    In hindsight I know I was too impatient with when I wanted this video to come out as I was giving myself a hard time for not uploading. I do like the end product and that what matters, but I will take what I learned from this experience and get better from this point. I hope you stick around for more. Any criticisms are welcome as my main goal is to just get better.

    Most underrated game in decade in my opinion, the action combat system is deep like an ocean.
    And the character custom system itself worth 60$ already.
    BTW, the Yokai counter is considered as a Yokai skill, it cost 1 point purple bar(I play the Chinese verson so I don't know what's the English name) , if it's below 1, like 0.9, you can't use it.
    You can show all the numbers in the game in order to calculate, the selection are all in the option menu.
    There's a skill let you regain all the white part of your prepare-to-recover stamina and some more when changing the position, use this skill wisely, your stamina will be almost unlimited, also, your action would combo with less recover frame, very smart system design.

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  8 месяцев назад

      The skill you are talking about with the changing your weapon stance is called flux in the english version. This is an important aspect of the game i did not cover but plan on in the future. Thank you for leaving such a thoughtful comment friend.

    I booted it up. I picked my weapons and demon and went to first area.
    I got repeatedly destroyed by that Gozuki in the Village of Cursed Blossoms, and promtly deleted it. 😂
    I came back to it a few weeks ago after noticing it on my download list, and have been hooked ever since.
    This game requires skill and patience. But is so rewarding when you finally nail an at first problematic level or boss.

    It's amazing how much way you can approach the combat in Nioh 2,from a fucking monster that can tank heavy hit, pure meta with highest DMG potential, a onmyo who shoot all kind of element, a pokemon master who use guardian spirit and yokai, hell even build that let you stay in your yokai form for most if your mission and so on

    @jamielee5695 Месяц назад +2

    I only started playing recently but omg this is one of the best, if not the best action game ever made, its fucking amazing. I love so many of the wrapons, I've got 4 different setups with 8 weapons and have GS setup for either corruption or purity, as well as stats and weapons remoddeled just so i can play them all, theyre all so good. Just one weapon is designed better than most weapons in other games and theres 11 of them all with the same amount of depth. Then add souls cores, yokai shift, finding weapons pairings that work together, etc. the level of depth and fine tuning they mustve done to get jt all to work is astonishing. Its the best combat system ive played since first getting into monster hunter, or at least the weapon design in both has set the standard for action games imo.

      I played monster hunter world and it just never grabbed me. Maybe I should give the franchise a shot though I love the concept. Just hated how weird the coop system was in world seemed to water down the flow of the game when I was trying to play it with a friend.

      @Trugrim Yeah most people don't like it on first try, it took me 3 tries for it to click. I recommend trying all the weapons until you find one that works for you - also watxh some tutorials on how to use the weapons on RUclips cause the game does a terrible job at explaining the complexity of them tbh - and you can play solo if you'd prefer, I tend to fight each monster solo rhe first time round and subsequently to improve my skill, but often join other people's Hunts when I'm farming for monster parts

      @@jamielee5695 thank you. I will keep this in mind. I got somewhat far but I was constantly switching weapons and constantly needing to farm for said weapon class. It got really frustrating for me. I was also a way different gamer when I did get it though so I’ll download it when I get out of college. It was fun when it did get hype I just felt I didn’t get how the actual loop of the game was supposed to feel. I also heard often that you needed to be in a group to deal with monsters from somewhere and I never questioned that. I believe I left off using the hammer but I started with the daggers

    • @jamielee5695
      @jamielee5695 Месяц назад

      @Trugrim I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, especially with Wilds out in February. The hammer is very fun, if youre able to position yourself to hit the head regularly with that thing you'll get a lot of KOs. And nah the game scales to however many people are in the hunt, so you can play it whichever way you prefer. I personally believe solo is the best to way to learn a monsters moveset, when to counter, where to position yourself etc. I actually find it harder with 3 other players sometimes cause I find the monster less predictable, but it's a lot of fun with friends and there can be some funny situations. How do you prefer to play action games, generally? I might be able to recommend you a weapon based on playstyle

    Nioh 2 fun game. I recently started a new playthrough after a 2-year hiatus and I'm having a blast experimenting with new weapons and jutsus. I stopped right when I reached DotN because I rushed through a lot of the ng+ cycles and had 0 foundation for the underworld, and I used a pretty tanky build which made me somewhat accustomed to taking damage, so this time I've decided to take my time and use an A-Agility glass canon build. I like the magic, universal weapon build. I would put 200 into magic the 150 into at least 3 or
    4 other stats like heart, constitution, skill and strength for the scroll of damned bonuses. Also
    added lots of Sentience to my tanky magatsuhi and omoike build. Also I have other magatsuhi
    builds like with Susanoo. This game has more features than GTA 5 by far. Kasha, The tornados
    this game is wild. Only bad thing I would say is you spend a lot more than normal time forging
    at the blacksmith. You can beat this on the hardest pretty easy once your build is very tanky.

There is so much thrown at you, both information and mechanics, i have spent three hours beating the first level. And i haven't or hadnt yet unlocked half of the things spoken about in this video.
    And it is so much god damn fun! The ki system is beautiful, the stance system already seems massive and then you realize the game wants you to swap stances in combos as an intermediate level, and the levels are twisty and dense while still being grindable.

    So, the one real bit of critique I have here: Next time you try to do an instructional video, maybe remember to turn off your reshade. The one you are using in particular has some blurring vignetting that makes the game look garbo, and the color changes it makes are a matter of taste to say the least.
    When you are showing off a game to potential new purchasers or new players in general, it's best to keep it looking similar to what the base game does, instead of having advanced filtering going on. Especially when that advanced filtering is doing something like cutting the contrast to such an absurd degree or adding in sepia tones. If that's not a reshade and is actually something you purposefully did during editing, then, well, that's even worse.

    Yh i started the game but in my opinion the game has a huge gameplay issue.
    For most people playing it solo is just redicously difficult, if you don't minmax your build and put a lot time into grinding.
    So an average player would require to always grind so much, to stay a couple of levels above the missions, just because it is so frustrating difficult for them.
    And then you may start playing online, which works well for the first few maps.
    But this will result in a piece of cake gameplay where overpowerd players destroy everthing.
    I wondered why so many high level players play in low level maps. But then i realized why. When i progressed a bit, I wanted to play a little bit more on my own.
    My lvl is about 60 now, i am in idk the fourth map or so, the average level of the missions is 75. I wasn't even able to play the map before to the full extend, because it was too difficult,
    even with guides and builds I copied from youtubers.
    For whatever reason I also didn't get any online help anymore. If I start a multiplayer lobby, nobody joins. If I search for comrades from inside a mission, it takes 10 to 30 minutes until someone joins. At the weekend in the prime time...
    You will barely matched together with people on the same level. Playing coop this way really sucks. I could imagine, playing coop with a friend without someone beeing OP would be perfect.
    Lets say play casualy with 1 or 2 friends on the same level or maybe a little bit higher level than your own could make really fun.
    But the difference in coop and solo playing is way to insane. I think this game is neither made well for solo nor for coop with random internet people.
    That's super annoying. I think a game like elden ring is much better. Because in Elden Ring it comes to skill and maybe level. But it is more forgiving in regards of builds and equipment.
    Of course leveling up your gear helps alot, but it is more made on a casual level. Like you can really increase your skill to a working level, without the feeling,
    that some missions are impossible to do on your own.
    This really sucks in Nioh2. There are a couple of missions, where it is completely impossible to beat certain bosses on my level alone. Even with good builds I used from the web.
    Maybe they are too old, maybe they got nerfed. But i think the problem is deeper.
    But everything else is great in this game. They just screwed the whole difficulty design , but the game is good.
    What I also highly dislike, what i see from higher level guide videos, it really all depends on gear and build. So if you will get a gear with idk, high life leech or so, or generating unlimited anima ressource or having unlitimed whatever, the core game mechanics change so much, that everything you learned so far will become irrelevant.
    So even if you are the hardcore type of player, really increasing your skill and become a real fighting master (which is possible I think), you can just throw all your skill away, once you get to a point where your gear and skills take over the job. Yeah and I really don't like this.
    I think it would be better, if the game will be a little bit more forgiving on the one hand, but still allow you to increase your skill and become really good, like in a fighting game like mortal kombat.
    IT is a joy to get used to your weapon style and create really nice combos. Also the ki impulse idea is great in general. Once you get used to it, it makes fun.
    I think this game would be much better, without the OP gear and with a lesser difficulty.

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  9 месяцев назад +1

      I am actually planning on doing a video on what build I used to get through my first play through of the game. I think you are worried about builds a little too much and need to focus on how to go about encounters. that helped me understand the game better, but to put it in words to help you also come to the understanding that i came to. Stamina and strength are KING. I used axe and odachi at first but swapped to dual swords as you can unlock an ability that will give you more armor the more you hit an enemy. I also was in teh ball park that this game is bs for a while, but as you keep playing the game and unlock abilities that make the game a bit easier (kasha soul core im looking at you) it becomes a breeze and a power fantasy of cuttung everything down. you wanna have enough dexterity and points in ninjutsu to unlock quick change, which acts as a sort of second chance or a substitution jutsu from naruto if you are familiar with that concept. So the stamina increasing your ability to equiped really heavy armor and your ability to doge death with quick change give you an opportunity to learn from your mistakes right then and there rather then having to die and go back to the point you were at in the game. Your crtiques of the game are appreciated because i am obviously biased as i have accepted these issues as part of a master piece rather than looking at it from the perspective of someone who still faces them as challenges. Lets me know what to talk about if/when I decide to talk about nioh again.
      As far as your elden ring comparison is concerned, while I LOVED the game to the point of beating every boss available to me, Mid game lacked heavily. i SPENT SO MUCH TIME going for the age of stars ending only for that whole side quest line to boost me to unbelievable heights where the game felt too easy. Then all of a sudden they hit you with the black blade malakeith and he seems like such a huge leap from everything before him. What is interesting about that though is every run of that game from so many people ends up being different. For example in Bloodborne there are so many people who have a hard time with orphan of kos. I beat him first try but had a hard time with ludwig, who stomped me for a week.
      The game does have a tendency to feel clunky, but I hope you are able to stick with it and overcome the idea that you need help to beat the game. You can do it. i know the OP build videos may make it seem like that is the only way to play the game, but from my perspective it is just not true. On my ps4 profile I was able to get very far with my ability to doge moves with the split staff and use range with my axes. (i got to the underworld so ng + 4 i think) I also believe that combo is good for starting the game, but i will do testing before I make a guide on it.
      I love the sword and dual sword combo so much now that i find it boring to go back to any other weapon, but I know I just have to keep figuring out what other weapons excel at as they seem the balanced ones of the pack.
      Thank you for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful comment I appreciate your perspective A LOT

      @TruTrae 8 месяцев назад

      I didn't really grind, I just did the sub missions and got close to or over the recommended level pretty easily. The game is a lot easier for beginners when you focus on strength/stamina like TruGrim said but you can get away with putting your stats into almost anything. Those high level build guides only exist when you have almost completed the game or when you are playing a ng+ run and that's why they can do so much ridiculous stuff. Also the content is still difficult if you aren't skilled so that will not carry someone even if they have a broken build, many bosses or yokai will not care about how tanky your build is and will still kill you easily if you cannot dodge or block correctly. The game is balanced well but the game is not that well made for beginners despite being much easier to get into compared to Nioh 1 so I get where you're coming from.

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@TruTrae Hard agree. stamina strength is only really a tool I used to get used to the game, but after a bit of time the skill carried over to other builds, and I became a huge fan of sword and dual swords builds.
      To expand more on the stats thing metioned in the comments above, with as little skill points as level 75 gives you (low for this game) those stats are going to bump your weapon damage by a tiny amount which is why it is easier for new game players to just dump their stats in stamina and maybe constitution if you want to cushion your health more!
      It's also worth it to throw in that the recommended level is kind of busted and doesn't work as intended. I am always under leveled according to the game. doesn't matter if i am in new game + 4 or just a brand new game. Try not to let the level recommendations discourage you.

      @@TruTrae I think the build easilly compensates your skill issue. I don't do regular melee anymore. I only use Ninja Skills and Bow. I put everything in dexterity, just enough points to use the kato set and it is okay. Not perfect, but okay. I can do most of the quests above my level now. I am 80 or so, and do lvl 120 story quests.
      But betweeen lvl 80 and 120 is not that huge difference. My gear is also lvl 120 and i think rushing the story makes sense, because your item level will become much higher this way. And the item level makes a huge difference. Also you get other stuff from the story which makes you stronger. So i think rushing through normal mode to start ng+ is absolutely worth it. I think it is stupid that it makes sense to rush the game to play ng+ as soon as possible, before you even try to level and play "as intended". It is just bad game design.

    Nioh is borderline perfect. After it's combat, nothing else is good enough. Especially souls games. They have spectacle, but crappy gameplay. However, I am actually quite concerned with Rise of Ronin. It looks like a blend of too many things in the wrong direction. The styles seem to be more of the ghost of tsushima variety which is bad. It forces you to be more passive than active. Styles around what enemy you're fighting rather than what you need/want.

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  8 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think simple means crappy. It is simple but different. I too prefer the way nioh takes on combat, but there's a reason those games do better and it's because it is far easier to understand your mistakes when you died. I also think rise of the ronin is going for a more casual approach of ghost of sushi while also giving you the sauce of Nioh 2. blending these two ideas means it is more for casuals, but lets hope the combat is just as deep in it's own way. it is also easier to just level up enough if you're not good enough at souls games which is actually a method I used when I first played dark souls 3 when it released as I was pretty new to the combat at first. now the game is pretty easy to me, but i didn't always feel that way. Point of me saying this is skill and those things are relative to the player so it is pretty tricky to go so insane in combat to the point that is not overwhelming to someone who might just want the spectacle. Now i get bored with the souls games rather easy so I get where you are coming from, but I think brushing them off as lesser than nioh is a disservice to the games. They are legendary for a reason.

      @@Trugrim Oh yeah, crap, I forgot I'm on PC now. I'm gonna have to wait a long time to play RoR anyway.
      Legendary in this space I feel has more subjectivity than we traditionally give in other disciplines of life. I think the souls games are a product of fantastic marketing more than anything else. The reputation among fans is practically self-sustaining. But that's a much too big discussion for youtube comments.
      I only brush them off as lesser when it comes to combat. Souls spectacle is A+ undoubtedly, but I wish the rabid fanbase had more standards and awareness to not care about only that.
      I don't know, this is just an unedited two bits response from me.

    ermmmmmm medium stance is not alwayy good at horizontal sweeps. only spear and kurasaragama are good with that ://

    • @jtnachos16
      @jtnachos16 9 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, it absolutely is always good at horizontal sweeps. It is the only stance in the game to HAVE horizontal sweeps as part of the base combo on every weapon. Some low stance options have some horizontal movement, but it is always shorter range and typically also a narrower arc on the hitbox. Even fists have a wider horizontal arc in mid stance than they do in low or high.
      Some low stance heavies manage to just about meet the mid-stance lights for arc and range, but that's an apples to oranges comparison in the first place.
      Stance-wise, these are the intended roles, that the base moves of all weapons are built around, and most the stance-specific actives follow this trend as well:
      High = damage
      Mid = crowd control
      Low = evasive

      @@fathiizzan I disagree. I feel like dream of the demon is up is there for you if you enjoy creating builds or saucing on enemies.
      Enemies with not so big health bars end up dying too quick for you to do anything cool.
      If you get your build right it doesn’t really matter how big their health bar is if you’re using all aspects of the game like confusion, guardian spirt talisman and the like
      It’s not a perfect mode and I wish endgame content was cooler than what it was though. Maybe you just got tired of fighting the same stuff which is fair. I honestly have never ran through multiple playthroughs of the game more than a handful of times as this game is kind of a game I have on rotation but I’m never actually playing it consistently because playing the same missions again or doing the same underworld missions is really tedious to me, but when I’m craving good combat I turn it on.
      Maybe a raid boss mode with friends or something would be cool, as I feel like the coop mechanic kind of breaks the game and makes it far too easy
