Quite possibly the greatest portable groovebox of all time! I wish they would create a new one with the same ethos

@@igorecord @moshell5249 What upgrades would you want to see? I'm not from Yamaha or anything, I just think it's a good idea. Sonicware SmplTrek is kind of superficially similar, but it's a sampler and doesn't come with a lot of built-in sounds, so you'd have to put a multi-instrument sample pack into it to get anything remotely equivalent in terms of usage. Its display is very small, though, which might feel like a downgrade to QY users.

My buddy used to have one.
    It's great.
It's basically a motif style sequencer in it. So you can make pretty much anything with it if ya really get under the hood.
Probably the best portable sequencer I've seen.
    Great jam !

I'd like to play with the OP-1, it's just as small and powerful.

Behold the last and final Yamaha QY iteration, the almighty RM1X. All the QY sequencer power (which is still a force to reckon), combined with AWM2 engine and a dance soundset. Not to mention the midi implementation unsurpassed to this day!
There's only one better: the RS7000. The eternal god.

I subscribed in a hope that you could make a tutorial, how to use it as a groove-box, since you used it in real-time, switching on-off tracks. I have this but it 's not used enough. I like the way how you pre-programmed tracks and switched arounds, a pretty unique way to use it. Great work there!

huh. I've got one but couldn't really wrap my head around the sequencer. But a single 4-bar pattern being muted and unmuted? That I think I could do. This is cool as heck.

    • @igorecord

yes, I mute the sound of any track, this allows me to diversify the pattern, save space in the device and quickly record a track for RUclips
