I hope they make an slr with the k mount. I still use my k1000. That camera is built like a tank the fact that I can use the old lenses on my new Pentax dslr is amazing.
Half frames are half the resolution of a full frame. Better to buy a 2nd hand, full frame Pentax K1000. If you want the image to be vertical, just rotate the camera when you’re shooting & you have double the resolution of this camera. The K1000 was then first camera I bought brand new when I left school.
@@kayla-kt1cj yeah if you have money to spend on telling a company there’s a market for film, rather than spending your money on quality photography, sure. Pentax already have better tech than this, they designed K1000 45 years ago, they’re just not giving it to the customers.
@@global001 the old film department of pentax is basically long gone by now if your don't know. Now they have to spend more resources on RND bcz alot of old engineers have bite the dust and getting them out of retirement are not easy. Nikon has already tried this with the s2 but in limited quantities bcz the film department are all retired.
@@kayla-kt1cj of course it has. Lol. They still own all the designs of the K1000, they don’t need to redesign it, just put it back into production. They literally had to design this version so they can easily adapt the blue print of the K1000. I strongly suspect that’s actually what they did but just left the best bits out to make it cheaper.
@@global001 They actually *don't* have that tech any more, and the supply chain for them doesn't exist. Read my interviews of the team on PetaPixel and DP Review for the story of what it took to make a new film camera; it was actually a major undertaking.
Beginner friendly modes? There are 8 of them and at least 2 of them needs reading manual several times to get it what silver do vs gold. Version two with faster shutter, faster lens and manual focus lens with a normal selector (no P silver and gold confusing circus on it) will be perfect
I want this camera…..but not for 500 bucks! They need to seriously bring that price down to a more realistic $300. Personally, I will never buy this at full price and I think many would agree with me.
i mean a bit debatable though considering you can find old half frame cameras for cheaper on ebay used (but of course the headache to ensure the condition is good is another thing)
Inexpensive is definitely NOT the word I would use here. For 500 bucks this thing should’ve at least had interchangeable lenses. Or at the very least, a better lens period.
OMG! I just trashed this camera in my review. It does not compare to the 1988 made yashica samurai X4.0 half frame 35mm SLR point & Shoot! More bang for your buck! So glad new film cams are being made but that's my 2 cents. BH! THIS IS A JOKE COMMENT! Please don't sic BIG FILM'S hitmen on me. I'm scared now.
a half-format camera made of plastic at a proud price. i don't understand the hype. any used 35mm camera from the 80s in good condition is much better made and much cheaper and much more valuable
Ooh nice camera, glad Pentax are developing new film cameras.😊

Great photos and very nice camera
man do I want one
The problem is you can pick up a Nikon f2 for less money and it'll last forever.
Bring back Kodachrome 25 😂😂😂
Glad film photography is coming back, scared people are going to start thinking these cameras are worth more than $100
It is sold for 500$.
Not worth it for $500, Olympus pen S much better, timeless😂
pretty unique
Is that a BOKEH mode I spy?! 😂
it's just the widest aperture.
They know the people buying this have a max 70 IQ
At $500, half frame, yeah I don't know about that.
Ordering mine next week🎉
Am waiting for the SLR version.
If they marked around $300😢.. il jump in .Now we need bring down the color films .😅
Yeah 500 for a film camera is crazy
@@kart182 not really. Theres some from ages ago that sell for thousands
@@cf8979 it’s crazy when there are as good or better film cameras from ages ago for the same price

Reminds me of my Kodak Instamatic.
Woow!!
I need one.
No more digital cameras.
I prefer film...
Can you change the leather to yellow color? 💛

It maybe better , but if you have the money , u should buy the pentax 17 to help fund future film camera from pentax.

Fun to review but it will be as successful as the S9.

For 500+ $, no thanks
What is the music in this clip please & Ty?!!
Why doesn’t it have a parallax rangefinder window?

and a money pit 😂
I know that it may be more artistic, but digital is more economical.
Agree. We can get used point and shoot digital cameras for similar prices. Better off getting an instax printer lol
@@jmtphotographymedia I am getting a mirrorless camera soon. Learning how to master that is enough of an artistic triumph 😎
It’s all good and cool until you need to pay 550$ for it
It looks much like Pentax K2 film camera... some photographers really would need wide converter for it
is half frame cool? Yes!... would I pay $500 for it... yikes
Highlights are always blown. It is ripoff at $500+.
A camera for the Instagram generation, who has no idea about shutter speed, f stops and depth of field.

If would really desire to be sustainable we should stop using film for the masses 😅
500 bucks
Far too expencive!
They selll 200 bucks camera for 500 :D
Make a brand new film camera with the same features and let me know what the economy of scale allows you to sell it for with a niche customer base
@@TheCol111 Thats the point, the customer base would be much higher if it had decent features and was a fullframe
Film and development will cost more than the camera 😢
Half format is a big joke
$500 POS😂 you have to be kidding right?
Looks cool, but half frame? Fixed lens? Manual focus? No, thanks.
Not only is it manual focus, but it's zone focus. At this price I feel that it could have been a rangefinder.

A fake video to push a product. Every real review this is not a good camera. Can't trust BH to be honest
Film is for photo, Digital is for image.
