    I got them a month ago on Amazon for 80 euro, black Friday deal, love the timing on the video. They are so comfortable, you forget you have them on after a while.

      @@azo0ownz I have the Superlux HD681, the Phillips SHP9500 and the comfort of the HD599SE is unmatched, at least for my head, I can wear them all day. But if they are not on sale I wouldn't pay 200E for them (their current price)

      I got mine for €82 when they came out, in fact I just recently replaced the earpads. With one of those cheap 7-band EQ amps to compensate for their minor quirks they really shine. I like to lower down the upper bass a bit and increase the high end to make them brighter.

    These are my favorite all around headphones and I was able to purchase them in the Ivory color. I would like to see them in a Closed-Back with the same design and also the same headphone Backplate but completed and with the same look and so that would add a little bit of weight and yet I would think the headphones would maintain about the same characteristics if the same Backplate that was filled outward such that they have the exact same look. I would like that because it makes them quieter in a microphone environment. Regardless of that, and in comparison to some other headphones, I noticed the bass response being very tight and also a little bit quieter than many other headphones. That is also why I really like these headphones. I also noticed that the midrange and the upper midrange were very bright and crisp and also a bit louder than some other headphones and with the highs being inline with the bass and so that was very appealing. I am able to use these headphones with a headphone amplifier and yet I would like to see them in a Closed-Back design with similar characteristics. I didn't compare these to as many headphones as some others and yet I like some of the low cost headphones for active listening from many devices and also some very specific headphones also but in comparison to these headphones I also liked the Pioneer HDJ-X5 and I thought the Bass was brought out more in those headphones with similar characteristics in sound levels from what I could tell just listening to the headphones. I overall prefer the Sennheiser HD599 SE Headphones but I thought that the Pioneer HDJ-X5 were also great headphones. I think the Pioneer's might be more accurate and yet I like the Sennheiser HD599 SE Headphones because of their characteristics and also with how I use them. I also found that the Sennheiser HD599 SE Headphones were more comfortable for my ears. Anyways, I listened to those headphones with what was available at some of the stores and those are higher cost headphones that I chose and for those characteristics reasons that I thought I could hear. Yet, some devices have much lowered powered amplifiers in them for the headphones and so I have some lower cost JVC and also Sony headphones that cost less than $20 that are also my favorite headphones with the low powered amplifiers. What I mean that is active listening from some different devices such as computers and also some mp3 players. The model number of the JVC Headphones is JVC HAS160R Flat Headphones and also the JVC Gumy HAFX7V and I also really like the Sony ZX Series Wired On-Ear Headphones, White MDR-ZX110. Those Sony Headphones and the JVC Flat Headphones are my favorite headphones for all around value in terms of cost and also comfort and I really like the sound quality. I am curious how other headphones compare to those headphones as a headphone classification of base characteristics from chosen headphones as a value classification. What are your favorite headphones and how do other headphones compare in both cost and chosen quality characteristics. I like the songs "Mike Reid - Walk On Faith" and "Push It To The Limit - Paul Engemann", nice review, btw. Thank You!!.

    Love the content. Do you mainly do over-ear/studio headphone reviews? Would be very interested in videos on the Sennheiser HD-25's and HD-26 Pro's.

      Glad you're enjoying my videos! I also review on-ear headphones and IEMs, although most of my content leans towards over-ear models. I will add the 25 and 26 to my list and try to get them in for review. Cheers!

    enjoy your detail analysis and review of all these monitor headphones , it would be interesting to see your review upon less popular and lesser known models from the various other audio brands other than the typical Senn, Beyer or so , say Koss PRO4s , Yamaha HPH-MT5/8 , or esoteric one like the Roland(s)

    hi Todd. Due to your advise, I purchased and I am using the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X the last 2 years. They are permanently on the Focusrite Scarlett Solo.
    I use it both for online classes. Cause I have also a mic on. But I use it almost everyday for playing bass. Well, not everyday, but whenever I steal free time from work. 😄
    Do you have in mind any upgrade, any other pair of headphones, that could level up my setup ? Or maybe do you find it necessary to upgrade the Scarlett Solo, in order for better headphones to be supported ?
    PS I live in a very quiet neighborhood, and I like using open back headphones

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  6 месяцев назад +2

      The 900 Pro X are very well suited to your use case and imo one of the best open-back options for bass guitar. I would say the headphone amp in the Solo is (considerably) holding back the performance you can get out of the 900s. Even though the Solo can drive the 900s to a reasonable listening level, it lack the current / dynamic range that will really level up what the headphones can deliver.
      Upgrade options would either be a dedicated headphone amplifier (DAC) or to upgrade the Solo to an interface with a superior headphone amp built-in. If you like the simplicity of the Solo setup and don't foresee needing more IO, I highly recommend the Audient ID4 MKii as it has an excellent headphone amplifier that will handle a wide range of headphones (impedance and sensitivity ranges). It also has an excellent mic preamp, j-fet instrument input, and great converters. If you think you may want something with more expandability, let me know and I will share a few other recommendations. Cheers!

      @@askdrtk I will not need more plugs than what I already use. 1 mic, the bass plug and the headphones.
      But you are right, I am not so satisfied from the performance of the Solo.
      Is Audient ID4 MKii a replacement for the Solo or it is supposed to be plugged in line (one after another) ?

    • @Kats072307
      @Kats072307 6 месяцев назад

      @k looks like it's a better audio interface than the Focusrite Solo with the same port options. ruclips.net/video/w3IJJrK3RD8/видео.html This is the best option for me, cause I like to have a minimal desk setup
      PS It is ordered and it will soon be tested 👍

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  6 месяцев назад

      Great to hear! The ID4 should be a seamless replacement for your Solo with a significant performance upgrade. BTW, Audient uses the same preamps in the ID4 that are used in their large format consoles. Looking forward to your update once you get it setup!

    The lack of a bass fundament always held me back from buying open back headphones.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, options are limited for open-back with good bass / sub-bass response, clarity, and detail...particularly in this price range.

    • @ZdraveBass
      @ZdraveBass 5 месяцев назад

      I've heard that around the 150$ range, good options for open back and good bass are the Fidelio X2HR or the Hifiman HE400SE with the custom grill upgrade "Super Grills" from Custom Cans

    I am torned between this and m40x. Both are under 100$. My main usage will be playing guitar through an amp and listening to music. What would you think the best choice? TIA. ❤❤

    • @residentzero
      @residentzero 3 месяца назад

      The main difference is hd599 is open back so sound leaks but the soundstage is amazing. These are also one of the most comfortable headphones ever. The m40x are closed back so more private, but sound is more intimate, in your face. And are very tight clamp, extremely uncomfortable
