As someone who has been using a 7500 as my primary daily shooter since right after it was released, the answer is - Absolutely. For Street Photography, Portraits, or Landscapes, the 7500 is an outstanding performing camera at an affordable price.
Cannot agree more, using affordable lens for street photo such as Tamron 70-300mm VC , I got almost same results as high end lenses would make on much expensive cameras.
Thank You, I bought the Camera sight unseen and have been catching flack from other Photo Club members! I had the D7100 and gave it away for the D7500? I probably did a bad deal by buying this D7500
I use my Nikon D7500 for my main camera. I did a shot this last weekend that wanted 4k video and stills. I was able to do both with this camera. The images came out great. I set the shutter to 1/60 th and let it roll. The video was great!
Good advice Bryan, I bought mine a few years ago second-hand, having had a couple of other Nikon cameras, including the P1000. But I sold them on, when I came across the 7500 in a local camera shop. I've never looked back, it does everything I wasn't from a camera, and it handles a Nikon 200-500 with ease, okay it may not be the fastest autofocus, but it's dam sharp and with a few tweaks of the in-camera settings the quality is great. Most people who have cameras are not professionals, but will still go and pay a fortune, thinking it will make their pictures 100% better. What makes a good photographer, is having a good eye to composition, and learning everything there is to know about how your camera works. Just for reference, my standard go-to lens is the Nikon 18-200, it covers every eventually when needed in an instant!
Completely agree will all the reasoning. Moved from a D3000 to the D7500 with the 18-140 kit lens early this year. Took a while to adjust to the controls, but no regrets. I started out with an F over 50 years ago and still consider myself a novice.
I had a D5600 and upgraded to D7500. I like the bigger viewfinder. I like seeing the numbers more easily in the viewfinder. I like the two control dials. I like the mirror up mode. I like AF fine tuning. I really like setting the OK button to 100 percent zoom in playback. In fact I need to sell the D5600 because I can barely use it anymore.
Been contemplating upgrading my D3300 recently. Usually just shoot photos like landscape, city, etc for a hobby/enthusiast and wanted to stay with the DX series since I have good DX lenses. This video, especially the "moment of clarity" helped give the 7500 an edge in purchasing.
Same here, i have my D3300 replaced with D7500 with 18-140mm 3 months ago, as i have some incredible prime DX lenses.I confused with Z50 but I opted this Camera for its dynamic colours.
Thank you for this review! I unfortunately dropped my D3500 last week and broke the body and cracked my Nikon 70-300mm lens as well. I cried.😂 This review helped me decide on the D7500 and it arrived yesterday and I’m in LOVE! I’m old school and still love the DSLR and not ready to switch over to mirrorless or learn the new technology just yet. This camera is beautiful, shoots beautifully and feels amazing in hand. Unfortunately I had to also purchase two new lens but I’m happy with the purchase.
Funny, I just stumbled on this vid, just had a conversation with my friend yesterday where she told me she was ready to upgrade from her D3200 and I recommended the D7500. So I just sent her this. Thanks, bro.
feel so lucky that I got a D7500 practically for free. My brother bought this camera when he went to multimedia school and nowadays he doesn't use it anymore. Since I want to pick up photography again, I just took this camera. At first, I didn't know what it was but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was the D7500.
Looking to upgrade my old D5100. I have 3 lenses so want to stay DX. I just can't afford to go FX. And I'm brand loyal and not a professional but can produce some professional quality photos. Nice video.
I sold this camera a few years ago for a Z50. Instant regret. It runs circles around the Z50 for sports, action and wildlife. It's a joy to use as well. I've also owned the D500 and D700. The D7500 is as close as you can get to mirrorless without going mirrorless. Unlike the D500 it remains relatively small. The deals on F mounts lenses is outstanding now. Also, the AF-P trio of zooms have state-of-the-art autofocus and can keep up with the camera, plus they are cheap. Buy the 10-20, 18-55 and 70-300 AF-P. Then grab the 35mm 1.8 DX and 50mm 1.8 and you're done. It really is amazing what this camera can do. Super battery life, great ergo...you always want to pick it up...and reliable AF. What's not to like?
I had the z50 and z30 sold them both. Now looking at d7500 since I’ve started with evf I do prefer the OVF. The F mount lenses are less expensive too. However bodies are a little larger. Debated on getting Pentax again but I think I will go with the F mount. Maybe those lenses will work on some Nikon film cameras too
Great video. I liked that you kept it short and concise but still managed to get a lot of good information in. Plus it helped that you not only included who this camera is for, but who it is *not* for. I am looking to upgrade from the 3000 series and I found this video VERY helpful and informative. Thank you!
Currently this camera D7500 is about $720. USD new or $1000 Canadian dollars new (1.39 conversion rate) provided you can find a new one. Used is also good. For photos, including wildlife or action, this camera is very good for lens owners of DX and FX.
I have this camera (Nikon D7500) for a two years now and I agree what You said. This camera exceeds my expectations and I try to describe them below: - 8 FPS is useful - when shooting animals, but You have to be aware that sometimes You will be forced to review more than 1000 photos - so believe me, when You are not a professional animal photographer the 8 FPS will be more than You need; - autofocus performance is great - I have autofocus issues only with heavy (and very good) Sigma Art 50-100 due to its shallow DOF. With Sigma 100-400, Nikkor AF-S 18-105, Nikkor AF-S 50 autofocus is very good (please take into consideration that these lenses are not a professional lenses). Sigma Art 50-100 has problems when autofocus is set on points far from the center point (maybe it is issue of my lens) - autofocus performance with AF-P (new steeper motor autofocus, as I know actually used also in Z-Mount lenses) is awesome both in video and photo. Video from D7500 is much more than I need, because I prefer shooting photos - but for occasional video D7500 and AF-P 18-55 should be enough, when You are not a videographer; - this body is durable - accidentally my set (D7500 with Sigma 100-400 attached) fall of from 1,8 m to the grass - lens had to be repaired by Sigma Service but the body works fine - I did not observe any problems (please, don't test it). It works also for 4 hours under -10 degrees of Celsius without any problems; - one slot is not an issue for me - If I were a professional photographer, I would rather have two cameras instead of one; - no measurements with some very old lenses - I don't care, I don't have any; - battery life is very good: In medium conditions - at temperature about 8 degrees of Celsius I shot ~1300 photos (not lamp, but with heavy lens with autofocus working all the time) and battery level was at 80%. At -10 degrees of Celsius after 4 hours battery level was more than 40 % (I used external lamp occasionally, but I do not remember how many shots was taken); - image quality: outperforms my old Nikon D3000 (which I still love for its lightweight and skin tones it produces) almost in every aspect. I have no regrets that I bought D7500, but now the prices are too high - I paid lower price for new body than someone wants for used. If You thinking about D7200 instead of D7500, take D7500 - the only one reason where D7200 is better is that You have measurements with very old F-mount lenses, but it is not a good direction - believe me - try any AF-P lens and You will never want go back to old, noisy, soft screw-driven or manual lenses.
Hello Brian, I bought my second D7500 some days ago. I don´t wonna miss this Camera only one day. I have to feel the sound of the mirror. No way out...
Hi! I've seen this video and I was really convinced on buying this camera. I currently use film photography format and my camera is a Nikon F-601 and after using this camera for 1 year I want to make the change, my camera also has the same mount as this one (f-mount). So thank you for this video!
Muito obrigada, Bryan!!! Seu video me alertou demais! Eu estava pensando em comprar ela nova, mas depois do seu comentário sobre ela ja estar saindo de linha e que por esse valor encontro opções melhores, irei rever minhas decisões. Obrigada pela honestidade! 🙌🏻✨💛
I just bought this camera because I’m upgrading from a D3200 and already had some DX lenses. I’m watching mirrorless, and I’m very interested in a canon R5 as well, but did not want to shell out that kind of dough…. Yet…. I may still get the R5 before my trip to Brooks Falls next year (think bears…. hunting salmon…. on a waterfall…), but I think the 7500 will be great for me until then.
Thank Bryan for the 411. I currently own a D3500. I would love to upgrade. I shoot strictly photos; landscapes, cityscapes, etc. No video at all but I want to stay with DX format because I have primes and zooms. One question, IS THE D7500 WEATHER SEALED? Because my D3500 is very limited when it comes to bad weather. I just don't take that risk shooting. Overall very informative and thanx.
I really enjoyed your video & I feel so much better now. It took me hours, yes hours, to find the right camera. I purchased the Nikon 7500. I can't wait to get my hands on my new camera, LOL.
Thank you for this. I've been looking for an updated review of D7500 and I like how you highlight not only its strengths but where its lacking at. I'm contemplating of buying a D7500 or a Z50 primarily because I'm still onto old school DSLRs when it comes to photography (OVF, longer batt, larger build), but I am somewhat considering myself dabbling into filmography as well (where I've experienced the convenience of a mirrorless Sony a7ii's thru renting). Overall because of my openness to filmography / hybrid, even though I prefer owning a DSLR I am slowly leaning more towards owning a mirrorless.
You're welcome Miryl. You're right about mirrorless, it's convenient and for me, easier to compose shots with less strain on my body haha. I would say for hybrid definitely go mirrorless.
I owned a Z50 and D7100 at the same time, the Z50 though more modern and handy was fare less capable image quality wise, to the point that I don't think the images were that much better than my phone camera and didn't warrant keeping the camera.
Great video Bryan, you explained the D7500 very well. I agree with you that the D75 takes excellent photos but the video, while still very useful for me, does not do a great job of keeping focus with objects that move often/quickly. I record a lot of interviews and corporate speeches where the subject doesn't move much, so it's great for those kinds of videos. My external mic does decent job with sound. So I'm getting plenty of use out of the D7500, but saving up for the next camera upgrade.
Great, concise video. I've been looking to upgrade my old D3200, having a few lenses for it. Sadly no refurbished cameras at a good price in Chile, and shipping costs are high.
Hello, I very much enjoyed your video. I have had it for a number of years (4 yrs) and I put it down. Now I am retired and picked it up again as now I have the time to work with it. There is a lot of things I have known about the camera but due to lack of use I feel like it is a new camera. Been off and on since 1971 doing photography so it is an itch that does not go away. I will also see if you have any more Videos Thank Ray
I felt like you were speaking to me directly. Just purchase this second hand and was a lil nervous, but you really reassured my purchase. I moving from a D5500 model and still keep the old school camera feeling (Manual VIEWFINDER) and just me and the camera… maybe film but I got an iPhone for that. Thanks for the video, Cheers. 😊🎉
Thanks for the Video! I love the Ruggedness of the Nikon. Here in Canada the Nikon D7500 and Canon RP were almost identical in price, as i plan on shooting some video i decided on the RP. Definitely still keeping an eye out for a used D7500 though!
I watched your video on the advantages and disadvantages of the D7500 and found it quite informative. I have a question for you: Which camera would you recommend for taking pictures for a food blog? I also plan on filming myself cooking for the blog, so your answer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
My friend is looking at the D7500 or a Z50. Both cost the Same, and have on the surface, similar specs. Both are a little long in the Tooth, but I doubt Nikon will be releasing a newer DSLR to replace it. He is currently using my trusty 18 yr old D200. My last DSLR was a D850, it was a POS, and I got rid of it, switching to ML, in the form of a Z9
Glad to so an updated review/remarks concerning this camera. I was given this camera as a gift and wanted to start learning how to use it. However, my question is this camera good for taking photos to place on websites? I design websites for local businesses and wanted to start adding a unique touch by capturing original photos and images specifically related to their businesses. Will this camera be a good fit? Thanks.
I use the d5500 and i wanna upgrade but i use live view for my pics almost always. And i was seriously considering this camera ..but now i might switch up to tue d750, since i shoot automotive..granted the cars usually arent in motion most if the time..but when they are i need my live view to be tack sharp
hello, I have a d7500...in aperture mode.....my auto focus used to display many boxes at the object its focused on..but now it only has 1 square focus box in the centre and I really want it back to multiple focal boxes...I let someone shoot with my cam and they messed up my auto focus settings..HALP!
Wonderful video! I've been using this one for video, I do wish it had a flip out view finder so i could see what i look like 😅 I'd love to know if getting a different lens would make this look a bit better to film with (i use it for youtube videos)? I just have a really old 18-55mm body kit lens. Even though I have this, Im glad you cemented some of my questions around it too like the autofocus and 1080p etc. so big thank you!
Good info. I have a D5500, which just recently started acting wack which I discovered was due to a frozen info button when I tried to do a reset so now I'm looking. I'm leaning toward the 7500 but was curious to know what cameras you were referring to when you said that there were better choices in the purchased-new D7500 price range.
I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out if I should upgrade my D3100 (had it 12 years and it was a little beast! but it is sadly starting to show its age). This video was absolutely perfect in answering my questions, so thank you very much! I had been debating between this and going mirrorless, but you convinced me to stick with my original choice of the D7500. 😊
I'm looking to upgrade to the 7500 from my D3500, but with Nikon starting to discontinue their DSLRs, I'm worried that the D7500 will become obsolete sooner rather than later. In your opinion, do you think the Z50 would be a better option to buy now? Strictly for photography, no video.
Great video glad I came across it I got this when it first came out and I am still very happy with my purchase. I pair this with a blackmagic and it’s the perfect combo
It's March 2023 and I was seconds away from purchasing the Nikon z50 when I discovered this mirrorless camera doesn't have a focus motor. My current camera is a Nikon D5200 and I was hoping to upgrade to a cam era that can use any Nikon lens with full functionality.
Been shooting with this camera for a couple years now. And I totally agree for photography this camera is amazing… for video. It is definitely lacking a lot. Still gets great video for say b-roll. Clips. I use it filming tattoo artists and it makes some crispy clips forsure. But overall the focusing is like a c- student lol If you wanna film look into the new iPhone, GoPros 360 cam, and Ofcourse Sony cameras. As for live view shooting it is not too bad I use it allll the time. Using the touchscreen and knowing how the camera works in different lighting you’ll be able to use it with little to no issues. 🙏🤙 I rate this camera a 8/10 for photography. And a 5/10 for video
D90 was my first DSLR. The best pictures I ever took were with that camera. Maybe because my enthusiasm level was more then. But totally understand wanting to get a camera with more features.

@@jamesthomas-uc9wq it's definitely miles ahead of your cell phone but I understand your experience with the camera.
I'm sold. Thank you. Also, I love your photos.
I bought my first D7500 end of 2018.
Amazing job man, thank you for all this information, grettings from Buenos Aires
Thank you!!! I have been thinking about buying this since last year. I am definitely buying it now.
Hope you enjoy it!
I have one and love it. I have had mine for years.
The shutterbug itch never goes away! Thanks Ray.
Glad I could help!
Love your video alot of info to learn about ❤
Glad you found it helpful!
Hi! Is the D7500 a good choise after D90?
it was incredible for me, I still like my D90 though.
If you want to stay in the DSLR world, it's a great pickup! It served me well for years- even doing professional work.
Nice review, I've never owned a DSLR and after a truck load of research I've settled on a 7500..... I have a winning bid on ebay right now!
Thanks ! I hope you win 🤞🏾
@@BryanKeithPhoto Cheers man.
Yes! I'm! I dont not why, but i think it's very good camera with 18-140 for 1200$
I would not pay that amount for that combo. You can probably find it cheaper online via eBay.
Thanks for the Video! I love the Ruggedness of the Nikon. Here in Canada the Nikon D7500 and Canon RP were almost identical in price, as i plan on shooting some video i decided on the RP. Definitely still keeping an eye out for a used D7500 though!
Great choice! Definitely buy this camera used and pair it with good glass..
Great video. I’m thinking about getting back into photography and that’s the camera I use.
I watched your video on the advantages and disadvantages of the D7500 and found it quite informative. I have a question for you: Which camera would you recommend for taking pictures for a food blog? I also plan on filming myself cooking for the blog, so your answer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Start with your iPhone and LED panel. You, the light, and lens are more important than your camera.
Would this be a good camera for concert photography?
I was on the fence about getting this. Looks like I will. Great Video.
Thank you! Glad I could help.
Bryan, this was extremely helpful. I appreciate you!
I like the pop up flash. Thr d500 doesnt have one if im not mistaken
Great video useful information 👍
Glad it was helpful!
I bought it new for €799 in 2019 when there was a special offer from Nikon (cashback) . No regrets, great camera. Looked today, costs €1149😯.
Crazy, right! Sounds like you made a great investment!
I still have a couple of old d series f mount lens and seriously looking at this to get more use out of the lens.
Thanks.
Yes, this camera is well suited for website photos.
I bought this new and love this camera.
I also have a D780 and Z6ii and still grab the D7500 for photography
Hey Robert do you do bird photography?
That’s wild, why?
I just got my hands on one. Thanks for the info
Great great video man.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I use the d5500 and i wanna upgrade but i use live view for my pics almost always. And i was seriously considering this camera ..but now i might switch up to tue d750, since i shoot automotive..granted the cars usually arent in motion most if the time..but when they are i need my live view to be tack sharp
hello, I have a d7500...in aperture mode.....my auto focus used to display many boxes at the object its focused on..but now it only has 1 square focus box in the centre and I really want it back to multiple focal boxes...I let someone shoot with my cam and they messed up my auto focus settings..HALP!
you can set again
Thanks Bryan for this helpful information. I didn't know this about the auto-focus on this model.
Happy to help!
Good review brother.
Much appreciated!
Enjoyed this video - your photographs are stellar. Have you shot sports or wildlife with the D7500?
Thank you. I have shot sports with it paired with the 70-200, the photos came out great!
I was ready to buy a D7500 or a D500 or a D850.
Your advice my friend. I have Nikon D7000. Is it worth buying it for 600 euros with 44000 clicks?
I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out if I should upgrade my D3100 (had it 12 years and it was a little beast! but it is sadly starting to show its age). This video was absolutely perfect in answering my questions, so thank you very much! I had been debating between this and going mirrorless, but you convinced me to stick with my original choice of the D7500. 😊
Glad I can help!
What options would you recommend around the 1k for Nikon? I sold my Sony, could not get used to it especially in editing
Yes, I think the z50 is the better buy. Just buy the FTX adapter and you should be shooting in no time.
Great video glad I came across it I got this when it first came out and I am still very happy with my purchase. I pair this with a blackmagic and it’s the perfect combo
I use a blackmagic as well!
Dawg you just helped me all the way out 🕶️💯
Yep.I bought mine refurbished from Nikon. Love it
The best way! 💪
Terrific review. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
It's March 2023 and I was seconds away from purchasing the Nikon z50 when I discovered this mirrorless camera doesn't have a focus motor. My current camera is a Nikon D5200 and I was hoping to upgrade to a cam era that can use any Nikon lens with full functionality.
The d7500 has a focus motor and I've seen some used for around $600 USD
Is this good for studio self portrait? I don't know much about camera btw. Can i see some like raw e shots, self portrait shots from this. Tysm.
Bro predicted the future 2 years back 🔥
did you shoot this video with the nikon d7500?
No, I filmed it with the Fuji X-S10
Good points on this camera sir.
Thank you for the information.
Thanks for watching!
@@BryanKeithPhoto You’re welcome!
I found one with less than 300 shutter clicks for $530.00 the camera is in Mint condition. Also it truly is a good camera for photos.
That's a steal! Enjoy!
What’s a good camera for shooting videos
Hi man. Great video.
I've got the 7500 myself. What are the lenses you used for the body?
Been shooting with this camera for a couple years now. And I totally agree for photography this camera is amazing… for video. It is definitely lacking a lot. Still gets great video for say b-roll. Clips. I use it filming tattoo artists and it makes some crispy clips forsure. But overall the focusing is like a c- student lol
If you wanna film look into the new iPhone, GoPros 360 cam, and Ofcourse Sony cameras.
As for live view shooting it is not too bad I use it allll the time. Using the touchscreen and knowing how the camera works in different lighting you’ll be able to use it with little to no issues.
🙏🤙 I rate this camera a 8/10 for photography. And a 5/10 for video
I find it hard to recommend when the d7200 exists especially if you are buying used.
Why is that? Have you used both?
Just got the d7500....i like the IQ and dynamic range more than the D500.....
Great clip, thank you 🙏
I am currently using the Nikon D90... I know I know.. about time for an upgrade.
Upgrade only when you are ready!
D90 was my first DSLR. The best pictures I ever took were with that camera. Maybe because my enthusiasm level was more then. But totally understand wanting to get a camera with more features.
Thanks Bryan, so which recent cameras would you recommend for photos and videos please that is same price or slightly higher. Please
Nikon z50, z6... Thanks for watching.
if anyone knows where can I find battery grip for my d7500 please send me link. I’been looking on every site but can’t find one
They are discontinued everywhere unfortunately.
I like my D7500 I upgraded from the D3200.
Hey, dude what up have a question I have the D3200 camera with the lens with it fit D7500
Yes, the lens will work just fine.
will it overheat , for shooting youtuve video (obs)/?
nikon d7500 vs canon 77d what do you reccomand ? btw the nikon is more expensive than the canon
Can't help you with this one. I've never used the Canon 77d
I've been searching for a fairly cheap nikon camera and seems like this one is perfect for me but I wonder does it make any sense if I have a D90?
D7500 or Z50? Main concern is portraits, touring memories and friends and family function?
I would get the z50 today. It's lighter and has better auto focus.
Z50 for touring, it's pratic and lighter
Is the d7500 good for making RUclips videos?
Dope video bro.. Keep up the grind 💪🏾
Thanks bro 💪🏾
