RUclips recommended me this after 8 years. I remember watching this when it first came out. Blast from the past, miss the channel. Gonna have to catch up on the last 7 years of content lol
Thanks to this channel I've found out there's more to pomade just then Suavecito, so far I've been expanding my choices. I'm not saying SP sucks but it'll always be in my top for something easy and quick to use
Really great product! I have medium thick stiff "Mexican hair" that sticks straight out when cut short. Pomade lays my hair down pretty nicely. This pomade smells amazing, is very light and restyles with your fingers so nicely.
dead bird on steps I got that same problem I grew my hair out to the shoulders now lol used to get buzzcuts and wasn't down with paying 20 every other week to keep the sides from sticking out like s porcupine but even with thinning scissors my hsir still t h i c c as fuck just ordered some of this hopefully it's worth the hype
I've purchased this via your website, kudos to the great layout btw. The only suggestion i would say is what kind of hair these pomades are compatible with and the length of hair. Keep up the good work.
i gotta say the previous version of this pomade does not suit well for me unfortunately, because i live in a country which is hot, and its rarely cooling. So what happens is that the previous pomade on my hair starts to melt, and juz make my pomp look weird, I hope the new version of this will overcome that problem in terms of endurance. overall, im not saying that I dislike the previous version, i like it, its juz that there could be some improvements to it. Now that the new version is being released, i hope that it will be able to overcome the problems i had with the previous one :)
hey james great video review as always, ive been watched your video for quite a long time (i think about 2-3 years ) , back then i was impressed for layrite superhold that you told very good in yours video review and i try it but don't really suit my hair. So i am curious how this crystal lake compared to layrite superhold, is this better? cause i never try such a lightweight product (my hair type is thin and straight asian hair) , thanks james and keep up the good work
This pomade from someone who used an entire bottle is not so great, no hate on the review but it didn’t work for me so I feel that people should know this is just a regular product, don’t expect anything mind blowing
great looking pomade :) just quite a few people say it's a light hold and o hate light holds, thy just don't hold high styles and just seem to slick back. how would this work? or maybe there is something like this out there with more hold?
hi james, I recently picked up 2 jars of this. I used to use the one in the blue jar before it or reformulated and in my most recent pick up, it was in a clear jar. do you think I got a fake product? thanks
Am I the only one that thinks Shear Revival's Crystal Lake sucks? Perhaps it's just my hair specifically, but it is fairly terrible for me... It makes hair super greasy, the hold is sub-par (I get "rogue hairs" in the front), I can't get much height at all, and to top it all off it actually seems to make my hair look thinner somehow. This isn't to say Shear Revival is terrible, I just genuinely want to know if anyone else has these problems because everyone seems to think it's the best thing ever. Makes me wonder if I got a faulty jar or something haha.
I have a question regarding the value here; I live in Norway, and in order to get it here, I need to pay $13 in shipping and that makes it $28 in total. Is it worth it? Should I pull the trigger?
I'm really interested in buying this pomade, it looks great, but I want to make sure it works with my hair before I buy it. I have fine, wavy/curly hair. Would this product be good for me? If not what other water based pomades could you recommend? Thanks!
If your product had mold on it, Contact Shear Revival. Mine did the same thing because they had a problem with shelf life. They will send you the brand new Shear Revival with a free shave oil. I just got mine and pre orders aren't even done! So just send them an email and your good!
Um I have thick wavy/curly hair and I haven't used this, however, judging by the fact that this is a medium hold water base, I doubt it would do that. That's what heavies are for like Lockhart heavy and Layrite superhold
I have ultra thick wavy hair and I use this. I don't use any other hair product unless it's out of stock, otherwise I make it a point to order it monthly, that's how much I like it. But take note, it does lose its holding power throughout the day but that may be because I live in a hot climate
Personally don't like Water Based Pomades, for me it's all about the "grease" Reuzel or just good ol Murray's Pomade. Medium holds are what's best for my hair, heavys will rip out all of my hair.
Well, I live in Mexico City where it can get very hot at times and it has endured perfectly, keep in mind that it has a medium hold tho. If you can get your hands on it I think you'd enjoy it, it's out of stock in the website, I got lucky and found it in a barber shop in downtown Mexico.
you are The Verge of the pomade reviewer, the most up to date one and the best in quality, great review as always. 🙏
+Bili Meyer James is truly a pioneer
+Eeriewolf He really is the best, the video quality, the angles and the reviews are just incomparable
+Bili Meyer definitely the reason why he's the most subscribed pomade reviewer (to my knowledge)
And it is not enough
The Verge is trash lmao

+Vincent723 Same. Started out with Suavecito and moved on to way better things.

"You got a noodle on your shirt"
Never clicked on a video so fast till i saw this one

Yo get Harrison to have a review on it please.

Would this pomade melt under hot weather? The weather in Singapore is really hot and melts some of my pomades...
This pomade from someone who used an entire bottle is not so great, no hate on the review but it didn’t work for me so I feel that people should know this is just a regular product, don’t expect anything mind blowing
Shipping to Canada? No option on The Approved List
Are you going too review the reformulated O'douds ?
great looking pomade :) just quite a few people say it's a light hold and o hate light holds, thy just don't hold high styles and just seem to slick back. how would this work? or maybe there is something like this out there with more hold?
It doesn't go out in one go to be honest. The Day after I used it there was a bit of grease in my hair.
Can the pomade still roll up into a ball? I found that cool.
damn your new hair makes you look like the slim version of Kim Jong Un
What in your opinion is the best smelling shear revival pomade?
this stuff is so hard to find online! every site it is either out of stock or back ordered!
hi james, I recently picked up 2 jars of this. I used to use the one in the blue jar before it or reformulated and in my most recent pick up, it was in a clear jar. do you think I got a fake product? thanks
That's the 2nd batch of crystal lake after the blue jar, right before reformation. So no, it's not a fake product don't you worry
+codenametrollderp all right, thanks you sir
Does Teddy Boy or this have a stronger hold?
Bro where did you get your necklace
how does this compare to railcar fine goods pomade supreme hold
That haircut is dope af
if my hair is wet at all, it clumps up and falls out into the floor. if my hair is dry it doesn't work...
Am I the only one that thinks Shear Revival's Crystal Lake sucks?

+Zach Johnson I'm in the same boat as you. I wouldn't say it sucks, but it doesn't work for me. For sure it works well for James.
Zach Johnson yes you're the only one
Where did you get the denim shirt?
Can someone please help me decide on buying this product or the Daimon Barber #1? Thanks
how does this compare to odouds water based?
James where did you get your jacket and what's it called?
it's from ronin division no longer have it
Where can I buy it everytime I look it's sold out
Where do you get your combs? I see that one almost all the time with other youtube reviewers!
2 years too late but it's a cricket comb
Can I get this product outside the US?
Just wanna say this doesnt work as well in a high humidity region like S.E.A. as it just flops into a mess for me
what is thank you base pomp
?
I have a question regarding the value here; I live in Norway, and in order to get it here, I need to pay $13 in shipping and that makes it $28 in total. Is it worth it? Should I pull the trigger?
Exotic Farmer just get Murray’s
where did you get that shirt?
Is it supposed to be hard when picking it out of the can? It's like really stiff
+NEG Toxic3Dcats That's how mine is too. It' s fine though, just dig out what you need and rub together for a bit.
it's impossible to get this product.
what would you use to keep it up? i know there's hairspray but it doesn't make it look nice
Ryan Fortune the pomade by itself
w2c coaches jacket?
where are you from sir?
I'm really interested in buying this pomade, it looks great, but I want to make sure it works with my hair before I buy it. I have fine, wavy/curly hair. Would this product be good for me? If not what other water based pomades could you recommend? Thanks!
how nicely does it wash out of the hair????
It's a water base so... obviously very easily
i did not touch mine for awhile and then i went to open it up and there was black mold all over it
Maybe you didn't wash your hands thr last time you used it.
It's also one of the reasons why it went trough reformulating for a few months.
If your product had mold on it, Contact Shear Revival. Mine did the same thing because they had a problem with shelf life. They will send you the brand new Shear Revival with a free shave oil. I just got mine and pre orders aren't even done! So just send them an email and your good!
Trevor Kierce do you know the contact email?
shearrevival@email.com
can you add hair spray on top of a pomade?
Yes
how long does a jar last?
Penn Lin it's 4oz I would say a month at least with normal usage like 5 days a week for work you know less if you use on weekends
looks similar to "3"
How can you tell which one is the new one and which one is the old one?
Jason Truong The old one is discontinued
i already got it thx tho
Jason Truong What do you think? I'm thinking of getting it
I'd definetly recomend it like I don't know much about pomade but it slicks really nice and my friends always tell me how good my hair smells
Jason Truong Ok thank you. By the way are you related to Harrison?
It's still out of stock T_T
Will this hold curly really think hair?
Um I have thick wavy/curly hair and I haven't used this, however, judging by the fact that this is a medium hold water base, I doubt it would do that. That's what heavies are for like Lockhart heavy and Layrite superhold

Irfan Yang W You use all of it in a month?
Best water based o'douds, no doubt.
Why?
Personally don't like Water Based Pomades, for me it's all about the "grease" Reuzel or just good ol Murray's Pomade. Medium holds are what's best for my hair, heavys will rip out all of my hair.
You probably never used crystal lake. It's not a water based like suavecito, it feels pretty much like a grease just a slight cleaner.
Looks like you need to be introduced to unorthodox waterbases
Then you don't know what you're talking about. Try this one first, then you'll know what we are talking about
Unorthodox water based are my personal choice, but different things work for different people.
Adrian Padilla it’s not water based it’s unorthodox
So Is this one, the best Water based pomade ever?
BAsed pomp .
Who is this Zach guy you talk about so much?
The guy behind Shear Revival... I think.
Oh, thanks Justus :) by the way, I just bought it and it is in fact an awesome pomade.
+Jair Barbosa Haha that's cool :) I've been thinking about buying this pomade but I'm kinda worried about how well it endures in hot climates.
Well, I live in Mexico City where it can get very hot at times and it has endured perfectly, keep in mind that it has a medium hold tho. If you can get your hands on it I think you'd enjoy it, it's out of stock in the website, I got lucky and found it in a barber shop in downtown Mexico.
Nevermind, it's on stock again, I just checked haha
