- Orangutans are great apes, as opposed to monkeys, and are more closely related to humans, having 97% of DNA in common.
Orangutans are extremely patient and intelligent mammals. They are very observant and inquisitive, and there are many stories of orangutans escaping from zoos after having observing the routine of their keepers unlock and lock doors.
They are currently an endangered species due to habitat loss. Suitable orangutan habitat in Indonesia and Malaysia has declined by more than 80% in the last 20 years.

There are animals in this world who connect you right away with HEAVEN. They open your heart and pure love is flowing inside your breast like never before. Once you look into those magic soft eyes - you are lost. Sweetest little things in the world!
I look into their eyes and I see us. Their souls are pure, untainted. It's the way humans should be. But we make things so much more painful and complicated than they ever need to be. If I could spend the rest of my life in the wild with these beings I might find peace. The modern human world is chaos and confusion. The orangutans, in their natural habitat, live in peace and security. It's only humans who threaten them.
@@Screeno1993 I agree. We, as humans are so toxic and selfish. It's sad there has to be places like this at all. Anyone who would take a baby from its mother is horrible and has no heart. Especially the poachers and traffickers that kill the mothers and sell the babies💔😥
It is a pity the Orangutans are experiencing this. But I’m so thankful there are people there who care and take care of those precious babies.

@@Xpzilla Yes. Palm plantations think orangutan are pests, when they're the ones encroaching into orangutan habitat. They kill many orangutans and babies. The second biggest threat is poachers who sell the babies into illegal pet trade. I don't know why people want orangutan pets, its like raising a human child. Also, boycott palm oil to help orangutans.

Look into their eyes. At first, infinite sadness, frightened, worried, fearful, longing, missing and then hope, comes with love and care - what are they thinking ? They must think that we are odd, hairless apes, some who only bring hurt but others who bring love and kindness. There is a quiet fulfilment in the eyes of the mothers. With the life that these dedicated carers are giving back to the orphaned little ones, the peace which this brings after so much trauma gives them confidence to live and learn. They show their characters - all different - just like us. They laugh and they smile. They have moods and tantrums but find comfort in each other - just like us. They just want security, a peaceful stress-free life and a big kiss and a cuddle - just like us. Effectively they ARE us
As someone who suffers from maternal attachment issues and a lot of trauma, I just want peace and security in the world... Looking into their eyes.. I see myself. The baby orangutan is me just wanting mother's love.

I think that the fact that these animals are SO close in relation to humans (sharing 97% of DNA in common & the babies being SO CUTE, expressive, and smart), along with the fact that their habitats are being destroyed by humans planting for profits and the killing off the infant's mothers, it's making a perfect storm situation. Humans want to take the babies (which makes for a terrible, unhealthy, and un-natural situation for these animals), as well as producing a sale market for the babies to people who either want to exploit them (because they ARE so human-like but not) or try and turn them into personal Fur Baby humanoids! Fact is, upon seeing the babies, I've had brief moments of thinking what it would be like to have one of those adorable animals as a pet but realistically, I'd NEVER attempt something like that because I cognitively understand that something like that would, without a doubt, be disastrous for this animal and the health of this species, not to speak of the FACT of me placing MYSELF IN DANGER DUE TO THIS ANIMAL NOT BEING A CUTE 'LITTLE' FOREVER FUR-BABY, BUT AN ANIMAL THAT WILL BECOME LARGE AND EXTREMELY STRONG! AN ANIMAL THAT WILL EVENTUALLY DEVELOP AND GROW INTO ITS NATURAL, WILD, DNA DISTINCTIVE GREAT APE SELF! These animals are beautiful creatures who should live their lives in the wild, their natural habitat! And the babies deserve to have their mothers alive and well so they can be taught how to be Orangutans In The Wild instead of becoming orphan pets feed people food or part of someone's carnival sideshow exhibition.

There's a video I just came from of Steve Irwin in Borneo or something and a mother orangutan actually comes up to him and tries to introduce her nervous baby to him. It's so human.. they deserve to live the life they were born for. Not artificial things.. I mean.. I don't really want to live in this confusing, artificial world

I'll never understand how any human being can murder the mothers of these precious, beautiful, sweet babies and then either leave them to die a slow, painful death while desperately clinging to their mother's body OR selling them into captivity with people who do not take good care of them. Thank God for the people and organizations who rescue and rehabilitate as many orangutan babies as they can. We have done these Forrest People so wrong and I don't know if we have enough time to left to even save the species. PLEASE READ LABELS AND REFUSE TO BUY PRODUCTS CONTAINING PALM OIL!

That very last enclosure, probably some zoo idk but, I really really hope they don’t live their entire lives in that tiny indoor space. That would be honestly heartbreaking to say the least.
Most zoos have an indoor enclosure for shelter and an outdoor one for play and exploration

Having been raised in S/W Mt. I graduated from high school in 1968 and then went out to Seattle to look for work. The first Orangutan I ever saw was at the Seattle Zoo. All I could see is a pile of reddish hair, It was laying down, in a curled position. I kept trying to figure out just what I was seeing. It then started to stand, when It got about halfway up it looked just like cousin It from the old Adams Family TV show‼🤨🤔🤗Yup❗😁 G-G.

I think ‘incel’ is in fact inaccurate as their loneliness and rejection is purely self inflicted. Every time my brain short-circuits with cuteness, I wonder what it would be like for aliens to see us the same way.
I'd like to read a story about humans being brain-meltingly adorable to aliens. About aliens basically having humans as pets or mascots. I can't find search terms that turn up anything but erotica unfortunately.
Baby orangutans are incredibly cute and behave exactly like human babies. Grown Orangutans however are no longer cute and almost scary in appearance. Hopefully, habitats and sanctuaries in Sumatra and Borneo can thrive in order to sustain this remarkable breed of animal. Giant Pandas of China are equally precious!
