I just got wyze garage and connected with my home assistant and my phone, now whenever I drive by or leave it will trigger my garage door. I think everyone has it's own way. But kudos to you to take all that effort to record it for the audience

I did it without touching the bumper cover. I mounted the module bracket with an existing bolt on the underside of the bumper crossbar. Also you do not need to remove the tow hook mounting plate. There is enough play in the frunk light wire to unplug it from the outside once you have the tub unbolted. Just be careful lifting up the tub far enough to reach in and unplug the wire. Retrofitting in the service mode worked fine, but required a few reboots before the homelink option appeared on screen. I had to program my door openers using the standard mode, which means you need a working remote for the opener to train the module. And yes, you can use a cheap remote to open your door, but then you can’t integrate the functionality with your location or any of the other vehicle software options. It’s an elegant solution for the convenience of remotely opening your doors or doing other homelink functions; turning on lights for example.

Knowing what I know now, I would do what you did.

Remove the 3 bolts for the windshield washer tank, swing it out of the way. No need to disconnect anything. You will have great access to the existing bolt on the bottom of the crossbar, which is a bracket. The bolt that you remove from the bracket on the bottom of the Bumper crossbar is to short for the bracket. I didn't have any spare bolts, so I swapped one from the washer tank.
The included bolt that came with mine from eBay has one of those silly security heads.

@@ATLP3D I successfully completed the install on 2024 Model 3 this weekend. I removed the frunk, moved the washer fluid reservoir out of the way.
In the center of the car, attached to the bottom of the silver crossbar is a bracket with an electrical connection. Remove the screw from the existing bracket on the passenger side of the bracket.
Put the homelink receiver in the homelink bracket, connect the cable to homelink and attach the homelink bracket with a new screw. Screw removed was too short, I purchased a M6-1.00x20 at Ace and it worked great.

@@tukeemonty Great to hear! For me range doesn’t seem to be effected either mounting it to the bottom.

Thanks for the video. I just did it on a 24 M3P. It took about an hour and a half. I did use the bracket. I turned it to the left, bolted it on the right, and put three spacers between it and the core support threaded mount. I added some lock-tight and tightened it down. I should not have a problem with it.

I just had Tesla come out and do mine for free. I created a service ticket saying I purchased the module from the Tesla site, pulled it from my previous M3, and installed on my 2024 MY Performance. I initially encountered an error. All good now.

Good job. Glad the same module worked for the highland version. Saved yourself $350 bucks. When Tesla came and installed mines, they removed the whole bumper lol
