You did a great job on the tutorial, I have zero experience in L2D but I think this is going to be a great way to get started with something simple. Turning the model to react opposite to your own is super clever and I imagine will make for some adorable/funny moments!!
This is really cute and cool! Thank you for this tutorial. :D I will certainly be trying this over the weekend as I've been rigging up a model just for fun. Your avatar is also really adorable and has a really cute design. Good stuff!
Ah I am glad you liked it! Hopefully it is helpful, it's quite easy to add more fun stuff and do more complicated models with this as a base as well hehe do good luck with your model!!
stunning work very insightful and analytical truly amazing! i hope you make tutorials like this for normal models too! not over complicated ones or sth but like human ones with lineart!
This was actually a great intro to live 2D. I’ve watched a lot of rigging videos but no one explains basic animations and I get lost. This was a great illustration of the simple parts of the process. Thank you!
Yo! I just found your video, you explain so well everything and the quality of your video is so good I thought you would have lots of subs!! Keep the great work I'm sure many more will see your talent and appreciate what your doing for the community!! thx sm
So my biggest knowledge gap is with how to make the model react to TTS. It seems like this is where VTS P.O.G comes in but it's not really explained what it is, for those who have never heard of it 😅I found I can set up TTS for bits or points in SoundAlerts, can I use that to make the model react?
VTS P.O.G is a program you run separately that handles the TTS. It works as a plug in for VTube Studio so you get the extra parameters to trigger the models mouth movement with TTS. I am not sure if there is a way to do it without using it. VTS P.O.G does have Twitch integration though so you can set up bits and points based triggers in it - eruben.itch.io/vts-pog there should be more info on the page!
Oh sorry I didn't cover that! If you click on the star on the left to bring up the items you can choose "save as live2d item". Then when you open your main model you can find the TTS one in the item list under the star. I hope that makes sense! ruclips.net/video/Pjp9QvQaJhc/видео.html this video explains it!
I haven't used GIMP myself but if you can export the model as a .psd (photoshop document) file then it should work! If you cant export it from gimp like that then you could probably find someone or some free software to do it from!
You could make a parameter in Live2D called "TTS Blink" and then key your blinking onto that instead of the normal blinking parameter. Then in VTube Studio create a new parameter and use the "TTS Blink" as the output and set to Auto Blink. That should work as then your tracked eyes wont interfere with it! There might be a better way to do this but that's off the top of my head!!
If you go to 19:13 and just double check you have set the Mouth Open Input to "VoiceVolume2" and the Mouth Form Input to "VoiceFrequency2". That should stop it tracking your own mouth and only open for TTS :)

this is honestly the best tutorial i've seen for live2d! simply well paced, concise!

this was very helpful i wanna make a tts pet in a base model and wasn't sure how to do it. but this has given me insight on how to go about doing it
quite the in depth tutorial!!! love it! ♥

i have a question is their a way to have your model and the pet at the same time on VTube Studio?
for some reason the bounce doesnt work for me T-T ( edit nvm! i just had to increase the output scale!) amazing tutorial thank you so much!!
I'm glad you got it sorted!! And thank you :3
omg thx you so much i had the same issue😭

Quick question. It is ran in a second VTS session. Or will it work by turning it into a live2d asset?
It should work as a Live2D asset!
What if the Mascot is Connected to the Vtuber model itself? As example: Vtuber girl holding Cat in arms.
You can rig it the same way as in the video! Just make it its own Mouth Open + Form parameters in Live2D and Vtubestudio :)
Good point
So how do u have both on your screen?

Does GIMP work for drawing the model? I'm not sure if it can export to the right file type or if there's any plugins for that or something.

Do you know how to have the blinking set as an animation so it’s not doing the same thing as your main model?

@@chococorneko3031 thank you!!!!!
