Wow, what a rad history! It’s crazy how many foods we’ve tried in our travel that come from monks. Alyssa said it tasted like the church wafer from communion but we didn’t leave it in the final edit! Thanks for watching, we had a blast at the 3 markets we visited in Germany. Headed to Prague next!
Thank you from Toronto. I am from Nuernberg and miss my city and the people. 💖💖🎄⭐ Enjoy the Bratwurst Haeusle...it is unique...been there many times when I was young. 👍😘 Frohe Weihnachten. I miss my Christkindles Markt❣
We're so glad you enjoyed the video, and hope you get back to Nuernberg soon! We made a full video at that restaurant but don’t have anywhere to place it so we will most likely release it for our Members page. Thanks for coming with us on our Christmas Market tour in 2024!
What a fun video! I went to this Christmas market when I lived in Germany way back in 1977. It looks like it's way bigger now that it was back then. Your video makes me want to go again!
Thanks so much for the kind words! We had originally planned to just do food tours in the cities but thought it would be fun to make Christmas videos! It truly has been the most memorable trip so far! We will see you in a few days with another $50 in Munich!❤️🎄🇩🇪
Nice video, I just found you guys and you seem nice. Also your video was pretty entertaining. I'm from Nuremberg and I always love to see, how people react to the Christkindlmarkt or the City in general. If you're stil in Germany, you should totally check out the christmas market in "Rothenburg ob der Rauber", it's an very old medieval market and in my opinion just a christmas wonderland, and if you're no longer here, you should put it on a list to do one day, it's absolutely worth it. Greetings from Nuremberg. 😊
Thanks so much for leaving us this awesome, it means the world to us! Unfortunately, we have already left Germany, but we’ve added this to our list for future Christmas market travels. We were able to find a medieval style market. That was really cool in Furth. We actually really love medieval markets. It was like the perfect combination of that with Christmas. Thank you for the recommendation merry Christmas!❤️🇩🇪🎄
Such a fun and delicious tour! The Nuremberg Christmas Market looks incredible, and it’s amazing to see how far $50 goes. The food looks so tasty-thanks for sharing this festive adventure! Best wishes, Chiara & Donato Fuoridalsentiero.

We're having so much fun, it's a tough job but somebody has to do it 😂! Thanks for joining us, we have another one from Munich coming out in a few days. Going to do our best to get all the markets up by Christmas.
Thanks for the tips on the video! I'll be there next Christmas season. Last year I was at the Berlin, Frankfurt, and Heidelberg markets. I haven't had schashlik for years and I'll be certain to get it there!
@HeresGoodTravel Berlin had so many markets. We only made it to two of them - At the Alex and at the Kaiser Wilhelm church. Both were super. The Frankfurt market was huge. We didn't see all of it. I lived in the Heidelberg area for about 8 years in the '70s and '80s so of course I had to go back there. That one is not anywhere as large as the others but it has all the food and knickknacks and is an easier walk. It's hard to say which was best.
My wife and I were there last weekend. We’re Bulgarians and try to travel to a Christmas market every year. It’s great seeing the exact places we were in your video 😅 I can confirm, this was one of the best markets we’ve ever visited. The entire city is a big market with delicious food, glueing and great beer 😅 10/10 would recommend
Amazing that sounds so fun! We are dying to make it to Bulgaria, we haven’t been yet. Definitely add Gdansk Poland to your Christmas Market adventure, it’s one of our personal favs!
Hi guys, OMG! Everything looks so delicious! Ship the cookies ASAP please! I’m so glad you two are having a wonderful time.. you both look so happy, and I love.. Alyssa’s beautiful smile, although she’s freezing! Please be safe, and continue on.. XOXOXO
Thanks so much! The weather has been ok with all our gear but we just landed in Riga and it was FREEZING last night. Somehow we are going to miss the snow!
These “Fleischküchle”, also known as Frikadellen, have been around in Germany since the 17th century. German emigrants brought them to the USA, from which hamburgers originated. yummie "Shashlik" means skewered, and came to us from the Turkic peoples.
Oh cool! Thanks for this awesome history of these foods! Those were two of our favorite bites at the Nuremberg Christmas market! We will dream about them when we head back to the US

Wow! That was an amazing video! You guys ate all of my favorite foods at one of my favorite Christmas Markets! My mouth was watering watching Brandon eating the Nurnberger sausages. Hope you guys are having as much at the markets as we are watching you. Merry Christmas! Looking forward to the Munich video!!
Thank you so much! We are so glad you enjoyed! We had the best time filming this one. We were going over our favorite foods so far and mine was the hand bread in Berlin and Alyssa’s was the Schashlick skewer at the end of this one, it was so unexpected.
Glad you liked them! We had so much fun filming these! We just finished filming Prague, Riga and Talan and it was so interesting to see how the different countries did their markets compared to Germany. Thank you so much for your support and for leaving us the awesome, merry Christmas!
This was a good reminder. I love Schaschlik and I haven't had one for a long time. Now I am on a hunting mission. 😁😎 If I am not mistaken, Schaschlik is a Hungarian classic.
It kind of had a little goulash style to it! We are in Riga now and have already filmed Munich and Prague, Alyssa was saying that was her favorite thing she’s eaten in the trio so far! I think my favorite was the Hand Bread in Berlin. We will have to mention our favorites at the final Christmas market!
One of the 10 most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany is undoubtedly in Sankt Wendel in Saarland with stalls you've never seen before: medieval market, elf market, and normal Christmas market. Some say it's the most beautiful of all.
Thanks for the recommendation. Since this was our first time in Germany we stuck to larger cities we’ve always wanted to visit. Munich is next. We did stay in Fürth and visited their medieval market and it was so cool! We will add this market to our list, next time we visit we promise to get to some smaller less commercialized markets. Merry Christmas!
@ the market is only open for 14 days. It will close next week because half of the midtown is covered 😊 when you‘ll visit it, try to avoid the weekends. There come many busses from Germany, France, Luxemburg with tourists.
I Always keep my mug , i was in germany for 7 years ( with the army ) i have a huge collection of beer fest mugs and christmas market mugs!! You do realize that every German town has a Christmas market , we found it was better to go to small towns instead of the big cities!!-
That is awesome! We're hoping to check out some smaller towns next time! We got a ton of good recommendations. Would love to see that mug collection, so cool!
Yes, we actually stayed at a hotel in Firth and had an amazing time visiting that market unfortunately, we didn’t have long enough to film both otherwise we would have. The medieval market there was our favorite part by far and we wish we could’ve shared it but we were just running out of steam after the huge Nürnberg market. Thanks a million for watching❤️🇩🇪🎄
Totally! That was Alyssa’s favorite food from our 3 German Christmas markets we visited. I liked the hand bread in Berlin. Though to find currywurst in the us too!
We freaking loved it there! The Christmas market was the busiest but you could still get around. Such a cool old city we fell in love. Didn’t film it but we also went to the medieval market in Furth! So cool!
We bet! We have been getting a lot of hate that people say the European Christmas Markets are too expensive. We are tempted to make a stop over just to show how crazy it is in the states. We have one in San Diego, our hometown, that is such a money grab. We might share when we get back from Tallin.
@@HeresGoodTravel Regarding the prices shown in Chicago, I wondered whether the sales tax was already included or whether it would be added on top. Then the quantities of roasted almonds, for example, were only indicated in small, medium and large without giving the exact weight. Incidentally, the large portion cost over 20 dollars.😳 PS: Tallinn used to have the German name Reval until about a hundred years ago. There is still a brand of cigarettes with this name.
You missed the market of partner towns, glühwein with ouzo from greece, onion soup from nizza- the best lebkuchen are from woitinek, a real bakery, schmidt is factory - please ask for advice
Thanks so much for clarifying, that’s why it was so unexpected because it was a different thing entirely!😂 Thank you for the help and Merry Christmas!❤️🎄🇩🇪
My dear Weihnachtsmarkt-Couple, Weihnachtsmaerkte in Deutschland are definitly not cheap, they are very expensive. So I can't afford it anymore and must watch youtube.😢 🎉 Anyway .... hohoho and Merry Christmas! 🎉
Thanks so much! Our kinda mission with this Christmas market tour is to see just how far the money goes. We have been visiting Christmas markets since 2014 and the prices now compared to then are just crazy. We are just hoping to share some Christmas cheer and drink all the mulled wine we can find😂. Thanks again for watching and commenting
It’s such an awesome atmosphere! Nürnberg is such an old magical city. The Christmas market was almost an afterthought because we enjoyed the city so much.
Hello you two. Very nice Video. I hope you're also making it to the best and oldest Christmas market in the world, the Dresden Striezelmarkt. The Dresden Striezelmarkt is 590 years old. In just 10 more years it will be 600 years old. I highly recommend the Thuringian bratwurst.
Thanks so much! Unfortunately this go around Dresden is not on the list but we want to visit it one day. We are in Tallin now and the market is like a tenth of the size of Nuremberg 😂. Thanks for watching and suffering through our terrible German pronunciations
@@HeresGoodTravel Your German was good. All Christmas markets in Germany are beautiful, but the one in Dresden, woohoo. I would be delighted if you visited the Dresden Striezelmarkt. And I think your reaction will just be wow. lol. Greetings from Mike DJ Mike from the "Green Heart" of Germany in the state of Thuringia. I wish you both a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@@HeresGoodTravel Fürth has nice Christmas markets too. There is a normal one and next to it a medieval market and an old town market. They have been voted by the readers of the lokal newspaper to be the best in the region (including Nürnberg)
🙌 haha no doubt! Crazy it’s that cold. We are headed to the market in Riga rn and it’s not even that cold, we weee hoping to get some snow. Maybe in Tallin
The 1st person I see balancing a mushroom on a fork… am I the only one flipping out seeing him not forking it correctly. Gotta go now eating ice cream with chopsticks
Paprika!!! I think that was it, we were thinking Turmeric but paprika sounds right! Somebody else mentioned those skewers originated in Hungary so the paprika would make too much sense
Oh nooo! We did see them but have not gotten them yet! Alyssa actually isn’t a big fan, but I love them! We will keep an eye out for a stand at our next Christmas market! Thanks for the reminder
50€ for one person: good unless you are planning to spend all day on the market andchavexall meals there. For both: Enough to take a stroll, browse the stands but not buy more than a postcard, a srinknsnd a snack each. What makeshift extremely expensive is going with children…
We spent $50 for both of us- including 3 drinks and 4 sandwiches/ food items and 1 dessert- we shared all of it and it was plenty! We don’t buy souvenirs, but I can imagine it would get expensive with children. We’ve enjoyed doing this Christmas series and have found $50/€50 is a decent amount to eat and drink in multiple places in Europe! Thanks for watching!
Haha for americans everythink is cheap on that Market😂. For german locals is very expensive. I was in San diego ans i felt like a homeless, because everything was expensive to me
We are from San Diego! The Christmas market near our home cost $32 just to ENTER!! It’s a ticketed event just to see the stalls and lights- no food or drinks with that ticket- crazy! We noticed the prices definitely going up in Europe the last few years. Thanks for watching and commenting, next time you’re in San Diego let us known
Definitely not speculaas! We love speculaas when in the neatherlands- this is less sweet, more chewy, and much more texture, maybe even a bit nutty- it’s missing that sweet, cinnamon flavor. It was unique but I’d take speculaas over lebkuchen anyday! Thanks for watching!
Spekulatius. There are different types of it - the " seasoning and the butter ohne. You may have gotten the butter one if you missen the cinnamon, cardamom and the other yummy seasonings. The "Gewürzspekulatius" ist that one you are lokking for.
Not to be rude but I just don’t think European Christmas markets are safe anymore. There was a terrorist attack at a German Christmas today market so it’s better to miss out on them.
We had actually arrived safely home to the US just after the attack. It’s just the saddest situation, we are devastated. We visited 6 this winter without any issue but did have several people mention the risk factor. We will probably take next year off but we hope that the tradition is it ruined by bad people. Hopefully those who were apprehensive about attending this Holliday season can get a taste of the markets through our videos. Merry Christmas, stay safe
No, that has been a "Fleischküchle". Ist seasoned ground meat ( and beef, that depends) wichtig onions and parsley in it. Its a very common food here. Usually we have it with potatoe salad
lol no doubt. Although it’s much more expensive than the markets used to be we have been pleasantly surprised that we were able to leave each market full and with a Christmas buzz going😂🥳🎄
Thanks! We need so much help with our German😂. We got two awesome pork sandwiches at the Munich market but neither were schwein steak. They had crispy pork skin on them and were freaking delicious. Thanks for watching, merry Christmas and cheers!
This is true. The majority of our subscribers are from the US so when they search about the Nüremberg Christmas market they don’t have access to that letter. Thanks for watching anyway❤️🇩🇪
Obviously most cities, especially better know ones, have an English version. That's even similar for the German language e.g. with many Italian cities. But if you wanna know a correct pronunciation, you can ask Sandra Bullock. She grew up mainly in Nuremberg. :)
The Gingerbreads in Germany usually have a wafer on the bottom not icing it might have icing on top though.
That's because the gingerbread cookies were originally made by monks in a church and so the wafer used is like

My dear Weihnachtsmarkt-Couple,
Weihnachtsmaerkte in Deutschland are definitly not cheap, they are very expensive. So I can't afford it anymore and must watch youtube.😢
🎉 Anyway .... hohoho and Merry Christmas!
I want to go there myself.
This almond cookie looks similar to an "American" pastry at the bakery, which is tasty too.
True!
This Christmas market is the oldest in Germany. It is over 400 years old.
❤️🇩🇪
That was fun to Watch. Thank you very much.
Thanks a million for watching this Chris gas Series! We are sad the last video from Tallin is almost here already!
Guan Yu spent time in Germany. He fell for a Slavic with blue eyes. A well known historical fleecer.
Understandable, it’s easy to do
Next market Straßburg 😊
We wish! It’s definitely in our list, we’ve never been! We are dropping a Munich video tonight then Prague, Riga and Tallin!
2 Sausage Sandwiches and a Red Bull. I needed to type US DOJ paperwork all night.
😂
😊nice video. By the way how long is the journey from berlin to Nuremberg by train ?
The train was about 3.5 hours from Berlin to Nuremberg and cost $28 per person. We stayed in Furth which was about 10 minutes outside of Nuremberg.
@@HeresGoodTravel Fürth has nice Christmas markets too. There is a normal one and next to it a medieval market and an old town market. They have been voted by the readers of the lokal newspaper to be the best in the region (including Nürnberg)
Another Secret Service and ECB outing or test in Nuremberg. Grab what is needed for food near $10-15 and book a $115 mid price hotel.
No doubt! Prices compared to even just 3 years ago have gotten out of control!
Go during weekdays to avoid crowds
Yep! It’s hard when traveling to avoid weekends all the time. Thanks for watching!
Go SUNDAYS after 5. Then the tourist crowds are gone and the market is left to the rest of us
Are you going to Dresden striezelmarkt?
Noo😫! We have it saved though. We did Berlin and Munich and made it to the medieval market in Furth. Maybe next year!
Since when is speculatius gingerbread???
@@nordwestbeiwest1899 it’s not! It’s lebkuchen! Thanks for watching
I'm standing outside watching this on my phone in 12 degrees hearing you two complain that 30 is cold........
Hahahaha we noticed that when we were editing. We will see if we can get some chopstick ice cream in Japan this next trip!
4:42 Linus tech tips side hustle ?
We could use a side hustle for sure
@@HeresGoodTravel I mean the dude at 4:42 behind the grill looks like the famous RUclipsr Linus :D
This market is one of the biggest Christmas markets in Germany.
💯
They probably add curry and paprika powder to the schaschlik.
Paprika!!! I think that was it, we were thinking Turmeric but paprika sounds right! Somebody else mentioned those skewers originated in Hungary so the paprika would make too much sense
Schaschlik was very pooular when I grew up in Bavaria in the 70ties. You could get it everywhere.
is that this year christmas market?
Yes, we filmed it on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Thanks for watching!
Please FedEx me a stollen and bottle of gluhwein! 😋
😂🙌🙌🥳
@@HeresGoodTravelI still have my mugs from Berlin, Munich, and Cologne. 😉
Bratwursthäusle you forgot the s but no problem :)
Ahhh you’re right! Thanks for the help! German words for us are such a mouthful. It was hard for the pronunciations, but we love to try for next time.
Fresh roasted chestnuts? Did you try them?
Feuerzangenbowle
lol thanks, the German pronunciations were so hard for us! We had a blast eating the food but not so much when we had to say what it was😂
Haha for americans everythink is cheap on that Market😂.
The cookie is not gingerbread, its speculaas. 😉
I think it is still much more safe than going to school in the US.
That is what a Terrorists wants us to do to stay at home not socialized so the Christmas Tradition died..
This burger is a pork steak. So it is premium meat.
We weren’t sure if it was beef, pork or a combination. We don’t have anything like that back home, we might try to make a recipe when we get back.
@@HeresGoodTravel You may call it Pork Chop Steak.
No, that has been a "Fleischküchle". Ist seasoned ground meat ( and beef, that depends) wichtig onions and parsley in it. Its a very common food here. Usually we have it with potatoe salad
But you can always get a pork chop, grilled and topped with ketchup in a roll. Thats called " Schweinesteak" im Brötchen.
Bavaria is the most beautiful country. Yes I know Naernberch is Franconia in reality 😂
Haha. We had a fabulous time and can’t wait to return during summer next time!
TIL knoblauch means garlic. It's not just an ex MLB player's name. But who names their kid Chuck Garlic? 👨🏫🤷♂️
😂haha thanks for help with the translation! Obviously we are loving the baseball reference. I immediately thought of that guy
There is no letter m in Nürnberg
Thanks!
@ Thank you for visiting our beautiful country
50 bucks easy Amazon
lol no doubt. Although it’s much more expensive than the markets used to be we have been pleasantly surprised that we were able to leave each market full and with a Christmas buzz going😂🥳🎄

Cool!
I like nuremberger better!👍 so much more American like cheeseburger.🇺🇸😆
Thanks so much! We had an awesome time at this Christmas Market. Cant wait to see what they have in Munich!
Where is nuremberg😂😂
Next to Nürnberg
Any syrian islamist marches there?
Not during our stay, at least that we saw
*Nürnberg
Thanks!
Nürnberg. And you pay with Euro, not Dollars
Thanks for watching!
NO ! I don't watch you! - Why I'm not there to enjoy it.
😂. We totally understand. This Christmas market was so cool! Delicious too!
ignorance is bliss.
Amen
I was born in Nurnberg
You’re lucky to be, it’s a magical place
All this food is so delicious! « Schwein » is pork. When it is that cold, drink more gluhwein! 😅
Thanks! We need so much help with our German😂. We got two awesome pork sandwiches at the Munich market but neither were schwein steak. They had crispy pork skin on them and were freaking delicious. Thanks for watching, merry Christmas and cheers!
NÜRNBERG. let me spell that again for you N Ü R N B E R G
The official translation is Nuremberg. Vermutlich weils bei den Amis kein Ü gibt.
Thanks for the help!
😂🙌🙌
