it's the attack formation. 2-1-2 means the first two forwards attack deep in the zone, the third forward stays in the middle, and the two defensemen are high on the blue line. a 1-2-2 has one man pressuring deep, two forwards covering the middle, and the two defensemen are back on the blue line.
Im relatively new to the game, and this was the best explanation Ive seen so far. You make it understandable.... which is so critical. Nice.
Not a fan of the stack as the D to D beats every forward but I like the spread a lot
