    So, as to your concern about scratching the car when unfolding and pulling the capsule top up and over the vehicle (the method as intended by the manufacturer, not your rope suspended, drive-in method) I was thinking that a lot of folks probably already have an existing car cover ('normal' type) already, or they coul get a cheap one.
    So, pull your car onto the base mat, cover with your 'old' car cover and then pull up the car capsule cover, zip up, etc.
    The old/cheap cover will help protect the car from scratches when installing the car capsule cover with only one person. Yes it would add another few minutes to the setup/put-away time, but worth it for many folks, maybe.

    After watching your review, I decided to move forward with the car capsule; as you mentioned it is expensive but in my case I just need it for storage purposes during the winter (no in and out) so it should work for me.Thank you so much!

      Same here, winter storage only. It is not just the salt on the streets, because when it dries, the salt dust floats and settles everywhere.

    Thanks for the review Nick. I was all set on a car cover a month ago. Then guys on the MB forum mentioned condensation, paint damage at the roof line, and rodents underneath. This morning, I found the CarCapsule link from an old forum thread. I got all excited...until I read some of the comments. Apparently condensation is still a problem. Ughhh! I noted the pros and cons, and my intention is to only store it long-term over the winter, December, January, and February not as a daily "garage" use--that would drive me crazy I think. I would have another cover for the sun and rain that I can easily pull on and off. Has anyone else who purchased it noticed any moisture issues within the capsule? Thanks

      @@PointShiftDrive Ok, I don't have one yet, but I am going to see if I can find any other reviews/comments on the topic. This has to work until I can build my garage. I can't have my next car exposed to the elements like my current. Thanks again for the review!

    Enjoyed seeing an actual users feedback. Live in the northeast and never had a garage to begin with so it's really sucked over the years. My nicer cars I was paying monthly storage but now those rates from over 30 years ago are ridiculous for a 10'x20' space plus the car is not close by. Have had my current car under 2 high quality car covers for the last 21 years. Can totally relate to stuff getting under the car. At least you live in CA. Being here I can't count how many times I was on my knees going under the car to shovel snow out that high wind snow drifts dumped under there, as well as all the leaves constantly being blown under it that I'd rake out from underneath. Besides the damn mice, which I finally wised up and bought some ultrasonic rodent repellars and peppermint balls, lately I've had the joy of finding dead half eaten rabbits and large birds under it. Have no idea what's killing them and using the underside of my car as it's dining room. After the last one I said enoughs enough! Just received the 18' model but haven't used it yet. I have an outlet on the side of my house I was planning to use to plug it in. It has one of the old style metal flip up doors. Wasn't sure yet how I could totally insulate it against rain, snow etc. I personally don't mind the color. As you said, black or white wouldn't be good. What color would you prefer it in?

    My man, that car capsule was not designed to be driven into and out of. It's a longer duration storage solution, so when you want to use the car, you unzip it completely and pull the top off the car.

    Really enjoyed your video. I own both the Carcapsule and a Carcoon made in the UK. Check it out if you are not aware of it. It is Silver, far easier on the eyes versus the Orange / Yellow color of the Carcapsule. The Outdoor Carcoon also uses a double layered top section that adds a second layer of protection of safety for your vehicle and better airflow. The air filters are far superior and are washable. I also purchased the battery charger option for both which gets set up inside the units protecting them from the environment. The Bottom layer is heavy vinyl which sits on the ground, the top is a reflective nylon that is lightweight so it is very easy to install over the car even solo so no more scratches. Personally, I use a boat tarp on the ground for both protecting the bottom from scratching because I have a stone driveway. The only advantage the Carcapsule has is heavier top construction but that is also the pitfall of the cover as you mentioned in your video. Cost wise both will set you back financially. I'm a big fan of both and they are far better than any car cover, they do not blow off in heavy winds and protect the entire car year round. Hope this info. helps you in some small way : )

    Update to my previous reply: after a year of use I ended up selling mine. Constant humidity and mould developing inside the car even when I unzipped it around 4 inches to let more air pass through. Nothing I did stopped moisture building up. Also a massive ballache getting the car in/out on your own. Ended up selling it and buying a drive in rigid car tent which never has any condensation in it and the car is always great when I go to it 🤷

    • @bkehlin
      @bkehlin 2 года назад +3

      No. They're designed to keep the cover inflated so nothing can hit your car. The fans actually push air into it, so if it's humid out, that moisture is now inside the capsule. You can buy "Damp rid" buckets that absorb moisture, and keep them inside with the car.

      Let me teach you something about physics: pressure. The air that comes in is humid expect (because the carbon filter next to both fan). That air comes in and flow out to where the zippers met at the end of the capsule (less pressure). The capsule is NOT hermetic. I am glad that I teach you something today. :)

    Hi! I just wondered how you were getting on with this 2 years down the line? I live in the UK and have purchased exactly the same model as you (18ft) but rebranded by another company. I have just taken my car out of the bubble after being in there through winter for 3 months, and everything is damp, mould inside the car, and I’ve marked and rubbed paint off the higher edges (like spoilers etc) where I have removed the cover. IMO, I just don’t think they are worth it and a car port or similar would be better, Although still out in the light etc, it has less contact with the paint and mine had condensation all over the roof. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      Mice can choose through anything. That being said the material is really thick and strong. It’s a constantly moving apparatus.
