- In this Video I compare 6 different microfones to find out what‘s the best budget snare mic for drum recordings. All mics cost less than 100€ and you might be surprised what sound you can get out of them. Enjoy, Simon.

Great comparison in a nice budget range. My tops are the Lewitt and the Audix mic.
I have 2 sets of Electrovoice mics which have served me well for 2+ years on live gigs and for my drum covers on my channel. I have 8 PL35s for snare and toms and 2 PL33s for my floor toms. I mic my snare from the front middle between two toms. The way the mic shape is angled, the PL35 tucks in quite nicely.
Love the description for the AKG 'Dull' lol. SM57 for me classic.
D40 is actually quite similar sounding to the i5, described as "smooth highs". It sounds duller because it comes after the very bright MB2K in the video. D40 is one of my go-to live snare mics as it needs less eq-ing at the top end and helps reduce hi-hat bleed. Ultimately, with a good engineer and decent eq, I'm sure they will all do a good job.
Wow. Finaly someone knows how to do a comparison video! Thank you!
Thank you!!! What should we compare next?
@@ThomannsDrumBash Thank you for the question. I'll think about it and let you know..
@@tripsandir3683 Great! //Simon
Nice! I would go with the Lewitt. Sounds for me the most balanced of all. 👌
Audio technica MB 2K, Shure sm 57:)

Would love a similar exercise for toms and kicks 😁
Which overhead mics did you use on this? When the crash in comes in, it's really nice!
Wait for the tom mics.
i5 or SM57 all the way.
Got the sm57, for live situations a Sennheiser e604 so I don't have to carry another mic stand... Next up Tom mic comparison right ? :-)
SM57!
For snare only then the shure for sure 🤪 (sorry 😆)
But if one was looking for just 1 mic as their very 1st one for multiple applikations, then I'd definetly say the Audio Technica.
The Audix sounds very similar to the Audio Trchnica in terms of the overall balance to me. And it might be either slightly or a little better (depending on who is listening), but it's also slightly less than 2× the price :)
nice video.. you missed the best one.. SubZero SZM-10... check it out.. also awesome for toms.. pretty much a SM57... just a little better lowend, and a touch less midrange boost... and 1/4 of the SM57
Hey! Thanks for the comment and the tip. Gonna check it out! Glad you like the video.
Great video plz also do toms mic and overhead or full mic pack if possible thank you so much ❤️
It‘s on the way!!! //Simon
I listened with my eyes closed and liked the Lewitt the best. Although the snare sound is not exactly my favorite kind, so it's a bit harder to judge
Audio technica mb 2k Is metal body or plastic??
Hi. It's metal. //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash thnx u 🙏
What about SE V7X?
Mb2k is really good at price
Very good snare. What is this?
Hi. It’s a Pearl 14x6,5 Sensitone Aluminum Snare
Now the Beyerdynamic costs less than 100 so it has his place here 😉
Beyerdynamic !! (And Lewitt)
I think that people don't waited to finish video
No t bone in here?
So my T bone MB-75 didn’t make the list.... oh wait I play E drums.
Mtp 440 is a great all around mic
It sure is!
