Rescuing A Trailer With Our Trailer

- We got contacted by a manufacturer to go out on Lockhart Basin and get one of their over landing trailers that had snapped a spindle. They had a new spindle for us to install but with it having already snapped one we didn't want to chance pulling it out and having another issue. So we went in with the recovery trailer and hauled it back out. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Mike, please ask more of the "What's going through your mind when..." type questions, giving Rory the chance to explain what must seem mundane to him but counts as revelation for some of us.
@@davidjb3671 Yup what you said.
what he said
Rory has great reasons for what he does and we want to hear them. He just needs some prodding to share the thoughts he would otherwise hoard.
I agree
Totally agree with this.
I like Mike filming on these recoveries. He points out features in the landscape and names of places if he knows them.
And when he doesn't, he makes it up!
@@denises.8463 I was just thinking that to.
But he doesn't seem to know all the good elk hunting spots....lol
Hes a ROLLEN ONX
He has an eye for it. If Justin didn't exist, I'd suspect Mike was the editor. I wonder if Justin helps with the Dirtbilly Deluxe channel edits. Mike does such a great job showing us what he is doing. I send him props for how he frames things up all the time.
Thanks Mike and Shaun for showing us the beautiful country out there
Rory spitting that trail knowledge
Manufacturers of these off road trailers should talk to the people that do recoveries to find out what actually works in the real world. Some excellent footage Mike & Shawn. Nice job editing Justin. Thanks for sharing
Maybe a Trail Mater version for the discerning connoisseur of trail ready trailers for overlanders😂
Maybe just follow Rory’s advice - base camp before battering.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. Thanks for typing it out.
I built mine solid as I could without making too heavy to pull haven’t weighed it yet crossing my fingers.
Then everyone would cry about the price because they would want everything on it for super cheap.
Mike is hilarious so please don't let him go anywhere. 3x3 square foot and Rory's face You made that up! OMG I
Im glad Mike asked that question. I saw that he was hitting both ledges and then he turned left a little and crawled right up it. Always learning something new from yalls videos.
Theres probably only 5% of the worlds population who could drive a manual off road without smoking the clutch..Rory u da man
Love that you include the scenery for the sake of the scenery. Awesome area.
Really appreciate Mike asking Rory what his thought process was getting through that double ledge spot, fun details!
Your editor is very talented, so is your cameraman. ❤
Beautiful scenery today! For some reason it seemed more spectacular than usual. Thanks Mike!
I agree! Several times I said 'wow!' as I watched. Gotta get out to that neck of the woods...errrr, desert.
I think Rory is hinting that the little trainer shouldn't be out there. But who knows, he was very diplomatic by Rory standards.
make sense as base camp as he said
yup, by typical Rory standards...
What trainer? LOL
@@BigdaddyslasherI take it you've never had your cell phone type the wrong words.
He's an honest man with good discernment, a man of the people!
Thanks guns, after 2am here in Australia when i was watching your stream.
My 2 dogs were asleep on my bed until you played around with those chicken dog toys.
My dogs were off, barking and looking for the toys. "TWICE"!
Don't think my family or new neighbours who moved in on the weekend are too happy.
😂😂
Howdy from Bull Hollow Oklahoma
That’s funny
Mike seems like a fairly fit guy but I don't know where he gets the energy to run behind, then ahead of Mater in the heat that you experience. I'm thankful he can because we get some great views of the scenery and the rigs. Thanks all.
Doritos
I like Mike's question. I was reminded of when Matt and Rory were talking about the early days of content creation. Matt's wife Jaime took Rory's camera and asked him to describe what he was doing and why and his descriptions and conversation with Jaime (and the camera) made the videos better.
Thanks, Mike!
Should have built on an m416. Mine made it through ww2 carring ammo. Will float down a river, I haul it fully loaded every weekend. Also has a swivel pintle. Solid as a rock...
yeah if you build a trailer for where you are going perfectly fine then. but people insist on taking even new jeeps where they shouldnt. lots of advertisiong is deceptive and people fall for it.
I'm here for the trailer-on-trailer action, especially with the straps on!
I sometimes get so focused on what these guys are doing that I forget to look at the background of where they are. Moab is so beautiful.
Shout out for Shawn, Rock Steady, the glue holding the team together.
Trailmater can repair itself.... Damn I love that truck ❤ 😂
My wife’s dog just went absolutely ballistic when you squeaked all the chickens!! And now…back to the vid.
The shots of the rig bouncing and going over obstacles never gets old. I could watch that all day
I don't do it for other channels though. I only watch them here...hmmm.
Stunning topography for those who've never seen it.
I don't know how you guys keep coming up with new stuff, but I think this is the first time I've seen you haul a trailer on your trailer. And thanks for explaining how they just don't hold up in terrain like that. I get entertained and educated all in one video.
I believe they just need to answer the phone. The variety of folks roaming the area is astounding every time I visit Moab. Forget Disneyland, southern Utah is the most magical place on earth.
Mike’s running commentary makes these great videos even better
Trailer carrying a trailer on a trail on the trailMater channel.... I call it "Trailception"
The Jeep Trailer needs MIKE'S Rear Steer Axle!!!! Actuall Rory is spot on about using trailers as Base Camps.
Rory just calls it like he sees it! Mike is a great camera man for local natural beauty of the land/area. Shawn is the do+all/ comedian/ driver! Great job y'all 👍😊
Rory an his ever present 3 pedal ballet!👍
Thanks Mike for the incredible scenery. Welding on the trail, what a gift! !! !!!
Another beautiful day in your office❤ with friends.
Rory will not back down from work. Good work ethics for the rest of us men in America to see.
Let me get up off the couch and get another burger while I think this over...
In the beginning I couldn't understand why after they fixed it they were putting it on their trailer. Then on the trip out it became blatantly obvious to the most casual observer. If they tried to tow it out they would have needed more parts. Lmao 🤣😂
Great video Mike's camera work is outstanding!
Mike amazing footage again today!!!😊
Interesting , Thank You. Another fine example of Rory and the Crew in Action. Not to mention the beautiful scenery. Reparing some thing before it breaks , amazing concept.
LOL @ Chicken Corners! Hello Trail Mater !!!
Won't never get tired of scenery ❤
I liked the “what was Rory thinking” part. Scary I know… 😂 But interesting & informative!
Thanks for making. I liked mikes filming like a road runner
Rory, You use the ledges, because You are, a legend!
That trailer you guys built is something else, perfectly simple.
Had to come back and comment on Shawn, his recovery outfit is top notch.
Love this video it had two trail repairs and only one recovery! Love this channel and the Trail Mater Team of Rory, Mike and Shawn! Love their office and scenery too!
Watching Trail mater do what he does best;(Wich is everything) never gets old 👍 you just can't beat the OG recovery rig🤷
Moab is where you go to test a raw metal block of steel, you weld a chain to it and drag it behind trailmater, if it’s still there after hours of testing, it’s safe to build stuff with it
It's always a good time squeezing chickens and watching Rory and trail mater do that recovery thing. Manual clutch for the win!
Your camera work makes me feel like I'm right there with you, fantastic. Thamk you.
That trailer, the right tool for the job.
Every time I see that trailer, I wanta modify it. Some pocket coils, or something. I know, it’d just be heavier; he no doubt has it correct.
@@russbell6418 The low air pressure in those big tires and also whatever it carries has shocks.
Thanks Mike for getting all those artistic shots! You are an ARTEEEEEST!
To know how to touch every obstacle on his terms is highly calculated and Rory does it instinctively. Cool!
Mike provided some great video shots from all different angles.
Well we know what to get the crew for Christmas.
There is just something really good about seeing TrailMater out in the wilds.
I just love his honest opinions without going over the top. Please continue
G'day everyone, have a great day.
All jacked up...... HaHaHa! Mike
The last minute of each video is the best.
You guys have the best office environment of all the channels I watch. Thank you for sharing with us!
The new additions to the fleet have been great and watching Trail Mater work it's way through trails like that with a trailer in tow is what got me hooked on the channel. It never gets old. Nor does the scenery!
Great to see Trail Mater in action again. I know you have a fleet that needs to be used for the right jobs, but Trail Mater is my favorite
Double ledge education. I like it. I don’t have a lot of that round here so I pay attention for when we travel.
Thank you guys
The trailer owner shouldn't be too disheartened, Rory wouldn't take most of the things he rescues out there.
So True
Mike you're the best and you are improving all the time in the angles for your vids... well done.
It’s nice to see ole mater getting some work
The Trailmater rig is a work of art. So many hard earned repairs scar it like...well...ART! You can't duplicate something so awesome. Rory makes other rigs that have their own awesome personalities.
I ran Chicken Corners years ago. It was my first Moab trail and we did it in December. We saw nobody and it blew my mind. That area is so Beautiful !!
Nice job pretty scenery😊
That trailer was a little out of its element. Made more for forest trails than rock crawling. Nice work getting it back to civilization. Big D putting in the work again.
Nice recovery and scenery. You know, I expect a rocktologist to stumble onto this channel one day, and when that happens, word will spread in the medical community and every rocktologist in the country will be watching!😊
Just a thought rory and trailmater would fit in a mad max flim , king of the returning 😅
Great job on the recoveries!! Sometimes you just have to take the trailer! LOL!! Good thing for all the amateurs that you guys are there to help!!
Another excellent video!
As terrific as your videos are, and THEY ARE, the views pale in comparison to being there. Been there exploring, hiking and camping back in my youth. Thanks to The King of Moab and the crew those old memories are refreshed. Thanks guys. I enjoy every moment.
That was some of the best trailer on trailer action I have ever seen!
Amazing camera work and such a beautiful setting. Thank you for sharing it all with us.
Great video guys, premium entertainment presented by Rory, Mike and Shaun....with a bonus of watching Shaun flexing on a boulder 🤣🤣🤣
Props to the videography! 👍
What better test can a new product go through than the terrain of Moab? Test it until failure and the limits are established. It is the manufacturers that do not test that are the bane of the off-road world.
The scenery is amazing ... once again ...the right vehicle for recoveries.....you show how it is done.....great stuff....
5:16 Attn! Super driver lesson!
Trailmater; the closest this side of the Pacific Ocean you can get to that Mad Max experience....!
My observations, GREAT Technical Driving skills, technical use of equipment, overall use of equipment, mechanical skills, rigging skills, video shots, scenery, narration, humor, video editing, team work. What a team, BEST on the Internet. Thanks for all the your teams hard work, produced for our enternainment.
Great camera work!
Nice job Mike of asking the questions that Rory takes for granted because he has been doing it so long. Explaining what he is thinking helps us novices figure things out. Also it is always good to stay in tune with your vehicle to know when things are not working like it is supposed to before something totally goes wrong. Nice job as always guys.
enjoyed every moment
That pair of trailers got some good airtime today. Mater would go down a drop and thud into place with shocks damping the motion, then the trailer duo would drop, bounce 3" up and come down, bounce 2" up and come down, then trail on behind, sometimes 4-5" over. It was interesting to watch.
Mike, the camera work from the passenger seat was top notch! I thoroughly enjoyed watching the front tire go over an obstacle and then the rears without a break in the action. Nice!
Someone believed the "Military-grade, indestructable" hype on the ad.
And it's full of butane...
Thanks guys!
Loved the explanation about feeling your way up and over ledges: route-finding by braille!
That scenery....just wow, hasnt gotten old yet, dont think it ever could.
Thank you Rory and crew for the adventure , seeing some amazing scenery and nice recovery ! There was a few places that I thought for sure that the trailer was going to flip over but then I remembered who was driving , Rory ! He really shows his expertise of driving in that area !
Another testament to the strength and durability of what is necessary to be able to survive in the great rock pile that is Moab Utah. And it's obvious that that little unit is for light duty bubble gum trails. Thanks for sharing.
They claim it is Military grade with 3/16 steel wall & 14 gauge sheet .
$14,000 starting price and 1000 pound payload. This is an embarassment for Addax, along with parcing errors on web page. Somebody messed up on this!
@@honthirty_ I would hate to think we would ever send something so cheap and flimsy into battle with any of my countrymen depending on it for squat. Military grade, for Hamas maybe.
Impressed you got your trailer up the canyon on Lockhart. I drove up that canyon earlier this year and it’s tight and rough.
Sweet episode. I will admit I've had a couple of beers, but I watch this and realize when I'm out on a trail, I unfortunately start acting like I'm driving TrailMater and get myself into all kinds of trouble. My tires are rubbing and my trucks making crazy noises. But I do have to dave to say that that the scenery in this video was top nothc. God bless the USA
Great job filming all of the action!
The view from your office is fantastic! Another great job well done
Best camera work, beautiful country. Your recoveries are always interesting.
Love the teaching and scenery
Great camera work. Magnificent scenery.
