    I lived out of a Lance pickup-camper for 4 years, long ago. The warm-feeling, wood-paneled interior, cabinetry, and plush upholstery always gave me a good feeling about "coming home" to relax after work every day. This Kimbo camper appears to be very well-built, but it looks like the interior design is surprisingly sterile and basic as possible. I'm guessing you'll add a little color and softer textures. Enjoy your travels.

      Oh wow! Bryan plans to add some accent walls and custom cabinetry to make it more personalized. We had a few other projects take precedence, so maybe this will be something to work on over the long winter.

    I like the looks of the kimbo..I just wish the company would open a distribution center on the east coast..I'm in Florida, and the thought of having to drive 3k just to pick one up..then 3k back makes it a major pain in the a$$..there web site doesn't mention anything about selling units anywhere else than Washington!!!.enjoy your unit..many happy miles I hope.

    Interesting... we had a cabover camper... found that for the price and fuel add, made more sense to pull one than load one with such tight quarters. Plus we're getting just a bit too old to climb up into bed and crane necks in there. It's a cool company and for younger couples without kiddos I think it's a winner! Congrats you guys! For water I’d get a LifeSaver Jerry Can with the shower head so I could purify my own water from any source, a folding sink and toilet from Amazon, and a 12 volt fridge. Awesome! Enjoy! Very happy for you both! It’s awesome!

    Think about getting a 2 or 3 step "mounting" steps from the horse and farm store. They are for getting on a horse. They are very sturdy plastic yet lightweight and some have storage compartments. Meant to be kept outside and compact enough to place inside when u r on the road. Have fun with completing your camper and personalizing it your way.

    It is a cool concept but I think there are a number of improvements it needs. I owned one that was loaded with all options. Sold it after two trips. Luckily it has the hype it does and people fought over it. It probably is ok for a single person but as soon as you have a second it gets cramped and the 90 degree short seating is very uncomfortable. You can't sit up in bed, and because of the 45 degree angles up there, you can't lounge in bed either. It also sweats on all the thermal bridges it has with the rivets. Camped in freezing weather and had miniature ice cycles forming on all the rivets. Because the heater is on the far end and not thermostatically controlled it is on or off and when it is on, it is way to hot so it has to be off to sleep, so it will get cold and your warm breath will condense and freeze on the exposed metal surfaces. Oh, don't step on that metal AC cover if you have it without shoes in cold weather! The front window because of the angle may drip water on the bed or soak the felt covering below it in cold weather. I don't think it was meant for that angle of install. The door drips water everywhere because it sweats also.
    Brought these things up with them. Not sure if they have made many changes.

    • @ColoradoMountainLiving
      @ColoradoMountainLiving  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the input! we've notice a few of these things(sweating rivets), but being a smaller person (Amy) has no problems with sitting up in bed or comfort of the benches. We haven't done winter camping yet, so I'm sure they'd be more noticeable if we did a lot of that. Bryan may take it skiing this winter and test it out.

    I would be interested to know the weight of this thing, their website says it starts at 900 lbs? The Tacoma has a payload of less than 1200 lbs, add the weight of passengers, gear, fuel and water, you maybe have a 5-600# usable payload, so I would say that your camper is at least double the allowable weight..

    • @ColoradoMountainLiving
      @ColoradoMountainLiving  Год назад

      Base model about 900# and the Toyota payload at 1200#, so there's a little wiggle room. I wouldn't say double the weight. Weight of passengers wouldn't contribute to payload.

    After having a propane tank stolen being able to lock your tank up is a major feature.
    The biggest group of tourists in Colorado are people who already live there going camping far away from the area of Colorado where they live. My family lived in the mountains near Bailey, but my mom liked camping at Rocky Mountain National Park on the other side of the continental divide.

It's also come in handy to crash in the airport parking lot before an early flight . Have yet to try it out for skiing, but we have more mods to do to get it better equipped for next summer, including storage, sink and stove components. It met our needs perfectly, didn't incur any debt or ongoing storage fees.

    I'm wondering why you would want to maintain humidity in a camper. I would want to eliminate any humidity in that small of a space. How much was this unit as equipped?

    • @ColoradoMountainLiving
      @ColoradoMountainLiving  Год назад

      It's monitoring humidity, not maintaining it, (or maintaining it under 50%) sorry if I misspoke. Equipped it was near $41K (solar panels, appliances, cabinetry)

    Sorry after owning 4 truck campers in the last 30 years, in my opinion, this camper is not much better than a high end tent.

    • @ColoradoMountainLiving
      @ColoradoMountainLiving  Год назад +2

      We think having a full sized mattress, waterproof shelter, heater & water transport, storage and toilet that you don't have to unpack and repack every time you move your tent is awesome.

    • @ColoradoMountainLiving

      Camper is about $28K. It fits in either the short bed or long bed, but short bed will have to leave tailgate down. If you have the long bed, you can close the tailgate.
