You mentioned 3D printing the landing gear would be costly, obviously you have limited resources in your position. As a beginner I would recommend you to build f450 or f250 than to make aeroplane type. You can easily buy kit and start learning about how each machines work and what you should do to operate them :D
Making drone isn't hard but the mistake that most beginners make is using a KK flight controller since programming isn't required in it as it's pre-programmed and it's easier to calibrate and stuff but the problem with KK is that, it's control is hard and it doesn't stabilize properly many times. It's better to use APM flight controller even if you're a beginner.

@@DIYLIFEHACKER actually I have a tarrot landing gear. I tried with motor driver but its only opening not closing.

@@DIYLIFEHACKER yes, it does. One motor is working in clockwise and other in anticlockwise to open the gear. But both aren't working in anticlockwise and clockwise respectively for the closing operation.
