I just got it in Black, it’s my second guitar after give up for my old cheap one, and let me tell you I’m in love with this guitar, I mean, the sound, the color, the versatility, the small and comfy body, and all for a reasonable and affordable price, I absolutely recommend this one for beginners as myself 🤟🏼
Melissa thank you so much for nice presentation & lovely play. I am in older age just about learning to play guitar looking to buy one and fall in love with Fender.
@@MashaT22 Bone nut & saddle....They are extremely inexpensive!.......You can get then for $5 AUD on ebay, so fender could get them very cheap in bulk!
There is a design flaw in some guitars of this model. You wont be able to use sound hole cover on this guitar, since the fretboard extend into the sound hole. My guitar has that flaw. But the guitar on this video looks ok though
This guitar is perfectly specked except for two things: - the nuts should be upgradable to a Graphtec one if someone pays a bit extra (or free upgrade for Fender Play members). Plastic is horrible for a beginners who may be mashing the strings. It’ll wear very quickly and need replacing within months - and it’s not fair to put a beginner who just bought a lot of new stuff in the position of having to make repairs/upgrades of that nature by paying a guitar tech (most will be too inexperienced and scared to try replacing a nut and setting it up on their own). A Graphtec or even a bone nut (they aren’t all super expensive) will stand the test of time and should be standard or at least available as an upgrade for a minimal up charge for the cost of the part at the most. - the scale length of 25.3” is horrible for most beginners who can’t stretch their fingers over the top 4-5 frets. It’ll lead to struggling and frustration. A beginner guitar should ALWAYS be 24.75 or less, as they are MUCH easier to play when it comes to fretting chords or individual notes and doing other skills like bending. I am an intermediate level player and have been playing over 1.5 years, and I still can’t use a guitar with a scale length more than 24.75”. My fingers struggle to form an open c chord, can’t reach many weird fancy chords, stretch for power chords at the top 4-5 frets of the neck. This model’s 25.3” may be doable for “some” players from the start of their guitar journeys, but it won’t be true of the vast majority of beginning and intermediate players. Actually, I really think Fender/Squire should offer every guitar in their lineup with a choice of 25.5” (or whatever odd scale length you’ve historically used) or 24.75” - I think you’d be surprised to see the number of players that would buy a 24.5” Strat or Tele, for instance. A It’s a nice guitar overall, with a Fender headstock (not Squier), and the preinstalled Fishman pickup/amp is a nice bonus at this price point! Fix the above two issues so it’ll be perfect!
You are 100% right about the bone nut & saddle, for the price of the CD-60SCE they should come standard. Bone nut & saddle only cost $7 AUD on ebay delivered, so i purchased a set as well as elixar strings so it will sound like a much higher teir guitar!...... I originally wanted a yamaha FG-840 or the FG-850 mahogany but was outta my price range so i settled for the CD-60SCE all mahogany and was pleasantly surprised how well it played straight outta the box, it didnt even need any set up, the action was perfect. Fender have certainly lifted their game in the acoustic market!....... The CD-140SCE cost around $100 dollars more than the CD-60SCE and the only difference is the CD-140 has a synthetic NuBone nut & saddle and comes with a case.....I dont need a case as i use a stand and like i said i bought a Buffalo bone nut/saddle for $7.....and on Fenders web site the price differece is $200.....So you're essentially paying $100+ extra for synthetic saddle/nut...NO THANKS......imo Buffalo Bone sounds better than synthetic NuBone anyway, but then again some acoustics sound better with high quality hard plastic , others with Tusq and others with Bone....It just depends on the individual guitar, personal preference and the style of music you play. I had a guitar years ago that i swapped the plastic saddle out for bone but ended up putting the plastic back in cause the bone was to bright for my taste & the plastic was more balanced a warm sounding.......though that is rare.....usually bone will almost always sound better than plastic! No offence meant but if you are struggling to play an open c-chord or barre the lower frets, then you are probably not at the intermediate level or perhaps u just have short fingers?.....How to you go with the major & pentatonic scales that stretch over 4 frets?...... Sounds like you would benefit from a 3/4 acoustic! .....Most of them are 24" scale.....A 3/4 Little Martin LX1 would be perfect for you and is a great higher tier guitar...The exact same guitar Ed Sheeran performs with!.......You can pick up a brand new Martin LX1 for $600 USD or a Baby Taylor BT1 for $450 USD or the BT2 if you prefer a solid mahogany top over the spruce...... I personally love mahogany and ceder tops, they have a great warm mellow sound where as sruce is quite bright, though it all comes down to personal preference. I have quite short stubby fingers and used to have trouble reaching over the lower 4 frets....For example when i was starting out i found it nearly impossible in Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) Intro to reach from the 5th fret to the 2nd fret pull off & 2nd fret A string walk down....But after a couple months practice i found it to be quite easy.....But if you still have trouble i would definately recommend a 3/4 acoustic. I'm gonna buy a 3/4 Martin or Taylor when i can afford it...They are excellent high quality instruments with low action & great playability!
@@stavros693000 I can play a 24.75” without any problem. It’s only a 25.5” that becomes a huge problem. It’s not that I can’t do it on a 25.5”, but I can’t do it comfortably like the 24.75. I have large palms with shorter fingers, lol. I’ve tried 24”, but they feel a bit cramped overall. 24.75” seems to be my sweet spot. I’ve heard tons of guitar teachers and experienced players say exactly what I said above - most folks will find 24.75” a much easier guitar to play vs. a 25.5”, not just where chord shape forming is concerned at those top frets, but for skills like bending that are more difficult and longer scale lengths necks. Everyone is different, of course, and that’s why there are options out there! 😉☺️ Btw, have you tried Graphtech nuts and saddles?
@@MashaT22 yeah ive tried it at music store....im not oppose to using it, its just expensive in australia and is imported from usa...so bone is my material of choice due to its cheap price and it sounds good! ....if i could afford it i would probably use ivory or tusq....but i do like the sound of bone its not as bright as tusq,...i prefer warm balanced sounds....which is why i dont mind harder plastics as long as the guitar is strung with quality strings....i personally love elixar lights phosphor bronze nano web!
CD means it's full sized while CC is a bit smaller in size. I have the CD 60-SCE as my first guitar and trust me, just buy it. I have no regrets. Just remember to get it set up (adjust string height, maybe get a new set of strings and ask them to stretch them first) by a professional. Saves you a lot of trouble.
