my mom always told me this when i was growing up and shopping. literally from anywhere. always wash them before wearing them even trying them on WASH before anything.
I've been doing this for a while because I and many I know have worked at clothing and department stores. I didn't work clothes, but of what I saw was enough, along with what I've heard of people doing in changing rooms (also dont get me started on thrifting horrors I've heard/seen, plus my own family trying to convince to just donate very clearly dirty/unfit clothing bc "but they wash them" - they dont). Funnily, I got some clothes for Christmas and I shocked my grandma just yesterday saying I wash them first when she asked why I haven't worn them yet. I refuse to buy from shine (never have, never will in the foreseeable future), but it still stands. Like wash your clothes no matter where
ALWAYS. I have sensitive skin even touching SHEIN bag’s before I take the garment out makes my skin break out in hives. When you have atopic dermatitis, you realize quick when you uncounter an allergen/iritant.
Absolutely insane to me that people "develop strategies, such as stepping on bags and controlling the items" instead of just not buying from sketchy businesses such as shien. The fact someone willingly buys shien makeup (which i was not aware they sell until now) and puts in on their body is horrifying.
Can you imagine you’re waiting for your blood results back to find out whether or not you have CANCER and your vial just goes off into someone’s package order. Someone deserves a lawsuit what the actual eff!
As a guy that has experience in delivery services i know exactly how that can of beans and blood sample got in there and unfortunately the guy who put them in her package and by result ended messing the correct delivery of the blood sample, is not the person that deserves a lawsuit because he was only trying to help. Let me explain. First it has absolutely nothing to do with Shien. Shien doesn't have nether blood samples or beans to put in her package order even by mistake. If you track the blood sample you will see that the origin is from a completely different place and it was never in China. This is 100% the fault of the delivery courier service which in this case is FedEX. Now what happens exactly? This guys take the packages squeeze them in metal cages and put them in planes. Now what happens when you squeeze many packages in a metal cage? Yes you guessed it. Some packages get a little crushed(especially if the box is full of air because is bigger than the item inside) others rub against the metal of the cages and get a little torn etc. After that you get people throwing them in tracks and then the unloading that happens in the storage center. Unloading is nasty. It's done fast and not carefully, packages are being piled up there just so the trucks can unload fast and go etc. The procedure of correctly identifying items and placing them in the correct area for delivery happens later. That is where the mistake happened. Ether the person arranging the packages or even the driver himself(each driver delivers specific areas and has a specific storage area where his packages are placed and many times arrange it a little as well) found those items lose on the ground because they had fallen from the package because the package was damaged and maybe got as little open on the side or torn somewhere etc. Now this person sees this items on the ground and realises as much. The next action is to look for the packages near those fallen items and see if they are torn or a little crushed and opened etc. If they see a package near that matches that description they assume that more than likely have fallen from that package place them back inside and close that package better trying to fix it. 9 times out of 10 the assumption is correct and you can be happy you did good and saved a customer from receiving an order with missing items, BUT sometimes it wasn't that package. So that is what happened. In this case this items fell from different packages, the person seeing the items while arranging packages assumed they had fallen from her package and threw them back in her package but this time the assumption didn't work because that wasn't it with the result of her getting an irrelevant can of beans and a blood sample out of nowhere.
I used to work for a common fashion retailer in Germany and France. When clothes arrive on packages in the store for us to put on hangers, they have an incredible chemical stench. Don’t believe even for one second that the clothes you buy in stores are even a tiny bit less chemical than SHEIN stuff. Just saying. Buy second hand if you can, the quality of 90s and 2000s clothes was better anyway.
The reason for it is that they are sprayed with products to protect them from bugs throughout the shipment process. I used to get bad allergies when unstocking clothes and would get rashes on my arms. That's why it's important to wash everything you buy before wearing
I also worked for one big retail store in Europe on unpacking orders and putting it in the storage. Some things had bad smell, especially jeans and some knitwear. My hands were very dry with rashes. Some collegues complained about that as well.
Same for me (also in Germany). The clothes used to arrive damp and in some cases even wet. We had to let them hang in the storage room to dry before hanging them out for sale. After a while the skin on my hands would peel off. But not just mine, all my coworkers had the same problems with their hands. One hot summer day I almost fainted in the storage room from the chemical fumes and had to sit outside for 30 minutes to get some fresh air and recover. I now work for a different fashion retailer and not once were the clothes damp, wet or stinking from chemical fumes and my hands and health is fine there.
Years back, I mentioned about the stiffness and smell of new clothes. I person in the clothing industry said that most clothes are made in foriegn factories that are unclean and because of that, before their garments are exported the garments are fumigated to prevent the spread of bugs and disease to other parts of the world.
I order from there all the time and it’s some of the best clothing. Just because there are some bad experiences doesn’t mean it’s bad as a whole , I’ve never once of my two years gotten anything dirty or smelly from SHEIN
I've been ordering from them since covid, and I've never had a negative experience with them. No smells, no bugs (dead or alive), no trackers, no food, no vials of blood. NOTHING
As someone who works at Walmart, its not that different. I work with clothing and once in a while i get fishy smelly boxes of t shirts. Also people love to rub their boogers on the hoodies. Pretty much everytime i buy clothes i give it a decent wash before putting it on. Also we do get people returning underwear and it goes right back on the shelf. No scorpions yet but there are roaches and rats creeping here and there.
My sister in law bought a table cloth there and we smelled the rotten fish smell from the package. My wife even told me they smelled like these Omega 3 vitamins, that are literally fish oil.
At least that is probably not dangerous, just gross. A good brand will have stinky dyes properly washed out before the final sizing is applied and it's packed for shipping. Bulk Chinese brandless stuff has no quality control. Western companies who use Chinese manufacturing basically have to impose Western regulations to keep themselves from getting in trouble, but buying off brand direct from China whether as a customer or a retailer means there's no standards in place at all.
The thing is, almost all clothes are now made with plastic, polyester, synthetic textiles, which is non-breathable. Then they place the said synthetic fabrics into plastic bags for shipping and it sweats releasing chemicals. When we wear them, sweat in them, also releases chemicals.
When I worked at Target recently, any cloth material item would REEK as soon as I opened the box. Synthetic fibers. Always funny when the box label would say "anti microbial" lol
I'm poor as well and I don't shop at any fast fashion or online realtor. I just don't shop LOL. When I need anything new, i save up and get something that I know will stand the test of time rather than an item I might be able to purchase faster because it's cheaper. Before I got my first legal job at 14 I didn't fully understand the value of a dollar - and i'll never forget when I took my very first paycheque to the mall thinking I would buy everything I wanted but ended up coming home with nothing. My Mom asked me what happened and I simply told her that everytime I wanted to buy something I would calculate how many hours I had to work to make the money for said purchase and ended up putting everything back as I just didn't think it was worth it anymore. I'm 35 and when I was in high school and even in my early 20s there wasn't anything like SHEIN or Temu, yet we all still managed to be clothed and pay our bills. It's because we weren't over-consuming, we weren't needing to buy a new outfit or random decor for our rooms/homes every weekend out of boredom. I still rarely if ever purchase anything online because I constantly worry what I'm buying won't be worth the money because I can't physically see it beforehand. I guess that makes me old fashioned, but it's clearly keeping more than just my wallet safe.
The problem is, that unless you buy local hand made products, then no matter where you buy stuff, it's probably coming from the exact same factories in china and india...same products just overprised😢
No it ain’t. It’s not the same at all yes it’s made by some of the places but. Suppliers need to stop cheaping out and if everyone didn’t want a million clothes they could pay a higher price for a better item and buy less jeez. And suppliers can pick where their clothes are made that’s on them
I work with small businesses local to me. And the designs are made one street over but the shirts are 100% still from.china. there is no escaping it. Not unless you plan to price it so high they won't sell. That's the problem we face here. I want to buy local but my customers here cannot afford it and it sits on the shelf
My #1 tip for moving towards sustainability is buying less clothing, wearing pieces longer, and getting well-constructed replacements when the old wears out. I have some clothing items I’ve worn for 15 years. Also, the “I’m poor, it’s all I can afford” argument for buying SHEIN kinda falls flat when you remember thrift stores sell shirts for like $4 and SHEIN has items for $20-30 apiece sometimes…
I am a plus size girl and my pants wear dowm very easily. Instead of getting a new pair, I patch them. Sustainable and cheaper. This should be the mind set. People forgot that almost anything can be repaired.
I have to get my cargo pants on Poshmark because no stores and not even Goodwill have the straight cuff legs and in my size. I pay more than a thrift store ($10-$20 each) but it's my only option. I only get new clothes when my waist size is too big. I last got a new set of pants in 2016. They last a long time. My shirts and shoes I get at Goodwill and wear them until they wear down.
Tbh first mistake is shopping at shein. As someone that is in college and isn't making any money, I choose to shop second hand rather than support a brand that is affordable but is unethical. Not to mention, I'm Chinese and would rather not support a brand that also exploits people from the motherland
As a broke college student, I can't even afford Shein anymore... (I never bought there but still) Look at their prices 😭 This goes for all fast fashion
I just shop at thrift stores and I have a ton of cute clothes that are 100% cotton/linen. I've also learned to tailor/sew so I can buy clothes that don't fit and make them fit. Even buy bedsheets and turn them into dresses. There are so many alternatives to fast fashion that cost *less* and last longer. People need to invest in pieces that aren't just a trend and value their clothes more. It drives me nuts how many SheIn items have shown up in thrift stores. Like people must buy them to wear once and think it's nbd if they donate them afterwards. It is a big deal. Our hyperconsumerism is destroying the planet y'all
you’re so right! it’s taken me a few years, but i’ve created a nice little wardrobe for myself from thrift stores and my sewing machine. also, dude! thrifting is so frustrating lately because of all of the shein stuff people keep dumping off :’(
I can only wear natural fabrics like cotton and it's fast becoming obsolete...even brands that used to use cotton for the majority of their clothes. Now it's all polyester, acrylic, etc aka plastic clothes.
@@LilyRae22yes, these materials are mostly uncomfortable and are actually dangerously flammable to wear!! 😬 I’ve read some horrible things I can’t forget about accidents and melting clothes. They will sometimes even state on the label not to wear near open flames
As someone who sews quite a bit washing any new fabric is always a good plan. The dies and chemicals used on fabrics ...all fabrics is not meant to be on the skin. So definitely wash before wearing or sewing any fabric.
I got a rash from a Walmart watch before. The rubber on the watch band gave light chemical burns and the skin got red and irritated and peeled off like a sunburn.
the problem is the same factories made the products you buy in Zara, H&M etc. A fashion magazine editor say her original Alexander McQueen boots were made of cheap plastic and smell funny. So is very hard to scape from harmful chemicals.
@@Amy_the_Lizard Those stores aren't cheap like shein and Walmart, but they are selling the same skeezy sweat factory type stuff. It's not about the price point necessarily, it's all about sourcing and the clothing brands individual standards. There was someone who said they had brand name Alexander McQueen boots that were made of cheap plastic and smelled toxic. It's about greed in the end, and greed targets all the market audiences. Rich and poor. We just need to call it out when we see it as consumers. Don't let it slide! 👊
Realistically the same people that are telling people not to shop from SHIEN are still shopping from Zara,Gucci,Temu,Amazon and more. A lot of people are still buying fast fashion but for a marked up price. Not everyone can afford to support local brands or buy handmade items.
Even more terrifying to think what's happening to the poor people working in the factories. Is anyone keeping tabs on fatal diseases in Shein factory and packing employees?
@@couture You guys obviously have no idea about Canine biology. Don't judge someone when you don't even know scientific facts. The dog is and will clearly be fine. Nitpickers irk me.
I just got an Amazon delivery of 4 cases of canned cat food. The box stunk on my porch. I opened it and the first case I looked at was infested with fast moving black bugs. It's really cold here so I just left it all outside. I can't imagine working in a warehouse and filling this order without seeing the infested case of food. It was so disgusting that I couldn't even check the other three cases. I don't want these bugs to breed in my house. From this day forward I'll never buy pet food or anything that would attract swarms of bugs online, period. So gross.
Pretty sure Amazon uses robots to pack orders. I once got a doll that was wrongly labelled. The doll was supposed to be black but the doll I got was white. Don't think a human would make a mistake like that unless they are blind.
I've never had that happen, we get our cat food ordered on a schedule. However, sometimes a can will get broken and get gross. Maybe that could have happened. When the delivery workers just throw the boxes around it makes me anxious bruh
@@Redex0104 those aren't from shein or aliexpress, shein & aliexpress are themselves marketplaces like amazon where individual sellers can list their products. if something ships from an amazon warehouse, it's not from the same sellers as the ones based in china that list on shein/aliexpress.
Although I am not defending any of the practices of using chemicals in the production of clothing, I do find it interesting, that it is suddenly becoming an issue in this particular time frame, especially since I can clearly remember these same exact scents being in the clothing of the (seventies). As a teenager, I would go downtown in my hometown, and I would try on various clothing items, and I distinctly remember the “fishy” smell as well as the “formaldehyde” smell, and there was usually a (tag) on said clothing item, that clearly indicated that the item should be (laundered) before wearing.
A lot of people are more ignorant and the IQ levels have dropped, so this is all shocking to them. Also China is unregulated so there is a lot more chemicals being applied liberally in massive doses.
I love that you spoke about lead and just how dangerous and how much its in. I am the mother of a lead poisoned child and it was because of our home. PLEASE DON'T DENY LEAD TESTING FOR YOUR CHILDREN!

15:53 In the past I’ve had three incidents of major itching after trying on Walmart unwashed clothes. I was itching to the point of tearing up for hours. At this point no shops are safe.
I used to buy from SHEIN, never temu. I swore off SHEIN when I learned of their questionable practices and child labor. I’m so glad I don’t buy from there anymore because this is just disturbing.
If the adults were being paid fairly the kids wouldn't have to work in sweatshops. They could go to school and have better lives. Every child deserves an education.
@@kasperorganics-organiccott6881 ya, the thing is with the cost of living rising no one is going to get the education/care they need, it's one of the reason's there are so many kids obsessed with the internet as it's an escape, you also have to remember that there laws are different and that kids need money to escape
because it's all fake...i use SHEIN and will never deny they're not a perfect brand, but seriously...a vial of "blood"? they would've been banned in the US faster than TikTok😂
samee ive been ordering since 2020 and i've never had problems...and i've used items that probably should've had problems LOL (makeup, nail glue, ext.)
It’s not only about the dangers to consumers. Fast fashion is a danger to our environment by furthering overproduction and ensuing overconsumption. Quality over quantity. We don’t need nearly as much as the advertisement and media/ social media machine wants to make us believe. Let’s make conscious and environmentally sustainable choices. SHEIN…and the likes ain’t it!
People need to be aware that the same clothes/items being sold in Shein are also being sold by various sellers on Amazon, a Shein tag is added to the clothes to 'personalise' them As to the tracker, it had already been stated in this video that people had intentially put trackers into returned items so whos to say this isn't the same thing 🤷♀️🤷♀️
This is how stinkbugs got to the USA in 2010. They came in on a shipping crate that was never checked. I had a photo from 2013 of when I seen my first stinkbug and had no idea what this strange insect was. It was brand new migration to my state at that time. I am now cursed with them. They breed in my garage and get into my house every year.
@@LenLenBloomz Katy Perry had seeds in her album years ago and international copies are banned in Australia. They had to re-release a different version without seeds
The sad part is to many people, everything behind the scenes doesn't matter. Their $6 poor quality "trendy" pants are more important. Easily 90%+ of the packages I deliver are from TEMU & similar websites. These websites aren't slowing down.
they're the same items from H&M, Forever21, Zara, Urban, etc. all the same drop shipped items under different names. so, even if people stopped using SHEIN and Temu, you still have issues within our own country.
I find it so hard to get my head around people buying from these sites, never mind so many. This is so disappointing to hear. When this world collapses completely finally, it'll be our own fault and our own fault only.
@@tiarneethorpe8848 um ok. How long do your shein purchases last? Have you heard of "cost per wear" ? Not to mention impact on the planet. but sure, more affordable.
Just a friendly reminder to wash your clothes when you buy or receive any. Also peroxide then rinse and repeat twice before washing removes blood, I don’t want bloody clothes but have had to clean blood stains so I’m sharing the advice. I’ve saved my favorite undergarments with that method. 😅
I couldn't imagine anyone keeping clothes items they received with blood on it. Thanks for the tip..White vinegar is great for taking stains out, plus it softens clothes when you use it before your final rinse cycle. I don't use those chemical sheets..in fact I don't use anything with chemicals when washing clothes.
Americans are buying way too many clothes and sending way too many clothes to the landfills. In the college town where I live, the students fill plastic bags with perfectly good clothes, some of them new with tags, and put them in dumpsters. Sometimes the bags even have labels saying, "Clothes to Donate." It was too much trouble for them to drive to a thrift store, so they put the bags in a dumpster. If you can't afford clothes, just check the dumpsters in a college town near you.
It's not just fast fashion from places like Shein causing problems like allergic reactions with consumers... textile/fabric, cosmetic & fragrance industries as a whole aren't regulated enough and they aren't required to disclose exact formulations/ingredients due to trade secrets aka proprietary blend/formulations. Well known brand names can cause just as many problems for consumers. We need more awareness bc many ppl suffer health issues that stem from constant exposure to chemicals found in certain beauty, health & fashion products.
Sustainable shopping is and has been 100% possible for extremely cheap. THRIFT STORES, SECONDHAND, YARD SALES, LEARN TO SEW....come ON people!!! If you watch a couple videos about learning to sew just basics, minor alterations, you can go to any secondhand place and find all sorts of stuff, that will be NEW, once you put needle to cloth for maybe 5-30 minutes. Wouldn't that process be WAY more interesting to watch than just someone trying on clothes and opening boxes?
Concordo plenamente, infelizmente as pessoas andam muito mais acomodadas agora com as compras de fácil acesso pela internet, e até mesmo antes dela, que as pessoas compravam roupas de lojas caras e chiques.
I worked in a retail store in Canada. We had multiple instances of stock coming in bags that were full of mold, bugs, or other substances. Some we were advised not to open and had to be returned to be incinerated. While other times, we had already opened the offending packages at the managements insistence. While this was not from Shein, it was from a manufacturer in China. So much of stock comes from China now. It's scary. We need manufacturers that are here in North America.
America needs to bring back all types of manufacturing... Why are we wearing or using products from foreign countries? No one ever talks about the CO2 created by the cargo ships😢😢😢 or the cargo ships that are lost at sea. Manufacturing would be able to create more jobs in the US like it did in the 70s
@RyosukeTakahashiRX7 workers can be paid well and goods fairly priced as long as executives and CEOs don't take a majority of the cut for the least amount of work
@@RyosukeTakahashiRX7 when we manufactured here, things were affordable companies have led you to believe it would be waaaaay more expensive when it's not true. if there is an increase it would be small offset by the savings in cost of transport. it's all a scam what they're doing now.
its also that some people just doesnt care what they buy or where the buy from as long as its cheap. I have family members who are aware of these problems, the harmful chemicals and heavy metals yet just dont care as long as its cheap, looks cool and fits the season, that household has near a full room of shein clothes that has been worn once since bought and theyre just collecting dust there because its out of season or there was no right time to wear it. some people just truly dont care if they put their own health at risk for fast fashion.
cool story, i have about 8-10 temu shirts and they're basically all i wear because they're literally the most comfortable thing i own. and they were all free.
@dietotaku cool story too, i also have shirts from temu that my mom bought for me, they have the worst material i ever touched, they weren't free but very cheap and has prints that peels off like paper.
i don’t shop at shein but i’m ready for a documentary on nike, apple, etc bc it’s like this sadly everywhere 😢 we need to raise awareness over those companies as well
I work for the largest esoteric laboratory in America. The vile of blood being found in an order is terrifying!! Our specimens have to go through soo many barcode check points, I can’t remember ever losing a specimen and I’ve been there 14 years.
That is truly disturbing... I can't imagine how that would happen. I wore a heart monitor for 10 days and the results, along with the monitor, were sent to a lab in another state. Somehow, it was lost. Really annoying.
I know somebody whose mom was sewing little tracker tags into her clothing without her knowledge... we never found out how long it had been going on, but shortly after the girl got engaged, her mom pulled the future husband aside and advised him to continue spying on her. Luckily, he went straight to my friend with the info, and she went through her clothes- half expecting not to find anything, but also fully believing that, if given the opportunity, her mom would definitely put trackers on some of the cuter dresses and skirts that she'd wear to go out- only to find that MOST of her stuff was tagged. My thought was, maybe somebody in a similar situation unknowingly sent back clothing that was tagged with a tracker, but then you said that it's somewhat of a common occurrence, and that is just creepy...
I hope she filed a lawsuit against her mom, because holy [insert expletive of your choice], that is beyond obsessive. That's horrifying. That's emotional distress, harassment, and stalking. Even if she didn't file a lawsuit, cutting ties is an absolute must. Ain't no way she can have a healthy relationship with the mom after that.
Just so yall know if you buy a big cart full of stuff on SHEIN it’s super annoying because it takes forever to process and then it takes forever to verify and then when it fails to verify and you order a refund it takes forever to load
There is no such thing as quality anymore except in a price range that few of us can afford. That ship sailed years ago when China's cheap ready to wear clothing caused fabric mills and manufacturers across the globe to close.
I grew up dirt poor and we still managed to get new outfits a few times a year. We went to thrift stores, we mended our old clothes, and sometimes we would even update them using spare fabrics. This isn’t just a financial issue, it’s a skill issue.
Girl where I live we don't have thrift stores and plus I'm of smaller build. To find clothes my size in my country is very hard n they tend to be even more expensive. A few months ago I bought a wig from AliExpress this was my very first wig I have ever purchased the smell that came out of that packaging when I opened the wig it was horrendous. And for the life of me I couldn’t understand how a person would put that wig in a shipping bag And ship it thousands of miles all way to me and you can literally smell rotten fish or decaying body from a wig. And on top of all of that I had to send it back because the seller was only trying to give me a third of what I paid for the wig. I had to store this week outside of my home because of how bad it smelled.
Sadly, I fear even Amazon is doing this as well. I see Shein items listed on Amazon all the time! Maybe its irrational.. But it's making me not want to take chances.
They do.... I was looking for padded socks and items for my pets, the socks were like 30$ on amazon, 5 on shein, almost the same prices for the pet items. The same pictures and all Only the prices changed
Because they are third party marketplace sellers from all over the world not affiliated with SheIn. I don't understand what people aren't getting about that. Etsy is doing it now too. Maybe if people actually looked at who they are buying from they wouldn't be having these problems? I don't buy anything online without doing as much research as possible. Even on SheIn. And I have never had a problem. I have had worse issues with things I bought from Walmart and target.
They do. If it’s on temu or SHEIN, it’ll be on Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, etsy etc. you’ll even find some of them on market stalls and being sold by small shops at times. I’ve even found some items for sale at cosplay events
Until we can make the thrift store prices reasonable again people will still buy from SHEIN. The thrifting tend sent thrift store prices through the roof. Walmart items are now being sold for $10-15 when they’re less than that brand new. Not everyone can even afford Walmart prices so how are they meant to afford thrift store prices?
this is my warning and message to everyone saying “i dont have money to buy otherwise!” THRIFT SHOP!! Wash the clothes twice before you wear and enjoy having items that are unique, sustainable, and ALSO LAST WAY LONGER!!! This applies to pretty much every item in life!! Everything can be thrifted!
The last time I bought a brand new Tshirt at the store, the threads pulled out of it and within 2 months it was horribly sagged and unstitched. Never again. Also when you look at the dates on the tags on thrift store clothes a lot of them are from less than 5 years ago anyway.
Used to work for abercrombie and when we would get a new shipment of jeans a terrible toxic dust would come off of them and you could see it in the air and it always made the employees itchy and sneeze. The boxes were always from Taiwan and the jeans ofc were like $120 ea STILL. If you live in the US, be aware there are no regulations for what labor we outsource and most of the factories use toxic chemicals, there's no real way to get around it. A lot of the clothes come from the same factories and are just sold by different stores and for some reason when people get a $60 shirt they feel like they're buying it chemical or stink free. Nope, sweatshops are a global problem and EVERY single one of these businesses is doing everything they can to cut costs.
@taylorbug9 There are genuinely good manufacturers in China, it's not fair to say ALL of them are this bad. To get Shein stuff as cheap as they do, they have to cut corners
@taylorbug9 THANK YOU! If you want to shop ethically all the time, it will be a full-time job, AND you will still be purchasing items that have dangerous chemicals and/or come from sweatshops etc. etc.
The contamination with living bugs, bacteria, or fungus also could lead to the spread of new diseases and invasive species. There are blights and infestations decimating entire species of tree in America due to insects and fungus that came into America from China. You as an individual could have souvenirs and snack items confiscated by customs when returning from abroad for fear of such, and yet China can indiscriminately ship packages of contaminated products to America without it being checked and with no repercussions.
People being shocked that bugs are sometimes in their packaging is hilarious. Most if not ALL items shipped are shipped from a warehouse which means yes, critters can make it from point A to point B. I’ve shopped in malls and have come across obviously formerly tried on merchandise or weird smells. People are disgusting. Get in the habit of washing your stuff before putting them on. Warehouses are creepy and purchasing online will bring surprises at times. It’s not a Temu or SHEIN issue, it’s an issues with shipping and packaging pretty much anything. I once purchased a cell phone and had it shipped to me and upon opening the box a live spider crawled out. A CELL PHONE shipment! 😳 Just use common sense when shopping by any means and practice sanitation when you’re concerned.
I do think that part was a bit silly. Bugs exist. When i buy produce sometimes bugs are in it. That's why you wash it. People are hysteric babies, insects exist and are everywhere.

@ANPC-pi9vu that's just not possible in shipping warehouses like fedex and ups. The volume of packages is too high and they move too fast through the warehouse.
If you're considering buying from these sites because it's cheap, you need to do more looking. For example, Facebook and Craigslist, you can find people giving away clothes. I see a lot of people on my local FB wanting to give away clothes before they consider donating them to Goodwill etc. Personally I find gratification in recycling, reusing etc. And learning how to sew and modify clothing is fun:)
I agree! This is a very good idea! For years my mom has been giving away my old clothes (if they're in good shape of course) to my younger cousins and I think giving them away to family members or friends who might want them instead of you is also a great idea!
The fact that people KNOW these sites use sweatshops and still order from them, post their "hauls" like they're so proud, and buy multiple times a year is disgusting and a little racist. No one would let THEIR kid work in these conditions.
Having to soak brand new boots in vinegar is CRAZY! Instead of shopping a million fast fashion pieces a year, just save up and buy quality pieces that will last years!
Didn’t you mention that people returned stuff to SHEIN with trackers sewn into the clothing to see if they were reselling used clothing? What if that’s what happened to the girl who found the tracker?
I've never purchased anything through temu or shein for a ton of reasons. I see a lot of family channels buying stuff for everyone in their home.. mom, dad, kids, babies, pets.. I'd be worried to have those products in my home.
I bought from them twice! Once last April and then this c mass… last April I got swim wear and they were all new no smell and fine! This year I got some c mass cloths for my kids are everything was fine!
This video made me sick. We need to stay vigilant regarding all clothing really. My husband used a pair of new gloves ordered from Amazon (not Shien), he thought I washed it already and he developed awful rash on his hands. Always wash all items before wearing, whether it’s from Shien or elsewhere.
The trackers couldnt be for thwarting false claims of non delivery, because even if they could know for 100% certain that the package was in fact delivered, they couldnt come out and explain HOW they know.
Clothes is one thing, but why in the world would anyone ever risk buying Shein makeup. That's like going down to the local dump and smearing it on your face (and then get surprised when you get hives). You have no idea what's in it since they have zero quality and safety control mechanisms.
Ye my mum is always buying stuffs off temu and shein. She knows about the warnings but she ignores it as she’s always happy and pleased with the products she gets, them being in most of the time good quality. Tho I’m more skeptical and wary on the stuffs she does buy and give to me
i avoid anything but clothes & earrings/accessories on shein. which i wash & clean before using. clothing tags USED to tell buyers to wash before wear but everyone ignored it to the point of obsoletion. cheap beauty and cosmetic products tend to have issues. like affordable neutrogena makeup wipes burning the skin & excess fragrance in face masks. when you buy from places w high rates of adulterated products.. from a cheap website.. it’s gonna be a roulette until things change legally over there !
The fact that ya’ll are still shopping SHEIN and temu is SICK. If you don’t have a lot of money, go buy second hand. They are overflowing with product.
Dunno where you live, but where I am, second-hand costs twice as much as new clothes from H&M. Not that I ever bought from Temu or whatever, but it's easy to see why some people do.
Some people are addicted to them sadly. I personally know some people that cannot stop, and actually believe they are getting an amazing deal buying a $2 shirt.
I never have!! I figured it was to good to be true 👍...so sad to hear all these stories! Quality over quantity! I've been lucky to get some really nice stuff for decent prices at 2nd hand and consignment shops. Be careful, everyone! 😢❤
I use Temu. ;_; I can't help that their plushies are so cute. ;_; I've only bought one thing I wasn't happy with - no issues like bugs and worms or weird smells. So far I've been lucky! Same with Amazon. Wish I had so many returns/refunds and they took forever to ship so stopped using them. Don't remember if I've ever used Shein? Maybe like once if I did.
This isn't a new thing about smells. I used to work for a small chain of stores called Rainbow. We got a set of suede jackets, and I was pulling them out and putting them up on the rakes. We actually had to put them back in the store room to hold before putting them on the rake because they smelled strongly of vinegar. Luckily, it did dissipate after a few days.
12:59 i’m pretty sure the tracker thing is just about that group of people that tested out whether they were returning the clothes by putting the trackers in
@ they were because then when the packages were opened and put into other packages to be re-sold, the tags weren’t falling out. I watched their video about it. They did sew them in.
@@angelashortall9778 oh sorry, I guess I didn't notice that part then, my apologies. But that still doesn't change the fact that the tag brands are different
You should wash all your new clothes no matter where they come from.
😂 TY
my mom always told me this when i was growing up and shopping. literally from anywhere. always wash them before wearing them even trying them on WASH before anything.
You should make your own clothes ideally
A lot of people order items from Amazon & other sites & dont even realize it's all dropshipped from shein & alibaba.
People don't realise that it goes for many things from clothes to food is made in the same place just a different label and price.
This
Lol yep unless ur buying usa
And temu rubbish as well.
Yep they literally whack it on Amazon for quadruple the price and think they’re being clever.
Absolutely insane to me that people "develop strategies, such as stepping on bags and controlling the items" instead of just not buying from sketchy businesses such as shien. The fact someone willingly buys shien makeup (which i was not aware they sell until now) and puts in on their body is horrifying.
OK THANK GOODNESS SOMEONE IS SAYING THIS, I was really starting to lose hope in humanity for how blatantly people seem to disregard red flags

They need an undercover police investigation! That blood could be illegally trafficked & sent to the wrong customer!
I’m surprised Americans and Canadians can even afford to shop anymore
in july my syphilis blood test was somehow lost and i had to go back and give another sample and seeing this really makes me wonder
I never get results back about my blood tests. Now I’m concerned where those vials are going…
💯
If you can spend $7 on a coffee, you can spend more than $3 on a shirt. Clothes are not supposed to be single-use disposable products, people!
tbf, you can thrift shirts under $3. Much more sustainable and less likely to be full of chemicals. Should still wash them, though.
People buy single use clothes? What😭
I usually buy from shein and i wear the clothes for years, my favourite clothes are from there❤
I stay away from them. If it's really cheap, there's a reason.
"You get what you paid for," is a saying for a reason.
Because the people who make the clothes are slaves being paid pennies
I order from there all the time and it’s some of the best clothing. Just because there are some bad experiences doesn’t mean it’s bad as a whole , I’ve never once of my two years gotten anything dirty or smelly from SHEIN
I've been ordering from them since covid, and I've never had a negative experience with them. No smells, no bugs (dead or alive), no trackers, no food, no vials of blood. NOTHING
I swear this is biochemical warfare and it’s working.

As long as the tags aren’t removed, they can put it back on the shelf.
there is a difference. There is more strict regulation on items sold by our retailers even if it's made in china
Untrue. The regulations you speak of are regarding the actual distribution of the product- not exactly the creation of it@@theewildrose
Bugs in parcels is really worrying for biosecurity’s sake. That’s how you get invasive species
The fish smell might come from Trimethylamine, which is used in dyes. And it's literally produced when a fish begins to rot.

Interesting! That would make sense!

Not all, you just got to shop around and look. But if you are wanting anything cheap yes it'll be plastic.

THIS !!
This is so important. Not shopping, but mindful, sustainable purchases.
Agreed. I also live my life this way.
Where are you buying clothes then? It's hard to find something that's both good quality and affordable.
Agreed!
Literally! I still have a shirt from highschool lol
The problem is, that unless you buy local hand made products, then no matter where you buy stuff, it's probably coming from the exact same factories in china and india...same products just overprised😢
Fr I try to support small businesses now or second hand. Found some great peice last year that survive in the washing machine too.
No it ain’t. It’s not the same at all yes it’s made by some of the places but. Suppliers need to stop cheaping out and if everyone didn’t want a million clothes they could pay a higher price for a better item and buy less jeez. And suppliers can pick where their clothes are made that’s on them
Where is the material used in local hand made products coming from? Factories in China and India?
If you order the stuff directly from china it doesnt fall under your local regulations
@@morbidhime Wear what you enjoy, not what someone else tells you to.

Hence why I don't buy from those stores either, the products seem way too cheap for the prices they charge
@@Amy_the_Lizard Those stores aren't cheap like shein and Walmart, but they are selling the same skeezy sweat factory type stuff. It's not about the price point necessarily, it's all about sourcing and the clothing brands individual standards.

Not the same factories but okay
Realistically the same people that are telling people not to shop from SHIEN are still shopping from Zara,Gucci,Temu,Amazon and more. A lot of people are still buying fast fashion but for a marked up price. Not everyone can afford to support local brands or buy handmade items.

Although I am not defending any of the practices of using chemicals in the production of clothing, I do find it interesting, that it is suddenly becoming an issue in this particular time frame, especially since I can clearly remember these same exact scents being in the clothing of the (seventies). 😅
Washing the clothes won't get rid of all the chemicals
@ better than nothing.
you can clean out blood fairly easy with regular cold water just leave it in a cold bath before putting them in the washer and it should be fine
Laundry soap bar + water and friction and blood gone. Easy.
Wouldn't that process be WAY more interesting to watch than just someone trying on clothes and opening boxes?
no I have zero interest in making clothes, I'd rather wear the same clothes for 5-10 years, I do still have and wear clothes from 10 years ago

What if you buy something at a thrift store or second-hand, and it's Shein?
I worked in a retail store in Canada. We had multiple instances of stock coming in bags that were full of mold, bugs, or other substances. Some we were advised not to open and had to be returned to be incinerated. While other times, we had already opened the offending packages at the managements insistence. While this was not from Shein, it was from a manufacturer in China. So much of stock comes from China now. It's scary. We need manufacturers that are here in North America.
💕💕💕💕 I’m proud to say I’ve never bought from SHEIN or Tumu.

Yes yes YES!
I don't think people could afford $120 basic shirts in this economy, but you do you.

In South Africa,we aren't permitted to return bathing suits, underwear , I think jewellery too ... I figured this was a world wide practice
Nah people got to many rights in the USA the customers and people get whatever they want or they throw a fit
Same in Canada. Those items are biohazards and pose a threat to public health once they've been worn if they are allowed to be returned and resold.
Same in Finland, I don't think it applies to jewelry though
The same is true in Norway. We can return jewelry to jewelers if we have the receipt, but not to other stores.
In the US, it's a store by store policy. Most stores won't let you return underwear and swimsuits, but there's no laws (at least federal) against it.
its also that some people just doesnt care what they buy or where the buy from as long as its cheap.

Oh my gosh that’s scary
Just so yall know if you buy a big cart full of stuff on SHEIN it’s super annoying because it takes forever to process and then it takes forever to verify and then when it fails to verify and you order a refund it takes forever to load
Never Buying Shein. My motto is Quality over quantity. It will literally save you thousands. 💰
There is no such thing as quality anymore except in a price range that few of us can afford. That ship sailed years ago when China's cheap ready to wear clothing caused fabric mills and manufacturers across the globe to close.
@ 🧢 Nope sorry you are wrong.. I buy QUALITY CLOTHES all the time and it last me years and even decades. So please speak for yourself.
I grew up dirt poor and we still managed to get new outfits a few times a year. We went to thrift stores, we mended our old clothes, and sometimes we would even update them using spare fabrics. This isn’t just a financial issue, it’s a skill issue.

Very unlucky :( I have a tremendous wig collection from AE and all of them are so good !
I brought a couple of wigs from Ali. They were really great quality and didn't have strands of hair falling out. It comes down to what buyer you used.
I had extentions that smelled literally like mold, and I guess they had them in there yuck 😢😢😢
Is not as bad as you think because is just dye used for the wig that made it smell so bad.
The same pictures and all
Only the prices changed
yes, Chinese vendors are on Amazon. You might not realize where it's coming from.
Yes, same items on Amazon, for fact. My Swim rash guard on Shein was $15, on Amazon about $35. I like Shein
Futurama warned us about fast fashion, we should have listened 😭😭😭

this is my warning and message to everyone saying “i dont have money to buy otherwise!” THRIFT SHOP!!
This is hilarious! A lot of people get similar stuff from Amazon and Walmart lol
Not only shein but also most clothing industries.
I surely wouldn't let my dog lick an article of clothing that smelled like fish. SMH!
Amazing reporting. Very informative and a must watch.
Here’s a wild idea, don’t shop from these sweatshop websites and you won’t come across any problems. 😮

@taylorbug9 There are genuinely good manufacturers in China, it's not fair to say ALL of them are this bad. To get Shein stuff as cheap as they do, they have to cut corners
@taylorbug9 THANK YOU! If you want to shop ethically all the time, it will be a full-time job, AND you will still be purchasing items that have dangerous chemicals and/or come from sweatshops etc. etc.

TLDR: if the price is too good to be true it's probably toxic junk!
Just use common sense when shopping by any means and practice sanitation when you’re concerned.
I do think that part was a bit silly. Bugs exist. When i buy produce sometimes bugs are in it. That's why you wash it. People are hysteric babies, insects exist and are everywhere.

It is not a racial matter. Plenty of buyers are non white.
Every single brand at every store is from a sweatshop. Nike, under armor , Columbia, everything at Nordstrom, all from sweatshops

The fabric is made in China under even more scary conditions. Wash all fabric thououghly before cutting.
i avoid anything but clothes & earrings/accessories on shein. which i wash & clean before using. clothing tags USED to tell buyers to wash before wear but everyone ignored it to the point of obsoletion. cheap beauty and cosmetic products tend to have issues. like affordable neutrogena makeup wipes burning the skin & excess fragrance in face masks. when you buy from places w high rates of adulterated products.. from a cheap website.. it’s gonna be a roulette until things change legally over there !
The fact that ya’ll are still shopping SHEIN and temu is SICK. If you don’t have a lot of money, go buy second hand. They are overflowing with product.
