A great song on a fantastic album from a legendary band. I'm so glad I grew up listening to classics like Pink Floyd and so many other great band's from the 60's and 70's
Used to skip school so I could listen to this album. Rainy days with a joint were the best. Today it's raining, no joint, but just as good as it was, if not better now. Timeless
Back in the day 4 decades ago I use to listen to Pink Floyd when I was smoking Angel Dust, and it would put me in another world it was awesome. Now I'm Clean and Sober, and when I listen to it now it still puts me in another world. Pink Floyd will always Rock. I'm 62 years young and I will never understand what people are seeing in some of the music that is out there. Old school is the best time. So all you young timers keep on Rocking.✌️God Bless you all.
What was PCP like? I've tried every drug under the Sun at one time or another... except for Angel Dust. You couldn't get it in the UK for some reason. So I was always curious as to the effects. I know it's hallucinogenic to some extent, and very speedy too. Sounds like a mixture of acid and crystal meth, but I'm sure there must be more to it than that our else folk would just have done those two.
@@terrypussypower Hello there terrypussypower. To be honest with you it was one of my best highs ever, and I also done every drug from A to Z. I done Angel Dust for about 3 years and I was Bless that I'm still able to be a normal person, I know some of the people that I use to party with it screw them up in the brain, it's sad. But even though it was 1 of my best highs I still had some bad Trip's. So my suggestion is not to take that chance because one high can jack you up. But now my best highs is with are Lord Jesus Christ.
I've seen Pink Floyd twice while flying on multiple hits of LSD (late 80's.) And of course would otherwise listen to this and Zeppelin, Doors, etc. while smoking good Colombian Gold. Now, I'm 25 years clean and I find when listening to the music it's every bit as transcendental as it was back then. I didn't think it would rock without the chemicals, but it does; maybe more so.
Gilmour may have grooved out on 'Shine on', revved up the delay on 'Time' and unleashed his blues chops on 'Money' but never did he rock out as much as at the end of this tune...
Jonatan Olsén yes, In this song Roger plays the rhythm guitar and David the lead guitar and bass. He also played the bass on and some other Pink Floyd songs like Hey You, for example.
Still one of my fave Floyd songs. Roger Waters came into his own as a songwriter here, and the band - though disintegrating at this point - were on FIRE.
I said this elsewhere but I wonder how many Americans thought _"Hey you, Whitehouse"_ was referring to the American Whitehouse. It's actually referring to Mary Whitehouse, a television clean-up campaigner famous in Britain years ago for trying to keep swearing and nudity off screens.
@@stevenavakian5250 She really was a self-righteous, squeaky-clean housewife who tried to keep swearing and nudity out of the media. And our feelings off the street.
There is no "best" guitarist for this time. Page, Beck, Gilmour, Howe, WHATEVER!. The music of the "70's is what it is. Take it from someone that dropped a needle on all these tunes. Just enjoy it. ROCK ON!
Live in the now. Take control of your culture and cultural experience. You don't need to be a passive consumer, pushed along by the flow of social normality. You can be a creator.
Yeah in my opinion David Gilmour is one of the best ever and my personal favorite guitarist. Nobody plays like him, his screaming guitar solos are epic. Totally unique sound. This solo and his solo on Time are just epic times 10.
He's great but not the best. Maybe top 10-15 on a good day. Floyd was Roger Waters, and very early on, Syd Barrett. Music is so subjective, though. It's whatever moves a person. Floyd were great. I was just never a super fan
@@TonyEnglandUK I did admit that it's subjective, but it's not a far fetched statement at all. He's great but probably not top 10. Certainly not the best, but it's whatever inspires you as a person. He's not better than Page. Clapton, Beck(rip). Peter Green and a handful of others. Just depends on what you like
You're posting opinions as if they were facts. In my opinion, he's leagues ahead of Peter Green. It's an opinion, not a fact. The original comment just said _"One of the best"_ just enjoy the music whoever's providing it..
I remember in my teens, I would listen to this whole album. Who thought headphones could transport you to another world? Full volume, 2-3am. Insomnia. Turn on my light (it was a blue light) sit there with my eyes closed. Smoke a bowl, and another. Those times are gone. Life doesn't hit me the same anymore, nor does music. I miss those days.
yep, I remember even getting really involved into what i was listening without any drugs very often, the music was like a drug itself, you could just listen, that was the process itself
I remember listening to this on vinyl with my headsets on full blast and just transcending to planet pink. What's up with these modern day headsets? I bought what was suppose to be the best out there and I can't get any volume out of them. I like my music loud but can't seem to find any modern equipment that delivers. I miss my Yamaha 275 watt amp with my cerwin vegan v-15s
@@yankeedolphin6286 Out of interest, which ones did you buy? I bought Sony XM4s and they're really incredible and the clarity is amazing especially with 360-degree sound and the noise cancelling. The problem, for me, is that they're not very loud. I may have damaged my hearing from going to clubs, gigs and concerts over the years because my son says they hurt his ears. I think the headphones he uses for his Playstation are louder. The noise cancelling is amazing and it does get really immersive... but when you want to crank it up and realise it's already at full volume, it can be quite disappointing. When it is too loud it gets hard to distinguish different instruments because they all blend together (which I hate), but I wish they had more kick to them.
"Music doesn't hit the same anymore." I use to run lights for a band...I kinda got burned out on some types...I'm happy to say that now I'm 57 and it has become important in my life again...plus I've found a whole new appreciation for bands and genres I use to not even give a thought to. Find something new to you, different....if music was ever that important to you...those feelings are still there, you just gotta go looking for them again.

Bought this album in January, 1977...43 years ago ...saw the Animals tour in June 1977 at the Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. That show was quite the spectacle, inflated figurines, the airplane crashing, the dry ice effects, the videos, and...true Quadrophonic sounds...Pa speakers on every corner of the arena!

Pink Floyd. What a time I had. Was introduced at the age of 20 and have never looked back. Tripped my brains out in Germany to some of the finest best music of that decade. Thanks to Pink Floyd I made it to the ripe old age of 72 and I'm still craving this and more. These days now leave me more open to other types of music but always back to the best first.
animals was the first concert of my life in milwaukee........division bell was the first concert i built as a stage hand.......two high points of my life...thank you pink floyd
Absolute geniuses. Floyd was ahead of the game in every aspect of music. No one then used the keyboards to create gems such as this one. No one then or no one now had lyrics that rein true to this day. MOTHER is a prime example. Roger asked Mother if he should trust the Government?? His remarks we exactly "NO FUCKING WAY" as he was performing the wall live in Chicago back in 2012. He said in 1979 as well as In 2012, that if u give our government and our police to much power we r on a very Slippery slope. The bastards r slowly taking every bit of rights we have. Pink Floyd is a class all by themselves. The legacy will go on forever.
I jam this tune at work loud then one day this old plumber comes out of the shop and says who in the F$&k is this ! It’s Pink Floyd bro ! He said man she rocks ! I cranked it up full blast WOW LOL !!!
When I took family leave to take care of my new grandson while my daughter finished her schooling. This is what this little guy listened to for his first year. Loud, and strong, he slept right through it. Well he's a senior in high school now, and guess whats on his ipad? I grew a Floydian.
The love of my life and I would listen to this album all the time... I miss You Jose ❤❤ R.I.P I continue to listen to this for us.. Wish you were here ! 💙
Proof of the true genius of this song. You have unlimited resources, now create a song equal to or better than this. I wouldn't even know where to begin. At the time there was nothing similar to even copy from. True musical genius, God given talent, and fate bringing together all that participated in its creation. There have been many good performers since, but few if any are their equal.
Marco Antoine Barbery The problem was that the band as individuals were never very happy with it. Gilmour, Mason and Wright all got less that Roger Waters in the profit take and their biggest regrets were the same: they all felt they should have contributed more. For a lot of Pink Floyd observers, it was becoming increasingly obvious that disharmony was pulling the band apart, a factor which barely saw them complete The Wall. From a lyrical stand point, it’s unique among their albums in that it’s angry. It looks at the people who dominate society and In turn, make it hard for everyone else to just get along. From a musical standpoint, it is so much greater than they ever thought it was, falling neatly between Wish You Were Here and The Wall where they kind of peaked and fell at the same time. In a way this album is almost underdone. It’s certainly underrated and never gets the widespread appreciation of their other albums. In the same way as the French export Cognac and keep Armagnac, one for hard core fans of the band to keep for themselves.
In my humble opinion, The Wall, Wish you Were Here, Dark Side recieved all the plaudits but this is their outstanding album; the concept, the cover, the music . . . the timing of it.
It smashes the mind fuckery of this world and they've dumbed down the populous and want them to remain there, hence this masterpiece remains hidden from the average millennial consumer.

This is the kind of great music that you can lose track of earthly problems and be taken to a different part of the universe and forget about life! It's awesome!
Here it is the year 2020 and Pink Floyd has still got what it Takes to do it for me . One of my favorite albums of theirs. Oh what am I saying I Love them all.🎶🎶
It’s no wonder Gen X is the fucking coolest generation ever! Our crib music was next level and by the time we were toddlers we just had it in our blood!
Born in 69 I was a little late for the music I love and with 4 older brothers hand me down music surrounded me. I remember a 45rpm with day tripper on it and another one with pinball wizard. Dark side of the moon was common music where ever we were until I heard it! Pigs 3 different ones I was completely blown away thinking of how could anybody write such great music. I was hooked at 9 years old with the large Floyd poster with the pyramid and pictures of them live, right next to the large Zeppelin and Yes posters that I looked at for hours imagining how awesome it would be. I would let people know my top 3 bands were Zeppelin, Floyd, and can never count out Sabbath. The first and really the only Sabbath. Now close to 45 years later I still try to imagine how it would be. Floyd will always be a big part of me and love them. Got a chance to see them 3times without Roger, but saw Roger with Jeff Beck playing with him. But Floyd took me away and I never came completely back
Clássico inigualável.. de uma época não tão distante, mas um abismo de qualidade em relação ao cenário atual.. eterno Pink Floyd, diferente de tudo e de todos.. Só agradeço!
1981 I bought my brother this 8 track and a wizard bong for Christmas. Me and my friends had to christen them before I wrapped them. Popped the tape in my old Chevelle and slowly cruised the back roads with the smoke screen going. What a glorious time it was.

Yaaa Me too bro!

I don't care what anyone says, David Gilmour is THE best guitar player on the planet, period.
Nathan Sutton Oh without a doubt.

He plays bass too?
Jonatan Olsén yes, In this song Roger plays the rhythm guitar and David the lead guitar and bass. He also played the bass on and some other Pink Floyd songs like Hey You, for example.
When you haven't listened to this song in a couple of years it sounds like the first time. I forgot how awesome it was.
Dave's bass guitar work on this is epic along with his guitar outro.

Comfortably Numb, Live in Pompeii, 2016. Watch a balding, grey haired old man give a display of electric guitar virtuosity.
He's great but not the best. Maybe top 10-15 on a good day. Floyd was Roger Waters, and very early on, Syd Barrett. Music is so subjective, though. It's whatever moves a person. Floyd were great. I was just never a super fan
@@ShawnConrad-tw8du lol, what drivel, behave yourself.

Same. Although once in awhile it still hits me.
yep, I remember even getting really involved into what i was listening without any drugs very often, the music was like a drug itself, you could just listen, that was the process itself
"Music doesn't hit the same anymore."
I use to run lights for a band...I kinda got burned out on some types...I'm happy to say that now I'm 57 and it has become important in my life again...plus I've found a whole new appreciation for bands and genres I use to not even give a thought to. Find something new to you, different....if music was ever that important to you...those feelings are still there, you just gotta go looking for them again.

No one then or no one now had lyrics that rein true to this day. MOTHER is a prime example. Roger asked Mother if he should trust the Government?? His remarks we exactly "NO FUCKING WAY" as he was performing the wall live in Chicago back in 2012. He said in 1979 as well as
In 2012, that if u give our government and our police to much power we r on a very

One of the most underrated albums of one of the best bands of all time
it's a classic to be re-disco-vered buy a new generation
Floyd die hards don't consider this album underrated. The problem was that the songs were so long that they didn't get much radio time.
This is definitely my favorite Floyd Album. I hope I get to listen to this one more time before I die someday
Marco Antoine Barbery I listen to it when I was like 9/10
In my humble opinion, The Wall, Wish you Were Here, Dark Side recieved all the plaudits but this is their outstanding album; the concept, the cover, the music . . . the timing of it.
