need to be. There are enough sappy, pseudo-appreciative (but actually condescending) thank- for-being-my-mom songs. This song encapsulates the frailty of both mother and son, which is far more poignant.
She Wont let you fly but she might let you "SING"..........
Patrick O... no she puts her fears into you..meaning moms will put fear in you to teach you..trust me my mom was the greatest at it..its exactly what he meant..mother is a very good mother
As the poet Philip Larkin wrote: "They f*ck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had. And add some extra, just for you."
i cant get enough of this song
I love my mother so much .
So... as a kid I liked this song for an entirely different reason. Pink Floyd lyrics generally aren't vulgar, with a few exceptions, so the first time I heard them going "Do you think they'll try to break my balls?" I cracked up. But over time I've grown a deeper, more meaningful enjoyment for this song.
Mother will she break my heart....
Oh for sure...!
Yes my son
The best band ever.
Music, real music, such beauty and euphoria, if only talent this miraculous were still around these days.
i love this song it brings me back in time when life was much easier
Never gets old... :)
Mother this is relevant today… more than ever.
First song I learned on guitar. I was in a psychiatric ward in Kansas City 1982
i love pink floyd songs and i love them all :)
Always loved this song
This song reminds me of my Mom because she was never overprotective...She did put all her fears into me though, and wouldn't let me fly as a kid...She wouldn't keep me cozy and warm... She'd make me feel terrible...Everyday I saw her...
Pink Floyd, inesquecível, viciante e completo...
One of my favorite solos ever @ 2:49
goes perfect with the song
I love playing this song on my guitar. it is such a beautiful tune. Also i saw Roger Waters in concert this past week at bridgstone arena and it was AMAZING. The only bad part was that there was a strong smell of weed. I think i might have gotten a contact high off of it but ohh well it was worthit just to see him in concert
simply amazing......
this song just makes me tear.....
Thank-you very much for my mother . A long farewell . so long . I will live a little more while defending your warning .
i love this song
I love you Mom 😥🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Back when music, was music.
PINK is and will always be, Big Brother to me. I am hidden deeply, under his wing. .. I, like my brother keep a little black book with my poems in, got a bag, toothbrush and a comb. I'm a good dog they sometimes throw me a bone. GOT THOSE.......SWOLLEN HAND BLUES!!!!!
I think its about rogers mother really. This is your most natural influence in your life and its just another human being who wants to shape you into what they want you to be.
there is no way u cant listin to this without swaying your body left to right man
Iconic.........
Lyrics are so true.
Mother, do you think they'll like this song?
My mom does, and so do I :)
This song is so true.
God bless you and yours,...
I like their songs when both David and Rodger sing
Qu'il est bon ce morceau
All those who are saying "This reminds me of Donald Trump" you obviously missed every point the song was actually trying to make.
ddevans1234
ddevans1234 and you're missing the satire
owned.
You are an uneducated swine if you think this is or has any relation to Donald trump
ddevans1234 its a precursor to the Donald... amazing similarity
saudades da minha mae querida!!! 10 minutos de despedida valeu a pena, devido a distancia do continente...
gorgeous!!!
she won;t let you fly, but she might let you sing
It is about an overbearing real mother of a child. But also the motherly influence of the state.
If you see this show live, this song is shown with heavy influence of the state watching our movements and building our fears.
The word MOTHER was shown and the M disappeared to show a B.
Symbolizing big brother while cameras watched the crowd.
I find it interesting that people can believe there is only one true interpretation for art.
Mother should i run for President?
Mother should i trust the government?
Mother do you think she's good enough?
... :')
Unfortunately, this song describes my mother pretty much perfectly. I play it around her from time to time. Hopefully, she'll get the message in the end.
we all know what the song is about, but if you listen to some of the lyrics like Mother do you think she's good enough for me and hush now baby don't you cry and you ARE a mother, then you understand. Some of it may seem overbearing but a mother does what she can to protect her child. This was on at the Roger Waters Concert and my daughter called at the moment he sang"ooh baby you'll always be baby to me". Have a kid then comment
Brilliant in the move," Bob Gelldof"
i love this one you know, he keeps asking his mother questions in this song, its all questions., thats the ironic part. Guy needs his space, but still is asking mother!! its beautiful,, shit i can relate!. cheers! goodnight
much love pink floydd muitooooooooo
Actually Roger wrote this song about his overbearing mother. The whole album The Wall is about his life, and childhood experiences.
Mother will they like this song?
YES!
bonne fête à toute les mère car c`est elles qui tiennent le fort le plus souvent
chills
All music is real music, Pink Floyd is just better music. :)
my entire body clenches at that 3rd verse
LA PIETA/THE LETTING GO/GOD BLESS US ALL.
when you look up Pink Floyd in the dictionary... the definition is "Real Music".
happy mothers day everyone
I never had to live in the world of this mother. Never a waste of time but I will say this, that If our government lies to us and our children then why should we sacrifice our sons?
Were forced to.
Love this song! Need some LSD to go with it. haha!
floyd the best and i'm turning 51
I always interpreted this song as being about a mother that is overbearing and INSANLEY overprotective.
@XPrincess30 Yeah, I love Pink Floyd, yet I only heard this song a few times as well. And great observation on Rush! ;) Haha yes, they are my favorite band :)
My first guitar song
This song is harsh and at first leads you to a happy place but then ends up its all messed up where you think it's ok. The mom is, is controlling, overbearing and lies to her child only to keep them close for her own happiness and not theirs.
This is messed up. But it's a good song.
The whole album really has a harsh feel to it, its the idea of isolation and abandonment; feeling that there is too much control in your life that you just want to hide!
Good point
Leila Eatsalot its a perspective... a protective mother... you dumb twit... if you find this sad...don't ever have kids..... that's what mothers really do to there kids in reality... in the long run .... if you think about it..... obviously you are an idiot...cause parents do lie to their kids...duh!!!
Jennifer Wise You have a bad look on the world.
amazing Lyrics :))))))))))
best son ever
sorry for your loss bud.
While the Americans were fiddling with rock, the Brits stood up to show how it is done. The adults took over. This is proof. Backed up by the Beatles, Stones etc.
i was listening to this today, & when it says "mother should i trust the government?" she said "fuck no, never."
cool as hell iheard this when iwas 16
It’s tragic how many well meaning parents end up accidentally emotionally abusing their children by coddling them too much
.Mother did it need to be so high?"
I hate how so many people have no clue what half of these songs are really about.
Nobody can sing "my balls" as absolutely perfectly...
