The fade pullover is amazing! You have to be careful with the felting because it can happen really fast. For your anniversary maybe you can giveaway a PetiteKnit pattern❤❤❤

I’m primarily a continental knitter, but I purl Norwegian-style. And often I switch to throwing/flicking just to give my hands and arms a change of pace. I’ve had carpal tunnel syndrome in the past, so I think it’s good to change things up.

About looking at the camera...I don't find it too distracting when podcasters are looking to the side as I'm usually knitting while I watch. I don't think you should worry about it 😊.

I switch back and forth. If I can’t get it continental, I don’t sweat it and throw….usually M1R and M1L

Hi Karen! I’m a Continental knitter, and do everything with the yarn in my left hand. In colourwork I find I do different things, generally unconsciously! I sometimes hold both yarns all in left hand, sometimes drop & pick up, and sometimes do two handed. I reckon you’ll find doin the m1l & r easier with repetition, but if not, do what suits you! I think your daughter’s dot jumper is going to be fab- I’m a big proponent of Why have 1 colour when you can have loads!?! 😃 Look forward to seeing the colourplay, and the slipper felt!

Hahaha I wore a sweater over 6 months last year. With the sleeve ends tucked in! Like you I would go back and forth if they needed to be longer. Winter hit and December I added the inch I needed. 😂. Just this week I was finishing up my Lento sweater. I had 4 rows of rib and the bind off left. At 5:00 my husband came told me we are leaving at 6pm now. What! An extra 30 minutes! I quickly grabbed my sweater. Finished the sleeve and tucked those ends up. YUP it looks good for now who cares about blocking! Concerts are dark. 2 hours later we are enjoying the Eagles. (they were amazing). I look down to see my ring stitch marker still in my other sleeve. Lol. This is why I love your podcast. You think like I do 🤣 thank you for being so fun and stress free. 💗

Hi Karen: Another lovely podcast! I am a continental knitter! Yes, I hold all my stitches with my left hand. It takes practice. When I learned, I was mostly knitting and purling. I didn’t knit any patterns that calls for increasing m1r till much later. I was increasing with kfb according to the pattern. No worries, your continental knitting will eventually be tighter! With daily practice, it will be second nature and your tension will even out.
I taught myself how to knit continental in 2012 after seeing my ex-co-worker knit her sweater during lunch. Prior to that, I never seen a circular needle or knit continental. My ex-co-worker didn’t teach me. I bought the same brand of circular needles and watched RUclips to learn. Initially, my purl stitches felt awkward and not even. With practice, it even out. It was a game changer and I became an avid knitter ever since. Prior to this, I was using straight needles and a thrower! Your speed will pick up with daily practice.
My daughter got rescued beagle mix puppy during the start of the pandemic in July 2020. She chewed up two pairs of my bamboo circular needles and two phone chargers. I put l down my knitting on the sofa to go upstairs to the bathroom for one minute. I came right back, and she chewed it up! It happened one pair after another because I forgot to secure my knitting before going to the bathroom.
Your projects are very inspiring! Thanks for sharing! Congratulations for almost 3k subscribers! Keep up the awesome work! Happy knitting! ❤❤

I've switched from continental to English style because I can knit and watch tv, 😁 and I thought I'd warn you that because your tension is looser, when you block it, it probably will become much bigger! But you can knit your other slipper with your left hand if you want it at a larger gauge, if you did your other one with your right right then it should work out. Maybe?!?

Love your podcast! And love the fade sweater. I learned too, that vests have large armholes, so you have to make it smaller if you add sleeves💕.
In the Frivolous and Frugal podcast they gave a hint, that if you use a large button, you put each mohair yarn through a separate hole, it keeps the mohair from getting all tangled.
Also Penny and Dawn, who make that podcast, are spearheading a knitting weekend together for all comers at the Hilton Garden Inn on the Hoffman Eststes, west of Chicago. It is Friday and Sat. July 28 and 29. It doesn’t cost anything, but people are staying at the hotel if they are coming from out of town, etc. they said it is a no frills get together with just lots of people knitting and helping each other and showing off their knits. I thought of you, because you are so close. If you haven’t seen their podcast give them a try…..I love it.

You got me with "super long, go go gadget arms" 😆! The Bloom Vest is stunning, I just did a similarly shaped sweater and she had you pick up 2/3 stitches for the arms, so maybe adjusting the pickup rate would help decrease the starting width of your sleeves, though I love how they look as is.

I only knit continental but I think it’s because I learned to crochet first and you tension the yarn in your left hand for crochet. When I first learned to knit I tried English and just couldn’t get it but as soon as I switched to Continental it all just clicked. I’ve never tried color work though so not sure how that would go. I’ll have to try it sometime. Love your podcast!

I forgot. Just keep felting until the slippers fit. I throw a pair of jeans and a tennis ball in the washer and dryer to really bang up against the bag with the slippers. Helps it felt faster.

You asked, so here goes: to me, you seem to be looking to my left just a tad. Not always but enough to notice. Otherwise, delightful work. I enjoy spending time with you and your projects. If you like triple-cuff hats and want something a bit jazzier, try Joji Locatelli’s Boston Streets hat. I just finished my second one, and it’s both stylish and very, very warm here in the Colorado Rockies. I have made the Purl Soho hat too.

Congrats on your FO’s, beautiful sweater, cozy hat and a slipper! Everything looks better after blocking so don’t fret about your hat or sleeve length. It took me some time to get fully comfortable once I switched to continental style knitting so be patient and kind to yourself. I’m trying combination knitting to see if I get neater ribbing that way. Stay warm and thanks for a wonderful episode!

Hi! Love your podcast:) When I was training myself to change from english to continental knitting, I would do knit stitches with the yarn in my left and and still purled with it in my right. But now I've fully converted to always knitting continental style. whatever works for you is best!

I find myself changing between styles of knitting frequently. Mostly continental now because of carpal tunnel, but I change between continental and English style and sometimes I jump in to Portuguese style when I’m doing a lot of prestigious because it’s so much quicker. I try to tension my yarn, the same in both hands in order to get them or even stitch and remember to change my stitches at the needle points I. Thank you for your podcast and all that you do.

Hi Karen, your looking at the camera is a lot better. I think your solution works. I switched to continental knitting about a year and a half ago and am getting better at it but there are things I can't just knit continental, like the heel or toe of socks, because my gauge is too loose. I had issues with complicated stitches but am getting better. Also switching to Norwegian continental purling greatly help even out my tension between knits and purls (Arne and Carlos have a video on it). Great projects, love the spot sweater!

I'm a Continental knitter and always keep the yarn in my left hand. This is the reason I have trouble with color work since it feels "weird" to me to throw one color of yarn from my right hand and holding 2 colors in my left messes with my tension. Kudos to you for being able to do both.
