- I ran across an article on Facebook that tells people that Morgan Silver Dollars and even $1 pre-33 Gold Coins are worthless... I thought this was hilarious and definitely wanted to share it with you in a fun video!

The low end eBay and Amazon coins she was seeing/talking about, are most likely the fake/knock offs… not even real coins.
It's really hard to fake 140 year old Morgan's, I use a cell phone app to test all mine but if you got two of them you can ping test them by ear very easily. Anyone going to fake one usually tries a Carson City. I'm pretty sure a free cell phone app can weed them out. I bid on ebay for Morgan's twice a Month, G to XF you can get them for $30to$40 shpg&tax free, 5 day delivery.
@@TobaccoRowe1960 you completely missed the point, the writer of the article said you can buy them for 2-3 on eBay and Amazon. Those were fakes… she was quoting fakes (most likely)

But I still say it is next to impossible to make a fake Grade F Morgan Dollar. And it wouldn't even be cost effective. I've see Fake Carson City Morgan's but why would I buy one of them when I can have 4 of these. 4 times as much silver. And no worries if it's fake, I test every one, no fake Cull Morgan Dollars here yet.

For most of the Morgan dollars I collect, you would never be able to get below $100. Though I don't buy for silver, I buy for numismatic/collecting reasons, and I like having nice coins in my collection.

$11.36 was the "melt" price for Morgans for awhile. To say they are worthless is stupid or ignorant at best. There's also a gaslighting campaign against hard assets by some in the financial market who align with certain ideology. I would say most of us here know better.

Hi Seeker! I think that artical was hilarious. Almost as funny as HSN. This Author doesn't know what's she's talking about. Worthless Morgans? I think she is suggesting that if Morgans are below 100 dollars, then they are worthless. And I'm willing to bet that she is not a coin collector!

Funny you mentioned Pokémon cards.. I collected Yugioh cards a lot when I was a kid and collected more in 2015 after I graduated high school. Last week my friend from highschool bought all my yugioh cards from me for $300! It blew my mind because back in 2015 I only paid $12 or $15 for a few of the cards and I made a huge profit on those specific cards I was sad to see them go, but I happily invested some of that money into more silver for myself so it was a win win. Just goes to show that collecting things pays off, even cards.

After seeing the value go up for morgan dollars I noticed the value of foreign silver dollar sized coins were cheaper like 25 to 30 So I switched to stacking foreign silver crowns instead of US dollars.

@@snickle1980 my bad, should have caught that. I'm with you on the silver, RCM is the best, Pandas are good and the best are the walking liberties. Foreign coins I love too, as often they hold more of the precious metal making up, say like an ounce. Never mind that they are beautiful to look at!!!

On Bullionshark they advertised 2021 D Morgan silver dollar NGC MS70 FDOI for $419 marked down from $500. On Ebay you won't get one below about US$1700-$1900.

I have a small collection of Morgan’s including an 1893s in very fine condition which I’m sure will never loose it’s value. My only issue is I haven’t graded them or it from PCGS or NGC. Would you send them in by mail? And if so certified mail ?
Send insured and certified if they are worth a lot. And DO NOT USE USPS. The postal service will not cover coins so even if you insure them and they are lost you won't get paid if they know it's coins.

Backing the FLEET of trucks up to get all the Morgan's I can get for $11 each..... Fill 'er up and I got room for some behind the seats too.
Yesterday I was luck enough to get 1 Morgan and 1 peace dollar for 15 each even tho thay had a hole in them. Resold today for 20 each. Remember visit your local LCS often and become friends.

I'm outside of the US and rarely see Morgan Dollars... This is fine by me as I don't see these coins as being particularly beautiful or well struck. I'll take Perth Mint coins that come encapsulated or KOMSCO coins over Morgan Dollars all day long.... I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When you say that the lady might be correct on all the other items, and just got these two wrong, I realize you are just trying to be nice and give her the benefit of the doubt, since you are admittedly not an expert in all those other items. However, this is a perfect example of a phenomenon known as the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect. This was described by Michael Crichton, as follows: "You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well... You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward-reversing cause and effect. I call these the 'wet streets cause rain' stories. Paper’s full of them.

I love Morgan’s or American silver dollars, honestly I love anything above 925! I’ll melt anything I get my hands on and pour a 1 kilo gram bars and sell for spot plus, usually about $85 plus more due to the channels stamp! I’m addicted to getting silver to make bars! Feed me Seymour!
Morgan and Peace Dollars (excluding the 'repop' 2021 issue) were all .900 fine silver, not "above 925".
Unless you're refining the metal to .999 or casting the bars overweight to compensate for alloy, you're cheating people if they're paying 'spot' for melted 90% silver U.S. coinage.

The price of.silver dollars is insane. Whoever made this article clearly miffed the research on the melt value.
They also messed up how much they go for and cannot do a basic " sold " price checks.
All assets (hard or digital) including Morgan Silver Dollars are worth whatever anyone will pay you. Right now if you can score AU/BU Morgan’s for $31-$32 your doing great!

I have A LOT of silver dollars, and (even though I like it) the most common years, in fair condition cost way more than their .7735 silver content, and they are NOT a good way to invest in
silver, when you can get a .999 silver round for LESS than a silver dollar....
