I have a 7th gen on iOS 15 beta, it's ok. Camera isn't awful, just in the dark. It's good enough for some people. My 6th gen however, is only 3 and a half years old and it's practically dead. Jailbreaking can really bring these things back to life, if you have a bettery pack on you as life support for the iPod
back in high school days the new ipod touch "itouch" line wsa always exciting. Going from gen1 to gen2 was super dope. Then gen 3 was eh but it got better specs. Gen 4 finally got a camera and was like woah. 5 was back to meh but better specs and now 6 and 7 are ok, but not needed since its all about phones. But at the start they rolled them out every year or other year and it was awesome. I just regret buying my gen3 64gb refurb but mint..from apple for like 330 bucks i think or maybe 360 actually. Because within a month or 2 later they brought out the gen4 with a camera and obviously it was like 399. So i got the prior year model, almost near full price and they release the new one. Thats like getting last years iphone right before the new one and paying the near full price tag. Then youre just like meh, and a bit pissed.
I'm not sure what the Canadian prices are but in NZ the 128gb version of the current gen iPod is $550, the 256gb is $750!; yes $NZ but that's what we have. So not really cheap. I suspect these are still in demand for playing music in older cars, of which we have a lot over here, & for (mainly older?) people who just can't afford or don't need a cell phone plan.
It can be a simple phone with VoIP apps like Talkatone and Google Voice, among others. Importantly, you cannot make emergency calls via VoIP at this point.
I'd rather use an old Android phone to serve this niche of a dedicated music/media/backup device. You get the advantage of having an SD card slot so even a cheap/old device with like 16GB of space you can just stuff a 256GB microSD card into.
i have a ipod touch 5g 16gb with no back camera and i remember playing the walking dead on it and it ran surprisingly well and it had decent battery life.
Someone could easily confuse the iPod and the pre iPhone X iPhone's as they look nearly identical to iPhone released at the time except for iPhone X's and later as they never update the design
Basically now a days when people upgrade phones, the old phone becomes the iPod making ilbuying an iPod not necessary. Every since my iPod 5th gen died, I started using an old iPhone 4s as an iPod. Then when my girlfriend upgrading from her SE, the SE became my iPod
Apple would make millions if they went back to the iPod Classic. Also makes sense because it has a clear distinct purpose from something where you can run apps.
This was my first apple product. I still have it and i just use it to to watch and consume content, but it has to be plugged on because the battery is already so bad.

I had an iPod touch 6, but the battery sucked and it was so laggy, comparable to the iPhone 4s on iOS 9. I got a refurbished iPhone 8 to replace it, so now the 8 is my “iPod”
iPod touch 6 is the one that I regularly use today because it's the only one i have
Hello from my iPod 6! Still use it a lot for watching RUclips and listening to music in bed so I don't have to take my main phone in there. A little slow but it works perfectly fine... as long as you keep the charger plugged in haha
I’m planning on buying a 5th Gen and jailbreaking it and getting Dark Mode on it
Don’t get the 5th gen. It runs slow on iOS 9.
I’m calling the police
The current iPod touch 7th gen is so great! I have three!
I’ve got the same gold, I use it when I’m on do not disturb
Apple should use the iPod touch to compete with the GABB phone that would be interesting
Watching this on my IPod
back in high school days the new ipod touch "itouch" line wsa always exciting.
I lost mine but its battery life was as bad as it can possibly get and it was pretty slow
I had an iPod touch 6th gen 16GB and 128GB , now I’ve got the iPod touch 7th gen 256GB its great
I know a friend who has one of these, and I’m actually sending this from the 7th generation
I'd rather use an old Android phone to serve this niche of a dedicated music/media/backup device. You get the advantage of having an SD card slot so even a cheap/old device with like 16GB of space you can just stuff a 256GB microSD card into.
I legit forgot this existed LOOOOL
I hope they make another ipod touch but with chassis as the iphone 12 and of course a bigger screen with decent specs
i have a ipod touch 5g 16gb with no back camera and i remember playing the walking dead on it and it ran surprisingly well and it had decent battery life.
Someone could easily confuse the iPod and the pre iPhone X iPhone's as they look nearly identical to iPhone released at the time except for iPhone X's and later as they never update the design
mine is 5th or 6th generation ipod touch and is running 14.7.1 right now completely up to date with no mods whatsoever.
edit: i stand corrected 🤓
Isn't that the 7th gen?
You have the 7th Gen then. Touch 5 goes up to iOS 9, touch 6 goes up to iOS 12
Iphone 5’s 10 year anniversary soon!
The iPhone 4S you meant, the iPhone 5 came out in 2012
@@mattybraps7620 Next year I mean
I’m saying iphone 5 because it’s one of the most well known iPhones and it’s half of ten
Basically now a days when people upgrade phones, the old phone becomes the iPod making ilbuying an iPod not necessary. Every since my iPod 5th gen died, I started using an old iPhone 4s as an iPod. Then when my girlfriend upgrading from her SE, the SE became my iPod
My iPod touch 2g still works great
It's perfect in 2022 as a satnav when MTB
Hey love your videos
I love iPod touch❤️
Apple would make millions if they went back to the iPod Classic.
Also makes sense because it has a clear distinct purpose from something where you can run apps.
I used the iPod 6 as my only device for like 4 years
Do I see Vancouver in the background 👀?
3:00 what’s up with that iPhone 6? That camera on that 6 looks so odd. Is it a genuine iPhone 6 or a clone of some sort?
I have an iPhone 6 and yes it really looks like that. Very odd looking indeed.
How can you use an iPod touch as a phone you will need to have it on speaker mode
This was my first apple product. I still have it and i just use it to to watch and consume content, but it has to be plugged on because the battery is already so bad.
I actually still have my iPod touch 6 from when i was a kid
I hope they're planning on making Ipod Touch 8 with the iPhone 12 design..
still use my ipod touch 6 gen to this day....long live IOS 8.4.......special shoutout to puffin pro the fastest flash enabled browser in the world!!!!!!
same. i thought my batt just got bad overtime but I barely use it and when I finally decided to fill it up with downloaded music, it dies on me. shame.
I actually have the same color! gold. isn't that awesome?
