  • DIY on how to replace the Xenon HID projectors of the Tesla Model S 2012-2016 - HID xenon headlights. We have developed a kit to replace the original Visteon HID projectors with better Aharon Optimus NT 3" bi-xenon projectors. The original projectors can/will burn and lose their reflective layer.
Stage 2 kit with new 3" bi-xenon HID projectors: retrofitlab.co...
With this kit you can upgrade/repair the headlights of the Model S. Installation is not easy because the headlights are sealed with permaseal.
When you have an EU Tesla Model S, we advise first replacing the 25 watt HID system with 35 watt ballasts and 35 watt HID xenon bulbs (low cost and easier to install). This can be done with our stage 1 kit: retrofitlab.co...

Thanks! Sometimes we mark the original cut-off line on a wall (with the headlight fixed on a certain place), so we can adjust the headlight after the retrofit by placing it back the same way as with the original projector and aligning it the same as before. And sometimes it is set correctly by a garage/workshop with a headlight tester.

    why not use biled projector

Good question. Primarily because it is already an HID xenon system. When it would be the halogen version of the headlight we would definitely have used a bi-LED projector (when the fitment would be good). But in this case, we did not use Bi-led.
      - We develop our kits for ease of installation for the customers. And this is a bit easier because you don't have to re-wire from the low-beam input of the ballast to the Bi-xenon projector. We develop our kits for the majority of people and a lot are not into rewiring (which could also potentially lead to errors in some cars due to can-bus systems etc).
      - For people that only want to change the projector it is cheaper.
      - Light output/pattern/high beam from a good projector and bulb is still very good in comparison with the bi-led projectors. It's definitely not that every led projector is better (a lot are worse).
      - Not everybody is into LED (almost no choice in color temp, when a LED fails, you can't change the bulb)
      - When there is somebody who would really want Bi-LED, we could help :-).

I looked at your website but didn’t see if you sell just the adapter brackets? Do you sell just the adapter brackets?

I don't understand, how come you are still using obsolete tech ? Xenon is dead

I would rather have xenon than reflector LED in my 2016 tesla s. Feels weird to drive around without a sharp lens cutoff. Reflectors shine mushy. Looks ok from the outside tho.
