I do not know why, but this video is my favorite from your channel. You are a powerful tool for Nikon because you damn near just sold me a D750 and I just acquired a D850 last week
I just bought a Nikon d7500 would like for you to explain about blinking lights and RGB highlights how to fix those blinking lights maybe so examples on how to fix thank you
This was the most underrated camera in the history of cameras... All because it didn't have 2 card slots. The pictures that this camera produces are so amazing that they helped me get my first few jobs for a local/national biology institute, without even having a portfolio, just by showing some SOOC picture samples I took beforehand. I just bought a Z6ll few weeks ago and I will still be using the D7500 as my secondary camera. Yes, the images D7500 produces are that good. For all those who are having second thoughts, don't, I shoot with most of the popular cameras in the past 2-3 years, including the A7lll, EOS R, EOS RP, XT3, XT4 and so on and so forth but none produce better images, which is why I never upgraded to mirrorless until I first tried Nikons Z6ll few weeks ago, so if you have second thoughts because of all these new mirrorless cameras, again, don't, because unless you plan on spending around 1,900 EUR or more on a Z6ll, R6, a7R4 and so on, you won't find a camera that produces better images. I remembered this video and I came back to say this to all the people who are buying a DSLR in the price point of the D7500!
Oddly enough, the D7500 predecessor - D7200 - had two card slots. What does that say about progress? Pros would most likely opt for the dual card system for the extra 'insurance' with important shots. Other than that, using only top-quality SD cards is the best insurance, as Jared has suggested 👍
As a 71 year old who has only had a D7500 for a short time, I like the calm and informative way you go through the buttons and settings, often giving specific examples of how to use them. Thanks!
Hello Jared - I bought this Camera sight unseen and used it a little bit but I can't seem to Navigate thru it with the Touchscreen! I will probably give the Camera to my niece and let her enjoy it a little better than I have been doing with it! I am 76 and went back to my Nikon D300s as my go too Camera! But, Thank You for your insight and Instructions on this Camera!
Always read the manual provided, because some things that are not mentioned or explained in depth through a video are right there in the table on content !! Such as how to turn on the exposure compensation !
I own my D7500 foe over 6 month and didn't know what this camera can do till i watched Jared's very detailed video i highly recommend for anyone to watch Thank You
I’ve had the d7500 for about 8 months and have had some great Indy Car photos at a race before watching your video, but you have helped me tremendously to better understand more of what all these adjustments really do - Thank you for making this camera more usable! I really appreciate your tutorial. Thanks again
Thank you, Jared, your video was posted on 2018. I am 51yrs. old and just got this camera d7500. Luckily, I found your video really explain lots of things I just know. I am getting better and really well setting up and understanding more this kind camera. So, thank you very much.
Excellent video. I'm a long-time Nikon user - D70, D200, D300S, D7100, and just this week purchased a D7500 - and this was a comprehensive intro to the 7500. Many thanks.
I just got my D7500 last night and enjoyed this video. Way better than reading that 300+ page manual. I did appreciate the "Don't worry about that" on settings that are not that important.
Thank you Jared. I just bought this camera that will replace my old friend, a Nikon D80. Although the D7500 is already an old camera, it will be a great improvement over the D80. Thank you very much. I am writing to you from the south of Brazil. Your video was the best I have found. Now I have to learn all these new features in practice. Best, Celso.
Not all heroes wear capes. I upgraded to d7500 from d90 a week ago and I was feeling a little lost. THANK YOU! This is awesome. Will subscribe and tell friends.
Jared I can’t thank you enough for this !!! Just got the camera yesterday, after watching your tutorial, I feel like I’ve had it for a year . Thanks a TON !!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I just want to say this video was AMAZING! I bough this camera 2 weeks ago and fell more in love with it after watch this video! Thank you for being so informative and keep up the great work!!
this video made my day! i bought a D7500, trying the setting for the last one day. i found this video and i SET all in 15 mins! Wow to this video. thanks a lot.
I picked up my D7500 day before yesterday and this video is exactly what I needed. Made with a good sense of humor and your articulation makes it easy to understand. Greetings from Finland
This video was incredibly more helpful than my Nikon manual - after flipping back and forth to find out how to use features, I desperately went to youtube. Jared, in one short afternoon, I learned all the serious stuff I wanted to know and then some! THANK YOU!!
Very interesting. I have had this camera for Year+ but retired recently and wanting to learn more about the D7500. A lot of stuff I picked up watching this. I figured out the best thing to do is as you are talking keep my finger on the pause button so I can replay it for as many times that I need it.
Used a d3300 the last 8 years so upgrading to this camera I knew I had to look up instructions previous to having it in my hands. And this is the best 100% thumbs up wonderful review on how everything works
In 2023, in the age of Mirrorless, 7500 is still a very good camera. Bought it last year only. I mostly shoot wildlife. At the price of a Mirrorless, I got myself this beauty and a 200-500 mm lens. 😄. The image quality is superb. I carry extra SD cards and swipe easily. It's not a Big deal.
Thanks for a great video tutorial Jared. I have just purchased a D7500 as an upgrade from a D5600 and was amazed at how different the controls are on these two models. Your video really helped me understand all the settings etc and now I don't feel so daunted about operating this camera. Great work Jared, always a treat to watch your videos. Cheers buddy
Just bought a refurb D7500 and it should be arriving next week. Thank you for posting this Mr. Polin.......it will really help me set my new camera up!!!! Coming from a D7000.
I got my degree in photography back in 1993 (Yes that was a long time ago) I am an old school photographer. Finding a place to get film developed with out costing an arm and a leg was getting very hard, and that was 10 years ago. Seance then my husband and I started our own business that has nothing to do with photography. But over the last couple of years I have really missed being a photographer and a couple weeks ago told my husband I wanted to get back into photography, at least as a hobby. I wanted a nice DSLR, and after a lot of research the D7500 seams to be the best choice. I was and still a bit intimidated by the digital part of photography But by far your instructional videos are the easiest for me to follow. I have subscribed to your channel and will be going to your website shortly.
Hey Jared Polin, you have the BEST tutorial out of the DOZENS to tutorials and how tos that I have watched on RUclips for my Nikon D7500, so you have a new subscriber. Not only was your video straight to the point it was also informational and instructional as you got me up to speed on how to use my camera really fast. THANK YOU!!!
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH JARED. THIS VIDEO WAS AWESOME. I WILL BE RETIRING MY NIKON D7000 THAT I HAVE HAD FOR 10 YEARS AND NOW LOOKING TO PURCHASE THE NIKON D7500.
Thank you for doing this. I'm not into gear - I still have an occasionally use a D100 and D70, but most of my work is done with a D80 and a D5200. And I'm shooting film again with an RB67 and 4x5. But I decided to get a new camera and bought the D7500. Lord, what a nightmare. You almost really do have to be a rocket scientist! But you made this easy to understand and helped me find the things that matter most - how to set the ISO, get a focusing point, set my aperture and shutter speed. Everything else is just bells and whistles. Thanks!
Received the D7500 for christmas and had been trying multiple times to read the manual and my eyes got blurry crossed and just exhausted. The manuel is tiny but so happpppppppy to have stumbled onto your video very informative and also made me laugh. Cant wait to see more of these
My D7500 will be on my porch Monday. Can’t wait to play around with it. I know very little about photography, but thanks to your video, I have somewhere to start. 🤙🏻
It was a dream for me for about 10 years to own a professional camera to start my wildlife journey, yes I have bought a new D7500 in 2023 with 200-500mm, wish me good lucks in my venture. And yes I am a novice so I am here to learn. 😂😂😂
Picking up my D7500 later on today at Best Buy. I got the 2 lens kit with the 18-55 3.5-5.6 and 70-300 4.5-6.3. I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm really excited to get out there and start taking pictures with all the things I've learned from you!
Jared, you`ve made my life not easier but joyful! Appreciate this video. That`s really the first one i`ve watched when got D7500 friend! Extremely helpful!
Thank you very much for this very helpful and well taught tutorial. I was having a terrible experience with this camera, now I understand all the buttons, the displays and ways to adjust accordingly. I look forward to taking wildlife and bird photos
Dear Jared: Just bought a D7500 with two lenses (Costco special deal bundle). Your intro video here was very helpful, made me feel more comfortable using the camera. I look forward to seeing what your 11 Days to Better Photography brings! Thanks again!
Just got it today and this was a great help. Just FYI if you want to record both jpeg and raw or just raw or jpeg you will find that setting under image quality. Scroll down and it brings up the next screen. I thought my camera wasn’t working correctly and almost had a heart attack. Now I’m shooting both and eventually go straight RAW.
I've been wanting a full DSLR for quite a while as before this I was using just my phone or a Nikon Coolpix B500. It had great zoom, but I want to learn to how to actually USE a camera and not just point and click. I've been watching your stuff for a while now, as just a fan, and I finally decided on a D7500. I thought it's new enough to have a decent amount of features, but not so new that it's ungodly expensive, which is also why I didn't get a full on professional camera right at the start. I don't have the experience or the budget at this time to get something even more, so I figured the 7500 is a good start off point for me. I paid it off today from a local camera store, and the first thing I did after getting home is to load up this video to set it up. After this, I'm going to get your beginner course. So excited to up my camera game, and I want to thank both you and Peter McKinnon for being huge inspirations for me and making great content that anybody can watch, understand, and enjoy! Thanks, Jared!
thanks for posting this. I moved up from a D3000 to the D7500 and its a whole new world. Your intro to photography videos taught me the basics and now I have to figure out how to take advantage of everything this camera has to offer. Good stuff. I appreciate it.
Thanks for this awesome, very informative video! I just ordered the Nikon D7500, and I already feel familiar with it, even before receiving it. I can't wait to get started using it!
Thank you for the tutorial. I bought my first Nikon. It's best for real estate interior and exterior. I normally shoot Sony A7 III but find it';s not great for real Estate, especially using the 12mm-24mm. So I bought this D7500 today and using the Tokina 12-24. I understand why you love the Nikon. Thanks for going through the entire menu system
Thanks for posting this video. I always show your videos to customers who buy their first DSLR or mirrorless cameras in the superstore I work at in England Essex. Your videos help me make successful camera sales. Kudos
It seems like an excellent camera and if you don't really need the extra bits from the D500 and if the picture quality is the same then I'd get the D7500. The review was so informative and easily explained. Thank you
Thanks so much for this. I've never had a dslr before but I really wanted to start taking nice photos so I got the D7500 and I had no idea what I was doing..
This video helped me out some. My other issues with this Nikon D7500 that I have is, when I take a picture the subject looks different in the photo than it did through the viewfinder also looks different from photo display picture to when I download it through snapbridge to my phone and import it to my laptop. Most of the pictures I take are nature, landscapes, sunsets/sunrises, and stars.
I should add that I used to have a Nikon D5100. I feel that those pictures turned out better than what the D7500 does, maybe that's cause I'm used to 5100 cause I had it for 9 years.
I just got this camera and im so happy you had this video. Very detailed and understanding i had to take notes and videos to capture every detail the video is long but it was all worth it i will subscribe 📸💛
Thank You for this video. Just bought my D7500 today. This was so informative and a lot faster then searching the manual. There were a few things I was hunting for and you covered them. Looking forward to using and learning this new camera so I can shoot better Lacrosse games of my grandson.
Ready to get back into photography and potentially start my own business. So far this is the front runner. The kit lens that comes with it is my ideal general purpose. I do want the 50mm 1.4 as I like getting creative and need that 1.4 apature setting. The other 3 are the 18-300 , 55-200 and the 55-300 plus the 200-600mm ones. Also a good set of macro. I prefer not to have any post processing at all but only very minor fixes. I always ran a UV filter and CPL as i do alot of outdoor shooting.
2 quick questions that the book doesn't answer. 1) can you take a still photo while making a video. 2) Is there a way to connect to the MacBook Pro and download directly onto the laptop, instead of taking out the SD Card? Thank you, I have watched this video 3 times (first camera was sent back had issues) each time tho I learn more and more. Love this video Love your channel
Overall a useful video, especially for the beginner but you seem to be fuzzy on a few things. Some of the following points are beginner oriented, others aren't. Disclaimer: I'm a D7200 shooter but almost all these settings apply to both cameras. - 21:43 - File naming is useful if you are shooting with multiple camera bodies. Set each camera body to a different name A75, B75 etc. to avoid file name collisions if you're copying all the cards to one folder. - 25:12 - Disappointing that you didn't explain the tradeoffs between 12 and 14 bit files. 14 bit files have more dynamic range and are more RAW in the sense that more of the data is kept in the 14 bit NEF. -25:38 - Auto ISO is really useful in aperture and manual mode. Set your minimum to what you ideally want. Set your maximum to what you will tolerate and your minimum shutter speed depending on how much action. Now your A and M are essentially auto-ISO modes, where you've chosen aperture and shutter speed and it is the ISO that floats. Typically I'll set a minimum of the base ISO for the camera, and a max of 400 or 800 in good conditions (up to 3200 on DX if it's required to get the shot). - 26:03 White balance is usually fine in Auto but it's important to know that there are situations where the camera will get it wrong or will override your intention. As a simple example shooting a sunset in Auto White Balance and JPG is a mistake. The camera will try to make the scene look like midday. Best to set to daylight or cloudy, or better shoot RAW so if you forget to do this you can recover easily by changing white balance after the fact. This is one that will trip up amateurs. - 27:38 - A bit disappointed you didn't talk about what custom picture styles are - not in depth - just a 30 second intro. They can be useful if you need to get files out quickly but they can also be fiddly and tricky. They were more useful before fast batch editing software like Lightroom became available. Still can be fun to play with. - 27:53 - There are claims by people who have tested (at least older cameras) that Active D-Lighting does affect your RAW file - that it subtley adjusts the exposure. Some people believe it ruins contrast. Others like it. If you have it completely off you can't turn it on after the fact, so I like to have this on low or normal for maximum flexibility. - 28:10 - High ISO noise reduction only applies to JPG. If you're shooting RAW it doesn't much matter what you set here. (Long exposure noise reduction is a whole other kettle of fish and shoots a dark frame for each image and does a subtraction. It does affect the RAW files. You probably don't want this if you're shooting astrophotography - you want to take your own dark frame. Might be okay if you're taking single night images though. Anyway beginners don't usually mess with really long exposures). - 35:49 - You glossed over is saving the focus point per orientation. That is really useful to turn on right away. It means when you turn your camera around the focus point closes to the animal's head/eye you're trying to shoot is immediately chosen (or at least a nearby one is chosen) when you switch your camera between portrait and landscape. That means less missed shots. I don't blame you for not knowing this one. It's relatively new (at least on midrange cameras) and only available on the newest midrange bodies (D7200 and up). - 36:02 - The setting for focus on half press that you glossed over as if there was no reason to ever turn it off is very important for photographers that want to separate the focus from release ("back button AF"). Some wildlife and sports photographers swear by the technique of using a custom function button (usually AE-Lock) for AF. When they press that button the camera focuses. The shutter is only for taking the image. It's not a technique I use personally - I find it clunky - but I understand the theoretical advantage. It might be something a beginner wants to try because it's hard to break the habit of using the shutter button half press to focus. Might be too late if they're already coming from a superzoom or point and shoot.

Went from a Canon to this Nikon and needed big help! You really saved me in this video - thanks so much!

just one question, does full frame matters?
nayan vaishnav Depends on your taste and use.
I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Great information
@@nayanvaishnav8922 yes bro full frame is way better than crop sensor
Same, whenever ive got a new camera, ive learnt from Fro :) I met him years ago too, hes so kind!!
Much better than trying to read the book and setup the camera BRAVO !

Thanks a ton for this video. Just upgraded from D3300 to 7500 and was little confuse but your video made my sail smooth to a BIG thanks
Thank you so much for this video! As a complete beginner to all of this, I was absolutely lost and this is exactly what I was looking for.
Just picked this bad boy up as my first "real" camera and your videos are a great help thanks
Great tutorial, upgraded from d3100 to d7500
Dear Jared: Just bought a D7500 with two lenses (Costco special deal bundle). Your intro video here was very helpful, made me feel more comfortable using the camera. I look forward to seeing what your 11 Days to Better Photography brings! Thanks again!
Howard Nemerov just got mine @Costco as well 😂
Just got it today and this was a great help.
I can capture so confidently now. Love from India ❤️
Thank you for this video! Just upgraded from my D3400 to the D7500, and needed to see this so I know how to use the upgraded settings! Thanks again!
Video stupendo , nessuno come te l’ha spiegato così alla perfezione. Grazie mille fratello
This was the best camera tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you so much! Really increased my confidence with my new camera.
Thanks for this awesome, very informative video! I just ordered the Nikon D7500, and I already feel familiar with it, even before receiving it. I can't wait to get started using it!
This is the video I needed to watch as soon as I got my camera
Thank you for the tutorial. I bought my first Nikon. It's best for real estate interior and exterior. I normally shoot Sony A7 III but find it';s not great for real Estate, especially using the 12mm-24mm. So I bought this D7500 today and using the Tokina 12-24. I understand why you love the Nikon. Thanks for going through the entire menu system
I just bought one with a Nikon 18-300 lens. What a camera! This video was very helpful, I'm looking forward to more.
Alastair Ingram, I have that lens also, use it all the time. I have also just got the 200-500, waiting for a good day to go out and try it.
Just took delivery of a D7500, and the worst part is waiting for the battery to charge so I can get on with following you through the set-up. :)
Thank you this video was very helpful just setting up my D7500 switching from Canon to Nikon!
I truly appreciate the time that you took to make this video.
Thanks for posting this video.
I always show your videos to customers who buy their first DSLR or mirrorless cameras in the superstore I work at in England Essex.
Your videos help me make successful camera sales.
Kudos
Thanks great video
This is about as clear as clear can be when it comes to camera setup. Well done!
Thank you for this video. Just got my first cam in and feel comfortable turning it on
It seems like an excellent camera and if you don't really need the extra bits from the D500 and if the picture quality is the same then I'd get the D7500. The review was so informative and easily explained. Thank you
Man, really appreciate all the work you put in this video. I just got my D7500 and set it the way you explained.
Great run through on the 7500. I had a 7100 and sold that recently, my son left his 7500 for me to use so appreciate the video
Thanks so much for this. I've never had a dslr before but I really wanted to start taking nice photos so I got the D7500 and I had no idea what I was doing..
DSLRs can be daunting , especially for your first one but it'll reward you once you put the time in learning how to use it...goodluck and congrats!
Thank you, this was very helpful!
I just got a refurbished D7500. Thanks for posting this helpful guide.
I just got a D7500 and I've never owned an SLR. This was very helpful, thank you!
I got a D7500 last month and this user guide is very informative. Thanks for all your hard work 👍
Great job! I watch your user guides every time I buy a new camera body. Loving this as my new backup camera body!
We Just added 2 Nikon D7500 in our Gear List, and This Users Guide was really Helpful. Thank you so much Jared
Very useful..Really liked it...Jump start to use the camera just listening to this video
Great video for Nikon D7500. Highly recommend for all.
I've got a d7500 on the way. Fantastic primer video!! Thanks a bunch!!!
I just got this camera and im so happy you had this video. Very detailed and understanding i had to take notes and videos to capture every detail the video is long but it was all worth it i will subscribe 📸💛
Having recently bought a D7500 I have found this video very helpful. Thank you 👍.
Thank You for this video. Just bought my D7500 today. This was so informative and a lot faster then searching the manual. There were a few things I was hunting for and you covered them. Looking forward to using and learning this new camera so I can shoot better Lacrosse games of my grandson.
This video has saved me many a-headaches while starting my photography journey
This user guide worked for me! I use a D7200, and it is pretty similar to the D7500. Thanks Jared
Thank you for this video. I have no knowledge of cameras and this is my 1st one.
Just purchased the camera. Coming from a mirrorless camera, this is my first dslr. I'am still figuring things out. Thanks for the informative video!
Hi its the the best review of d7500... Very informative... There will be a smile always on my face whenever I watch your video.... Thank you
Dude I just bought this camera and this was very helpful. Thnx
Excellent review of all the buttons and options for the camera.
🙄
Thank you so much. You have helped me immensely with my new camera. I will continue to watch your videos! I can’t wait for your video on the D780
