The Alien and Predator franchises are a beacon of hope for the bounce back of cinema over the next decade, and I'm so grateful that it is my 2 favourite franchises that are receiving this care and attention from the studios. Star Wars has all but purged its original fan base and almost fallen off a cliff with quality and story telling and I have very little hopes for the new Jurassic movie. I think you're doing great work on analysing the Alien franchise. Keep up the good work. I was glad that Alien Romulus was a success and that a sequel and new AVP movie are likely to be in the works. Although it looks unlikely, given Ridley Scott's advanced age, what I would really want to see is a conclusion movie to his prequel series (Prometheus, Alien Covenant) so that we can finally see how it leads into the original 1979 Alien movie
It's difficult for me to understand how big franchise movies can fail. I mean, they do, but how can one get there within reasonable limits? By the time something is a franchise, there are comics, books, fan fiction, people who would be excited to work on anything related. To me it seems very simple: buy the rights to the best stories, ask passionate people to make the movie, pay them well, leave them alone. How can some of these pointless plotless storyless characterless movies be made remains a mystery to me.
Well, at least they’re giving fans options instead of alienating those who might not have liked or agreed with the direction the franchise. The beauty of the Alien and Predator IP’s is the antagonists are the real stars it doesn’t really have to be linear as you could have different offshoots, spin-offs and storylines kind of like an anthology series with different main protagonists in each Film or TV Series to potentially please all fans
Looking forward to both these new Predator releases, i always remain cautiously optimistic. Can't expect the perfection of some of the originals of course. I did enjoy Romulus, even though i had a couple gripes with it, though I'd still be interested in a sequel.
I agree that the characters of Rain and Andy were a highpoint of Romulus. I would like to see David return and get some closure on his story and the fate of the Covenant.
Yup. But I'm not losing all hope for AvP - I was originally terrified for Romulus considering there's not been a good Alien film since 1986, but I left the theater speechless after watching it!! Still don't know if AvP can be saved though 😔
Yeah, that period when we didn't know if we'd ever get another Alien franchise film again was after Ridley Scott's last craptastic "prequel". Thankfully, Fede Alvarez saved the franchise and has opened the door for more franchise films, even if the price was legitimizing Scott's vapid "prequel" origin nonsense. Dan Trachtenberg has done the same as Fede Alvarez, but for the Predator franchise. Thank goodness there is still a decision maker, Steve Asbell, at Disney MegaCorp that emphasizes story over "wokeness". Its amazing he still has a job at the Activist House of the Psychotic Mouse.
I'm here for it, all of it. 6:10 I want a Praetorian. I figured "Romulus" was Roman so maybe they would go that direction. Offspring...was my least favorite part of the movie but can appreciate how practical it was (effects).
@eduardogutierrez4698 if either character is in the next film, it is immediately worse for it. Even if they bring back the andy model, they better make it a different Droid. Maybe he can have a computer face like rook.
I feel sorry for Steve Perry writing two books with he's main characters as newt and hicks before alien 3 came out. But to fix it with a name change only to add Ripley in the third book taking place after alien 3...
My pitch for a sequel to Alien: Romulus. It's out of the frying pan and into the fire as Rain & Andy end up on the moon they were aiming for, only to discover it is inhabited purely by Working Joe synthetics. Hence why Weyland-Yutani synthetics are not allowed there. Andy is a superior model and is the key to being able to get off the moon. The Working Joes are experimenting with the Aliens with Seegson believing they are safe from them due to not being able to provide neither hosts nor food. But what happens when you starve a creature? The Aliens have become cannibalistic, fighting and eating one another, with Facehuggers then attempting to impregnate the adult Xenomorphs. This has resulted in hundreds of failed examples across dozens of generations of attempted in-breeding. Therefore most of the Aliens encountered are weak and feeble with genetic flaws and mutations. But amongst them in this gene pool are a few that have grown stronger as a result of this in-breeding. Rain & Andy naturally discover these stronger Aliens and must engineer a way to escape or survive until the next human Seegson inspection ship arrives. But even then, how would they be able to convince the company representatives to let them onboard?
My one hope is that Alien: Isolation's status as canon becomes more official, and that Amanda Ripley's adventures still take place around the time of Romulus and its sequel. Just more "same time, different place" stuff happening across the galaxy.
Oh God, oh man, oh GOD oh MAN! Was my reaction reading the title. More slop for the masses. Well probably, I'm still hoping that one day they'll be able to make a lore accurate and good movie. But the issue is that the cannon had been butchered so much already that it's an inconsistent mess. What I would give to have a good Labyrinth, Berserker or AVP: Prey movie.
The Romulus movie kicked off with promise, blending some intriguing Weyland lore with a fresh view of the dystopian world of Alien. But soon, it slid into bland predictability, making the experience more painful with each obvious turn. I only hope for better and some Colonial Marine Action.
I'd love to see a real cat and mouse affair like the first movie. Romulus almost went in that direction, and I was a little disappointed that it didn't. A single alien, hunting a pack of humans but maybe with a little more motivation/explanation behind the alien.
It's interesting that Steve Asbell said they couldn't talk about one of the two upcoming Predator movies, but referred to Badlands as "live-action". No one would assume it was anything but live-action so why call it out as such. Except that perhaps in his mind, THAT is what differentiates it from the secret Predator movie? Animated feature perhaps?
This comment section sure is something *A commenter minding their business* "Hey, I really liked Romulus and/or Prey, this is cool" *Some random weirdo* "And I took that personally, how dare you like something I don't approve of!" We get it people, you didn't liked the newer films, that's perfectly fair and reasonable, going at people's throats for not sharing your mindset however is pretty much the opposite of reasonable
A further expansion of several franchises that technically are part of the Alien mythos and one that (as we have speculated before) isn't. The first introduction of soldiers from the "Soldier" movie 1998, and a crafting to include factual the movie "Outland" 1980. Each would complement the other franchises, adding more color to the universe. In particular, Outland would re-introduce the mgea corperation Com-Am. A little corporate sabotage, military might, and good old fashioned greed for the ultimate prize in the galaxy.
Would love to see the Predator being established in the Alien universe just like it was in the comics I.E. the Predator is hunting a squad of stranded Colonial Marines. No need to have any Xenomorph's but that would be enough to at least establish it.
Well a New Aliens versus Predator movie with the United Systems Colonial Marines in the mix would definitely make me watch it. Elle Fanning’s new movie sounds really cool, the sequel to Romulus will be interesting when it eventually comes out.
As long as Fede Alverez helms the sequel and Cailee and David return I am very happy. I too fell in love with both of them in Romulus. They had fantastic chemistry as siblings and it was a great film.
Predators being officially canon within the Alien franchise would be dope. So much they could do with that especially with the crazy amount of predator and alien lore from the comics.
An Alien Romulus sequel with a Yautja in it might be interesting actually. With all of Weyland Yutani's interest into the Xenomorph in most of this franchise I am surprised they have not encountered any (Maybe in expanded material) and I assume they would want one. What if the survivors of Romulus came across one in another Weyland facility along with a Xenomorph. Or something similar. :D
Fede did mention on an article for the The Wrap the next film would be a crossover with the prequels to close that story arc. What I found curious about Romulus is how it mostly connected with Prometheus, and kinda already retcon Covenant were the pathogen came from the Xeno, than what we saw in Covenant. Plus Fede mentioned on AVP galaxy podcast, everything they learned of the pathogen before getting Big Chap came from messages that Vickers or Janek sent from the Prometheus before its destruction. I wonder if this sequel will kinda just let the David know ur no Alien creator which will break him down or the option do full on retcon and reintroduce Dr Shaw and the engineers, were David comes across a distressed Corbelan and pick Rain and Andy up and from there go to Alien homeworld...since Fede mentioned on the The wrap article he wanted to end the story arc of the prequels in a big way. So I'm like peeked if this is the direction he goes towards.
What the sequel to "Alien: Romulus" be about is an exploration of the Remus module that wasn't explored of which maybe since the movie wasn't truly canon, then something way worst than what was explored in the Romulus module could've been in there.
Alien isolation and alien Romulus are set 5 years apart so you could say due to the events on Sevastopol Station lead Wayland yetani to nostromo location.
I actually dig the idea of an AVP movie evolving organically, like a Predator flick that might feature a Xenomorph or an Alien film that may feature a Yautja.
So the predator movie "Badlands" with Elle Fanning will be like Prey, just with a blond thin girl beating the Yautja... I hope I am wrong. THAT would be nuts.
River of pain? I think that is better as an Alien Isolation sequel. You play as newt surviving until the marines arrive. Maybe sections as he parents driving the rover or searching the derelict.
Alien Romulus could go in any direction… I think personally it would be neat if Rain / Andy encounter Amanda Ripley… and untie in force having both dealt with Xenos before.
The difference in directing, and ideas, quality between Alvarez and Trachtberg is massive. I hope he proves me wrong but it's obvious that the Predator IP is brutally underutilized, until Disney finds a way to start applying the Star Wars treatment to these franchises.
if they do another AvP movie, I'd like to see a more true to novel movie set during the same timeframe of the books with the same characters instead of the loosely based AVP we got in 2009
Marvel put out an Alien:Romulus one shot comic this week that fills in what happened on the space station in between finding the fossilised alien and the scooby gang blundering into it during the film. It mentions 'remus' as a part of the station, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the next alien film, if fede is involved and it builds on his story, is titled Alien:Remus. Adapting the 1990 AvP comic is still, imo, the surest way of having a decent AvP film, and could lead into war and three world war if it's successful.
Still got to pick that one up, working through the dark horse comics and omnibus books. I do want to know what happens to Big Chap so I'll probably get that one sooner now 😂. And Aliens seventh circle coming out soon.
I would very much like for Bjorn to come back. Would’ve preferred him and Andy as the survivors as they were the ones who had real tension and conflict between them

It wasn't great, and definitely wasn't scary. .
Yep.
I hope the next movie introduces Amanda Ripley. Probably wont happen. But it would be cool.
You’re doing remarkable things with your style!
The Rage wars books is probably what you're looking for
"A new Alien Versus Predator movie"
Six words guaranteed to draw collective groans and instil a sense of dread in any fan of these franchises.
Yup. But I'm not losing all hope for AvP - I was originally terrified for Romulus considering there's not been a good Alien film since 1986, but I left the theater speechless after watching it!! Still don't know if AvP can be saved though 😔
This is like the end of an Alien film….just when you thought it was dead, it get’s back up and takes another bite.
I hope they dont kill off either Rain or Andy offscreen like they did Hicks and Newt...
@eduardogutierrez4698 if either character is in the next film, it is immediately worse for it. Even if they bring back the andy model, they better make it a different Droid. Maybe he can have a computer face like rook.
@@eduardogutierrez4698 don't forget Shaw. She was also a much better character than Rain and Andy.
@@wretchardkimball9049uhm what.
I highly doubt that they,d do that like in the 1st qaurter of Alien 3
I feel sorry for Steve Perry writing two books with he's main characters as newt and hicks before alien 3 came out. But to fix it with a name change only to add Ripley in the third book taking place after alien 3...
Another AVP movie would be great, but what would be even better is a sequel to the AVP 2010 game!
3:42 So they're doing it "Fire & Stone"-style where there are separate stories that will one way or another overlap and combine.. I like this guy.
I would love to see a conclusion of the "David" trilogy.
We're eating good after a long drought. I'm a happy chappie!
😂 what
The Romulus movie kicked off with promise, blending some intriguing Weyland lore with a fresh view of the dystopian world of Alien.
I agree with everything, specifically that the franchise is on solid footing. It's been sooooo long
At least your channel's future is in no danger! Plenty of content potential coming! :D
I also think the planet where Rain and Andy was going is actually Origy 6 mentioned in Alien: Covenant.
Hopefully we can actually get another scary Alien or predator movie..
A secret Predator movie? Sounds almost like an animated feature or something, surely things would've leaked from a film set.
This comment section sure is something
*A commenter minding their business* "Hey, I really liked Romulus and/or Prey, this is cool"
*Some random weirdo* "And I took that personally, how dare you like something I don't approve of!"
We get it people, you didn't liked the newer films, that's perfectly fair and reasonable, going at people's throats for not sharing your mindset however is pretty much the opposite of reasonable
Would love to see the Predator being established in the Alien universe just like it was in the comics
I.E. the Predator is hunting a squad of stranded Colonial Marines. No need to have any Xenomorph's but that would be enough to at least establish it.
The part of my brain dedicated to spoiling things noticed a passing similarity between Alien Romulus and the 70s kids TV show The Double Deckers.
@@walsingham-xxiii they're going to start singing and dancing?
What film did you see 😂
Well a New Aliens versus Predator movie with the United Systems Colonial Marines in the mix would definitely make me watch it. Elle Fanning’s new movie sounds really cool, the sequel to Romulus will be interesting when it eventually comes out.
I've never liked what we got from the AvP concept.
They always end up humanising the predator and dumbing down the threat and intellect of the Alien.
He said Badlands was live-action leading me to believe that the other secret Predator film is a CGI animated feature most likely.
I would really love to see a Predator vs. Colonial Marines movie.
If it’s an AVP movie the only thing I want is for the colonial marines to be a part of it!
Please get some Terminators and Skynet vs David and the engineers and throw in some Predators n colonial Marines! Thanks
I’d like to see how the queen alien becomes the queen on screen and how drones molt into worrier aliens.
My life from 20 has been a Rollercoaster between these two franchises and I've loved it all - the highs and the lows. Very stoked now....
I'd like to see some kind of connection to Amanada Ripley
Alien isolation and alien Romulus are set 5 years apart so you could say due to the events on Sevastopol Station lead Wayland yetani to nostromo location.
I actually dig the idea of an AVP movie evolving organically, like a Predator flick that might feature a Xenomorph or an Alien film that may feature a Yautja.
Great to hear your voice again my friend ❤
I would like to see them get to where they are going, and it half way turned into a hive world.
So the predator movie "Badlands" with Elle Fanning will be like Prey, just with a blond thin girl beating the Yautja... I hope I am wrong. THAT would be nuts.
Please fede!! Make this one about the hadley's hope story 😫😫
I hope the next Avp gets a nice story and cast like the original that movie was awesome
Pred encounter the engineers. No human characters.
The difference in directing, and ideas, quality between Alvarez and Trachtberg is massive. I hope he proves me wrong but it's obvious that the Predator IP is brutally underutilized, until Disney finds a way to start applying the Star Wars treatment to these franchises.
if they do another AvP movie, I'd like to see a more true to novel movie set during the same timeframe of the books with the same characters instead of the loosely based AVP we got in 2009
I really need to see a sequel to Covenant, see what David did next, up to the events of the first Alien film.
Probably something like the Pandorum film and the Rage War books
As always thx so much for all your hard work to make these epic videos…Stay Frosty 🫡
Ohhh thanks for turning my notifications off RUclips.
Looking forward to all of these new releases.
Alien Romulus took part on both halves of Romulus and Remus.
They could have rain and Andy land on Hadley's hope during the initial outbreak and somehow escape before the Marines arrive
I was "meh" with Romulus so I am not too hyped about what will come next tbh. I was cautious for a reason and I proved to be right.
I think there's definitely going to be a female Yutja in "Badlands".
I would very much like for Bjorn to come back.
Would’ve preferred him and Andy as the survivors as they were the ones who had real tension and conflict between them
