Sir! If I may ask about the specifications of your air intake? Did you have to make custom tubes? Cut anything to fit the air filter? I have a 230e sedan, and the air intake tubes are damaged, looking into replacing it with something similar, no matter what the purists say, a better, cleaner intake is a better running engine after all Thank you 😁
17 year old girl here… been getting into cars lately, and other than a Ford Capri 1600 gt, mustang ‘73, (and ofc a Ferrari 488 spider), this is definitely my dream car! And the most realistic one tbh😅
Another great review content Kyle! It's call the "frameless" door frame. This '89 230E has been "face-lifted" all round but the headlights remained the pre-facelifted version. The extra CAI serves little purpose unless it replaces the entire air filter component which seemed an extra effort for a non-injection engine. When start up the seat belt should be pushed out which is called the "butler" for easy reach for both front passengers. The chrome rings are all aftermarket both for the meters and air conditioning dials. The higher model such as the 300 or 320CE all comes with back head rest. Nonetheless it's a great rebuild and glad to see that the Phillipines are also into restoring young timers and classics into their former glory! p/s: about the sunroof, for imported models most comes with it and it can only slide open with tilt function but not the glass version for that era.
I own a 1989 230E sedan with Manual transmisión. Couple of weeks ago a had a 1989, automatic 300CE North American Specification. The acceleration for 0-60 km/h might be a little better for the 230 due to the sluggish auto box. Indeed they are not fast cars but fairly sufficient.
The sports Mercedes Benz have traditionally never had the raised star. They also have the large chrome star in the grill. What is happening today is that people are buying that sports package for run of the mill models. I think once you drive the 320E/CE (I owned the sedan), you won't consider the anything below the 320 line. Improved braking was also a huge boost. The 230 engines are adequate, as you say.
regarding the Hoodstar: You get them with the sedans in "none sport" Trims and never again in coupes and convertibles after this one...just like in SUVs. CLS is the only exception to "sedan" as counted as a coupe
First comment after premiere for today? Is it just me or is that third person pov (seeing the vehicle from the outside moving) during the test drive something new? Cool!!! Keep it up.
A very nice review! Just about to begin building my 124. Can you tell me the exact model of these rims? All I know is that its R18 AMG, but I've seen a few versions of it, thus would be nice to know exactly. Thanks!
You can use a blank plate cover which you can DIY with white cardboard and magnets/top hooks. It could save your time blurring the plate. Only when hard-parked, not while driving on a public road. P.S. I already saw uncensored in this vid thumbnail. ;)
Yes great idea! The owner later told me that it’s ok to show the plate haha so I decided not to blur the thumbnail anymore. He also made a video on the car btw hehe you can check his channel out. It’s in the description :)
Nice c124! Great review also. May I also know about the finish of the bumpers and claddings? Im about to repaint my 124. Will I use the same color code body and lower/bumpers? Thanks bro!

Still one of the nicest looking Benz models. Perfect proportions and size. The operation of the mono wiper and side windows is truly unique.

Thanks for that detailed analysis! Yes, we do try to restore as much beauties as we can here. They're getting rarer and rarer nowadays :D
ah! I begun to think I remembered the glass-sunroof, from my first imported model, wrong! I kinda miss that one on my coup cuz I liked it :)
God dammit man, I came here for the Benz, and ended laughing my ass off.
Most certainly those roosters had their say in it.

W124 for collection, W210 for daily
