I was an 80s kid when I saw this movie. It changed my life instantly. This song haunted me until I found the album. It's all gone. Now we have nothing close. NOTHING
Me too... I saw this film in a movie theater that doesn't exist anymore (Cine Vitoria, in Curitiba City) in the 80´s skipping a class... I was shocked... lol...
You never know what you have until it's gone. Not to say we didn't enjoy the time. But we may not have cherished the time for what it was. The best of times. Sigh. To be young and foolish again. But I wouldn't trade being in my 20's in the 80's for anything.
This movie was so exciting. My God, look at Mickey Rourke, so handsome!!!!! Bryan Ferrry is the best singer of sultry music, ever!!!!!! The eighties were the time for music!!!! 🎶🎶🎶🎶.... 🥀🥀🥀🥀....
This 80s masterpiece puts the likes of Fifty Shades of Grey to shame. I watched it for the first time in my early twenties and was stunned; it remains one of my favorite niche movies. I particularly love the movie's cinematography. The tone is a bit cold and grey, perfectly suiting their toxic and doomed romance. Then there's the scene where they kiss on the street, the woman holding balloons behind her, and you can feel the chilly background light up around them, like a fire set in the rain. The divine 'Slave to Love' performed by the legendary Bryan Ferry is seamlessly woven into the storyline. 'The spring is turning your face to mine...' Spring has come, and so has love. Try as you might to deny it, I bet many of us can relate to at least one aspect of this wicked romance, or whatever you call it. Many relationships don't pan out the way we want them to, leading to nasty discoveries and devastating endings, but the beginning is always marked by euphoria, thrill, and a strong desire to explore the mysterious creature miraculously appearing in our lives, as shown in this movie.
I was in my 20's when this movie came out. Loved it all. I watched this movie a hundred times. The best music, and storyline. At the end Elizabeth couldn't go back to John. He took advantage of her love. John pushed her over the edge when he took in another person. She knew she had to break it off. It was too late because he broke the one rule. Trust. 😥☹️☹️
All of Adrian Lyne's movies are so beautifully shot and always perfectly lit. Say what you want about the 80's, but they knew how to make visually stunning movies back then

One of the best movie lines ever, at the end of their affair: "How did you know I would react to you the way I did?" Kim Basinger "I saw myself in you..." Mickey Rourke
It’s an interesting remark, as ultimately she wasn’t very much like him. In the end he supposedly wanted her love, but throughout he wanted kink. And she went along with it out of curiosity and thrill for him, as women often do, but she wanted love the whole time.
The music played a huge part in this film. From the beginning when the credits start creeping up in red in a black background to just 30 seconds of Al Green's Love & Happiness then jumps into Luba's Best is yet to Come....jack Nitsze's Love Theme throughout in key moments.....the beautiful scene when they're shopping in Soho to Eurasian Eyes...and finally Luba again in the outro credits singing Let it Go....again while the credits roll. I cannot listen to those songs ever without feeling raw emotions as I feel when watching this film repeatedly. 35 years later and it is still raw emotional pain. We are a product of our times so I appreciate 9 and a Half weeks but I have serious doubt about 50 shades of buttcrack being able to arouse the feelings we experienced during Elizabeth and John's love affair.
I was 17, working at United Artist theatre. I walked in and sat down to watch this movie on my break. Whoa! I ended up watching it 6 times during 2 weeks! This is how a good romantic movie should be. Good story lines, good actors, good music. Love and sex can be expressed in so many different ways. But, it should be about pleasure, not pain. S & M may be normal sexual variation, just not for me. As for Mickey R. Yes, he was so freaking handsome in this movie. It breaks my heart to see him now. Common MR, so you fell off the wagon, get back on. Weight gain is not an absolute. We’re you not once a wrestler? Get a personal trainer, eat healthy and get back on track. I’m 51, but I’m healthy and look like I’m in my late 30’s. The passion and feelings are ageless. Many of my 70 plus friends tell me so too. Oh, in the movie “The Thorn Birds” with Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Barbara Stanwyck. Barbara Stanwyck said to Richard Chamberlain. She was mad at God for making her old, but still gives her the passion of a young woman. Before anyone says Yuck, we all will get old, trust me. But, like the songs says (Young at Heart)”You get the best part, if you are young at heart.”

The Original 50 Shades of Grey, when will someone else agree on this, they think its all new, and its not....its all been done before, and I must say, the 80s did it better, now its gone a little bit to far....and Rourke was the first Christian Grey...
I agree w u completely! 80s were Special n this is the OG right here along w Secretary James Spader! This music is the Best! Cnt nvr get enough of this movie n music! 👍
And the music in 9 1/2 weeks is far better...:-) J'ai vu les films j'ai la musique des deux et la musique de 50 Shades N,appuie pas aussi bien les scènes et ne reste de pas graver ds la tête des gens...:-( And no nice striptease...;-) Only Annie Lennox and Skylar Grey are good..and one with Beyonce..:-( But all the tastes are in the nature...;-)
Mickey Rourke was so handsome in this film, at the top of his game and one of my favorite movies No matter how many times I´ve watched this video.....just love it more as I do.
My All-Time-Favorite- Movie, my All-Time-Favorite-Song. They shall play it at my funeral someday. Kim & Mickey forever. So grateful ... that I could visit most of the location spots in NYC in the early 90's, 2011 and 2017 ...
No matter how many times I´ve watched this video.....just love it more as I do. i had a relationship likethis once.Ladies should try it at least once in a lifetime. 80's music the best.
40 years this movie has... it's like a painting to me... The woman who wrote the semi-biographical book on which the movie was based - I cannot help but wonder about the shock and pain she must have gone through... Would definitely have liked to talk to her over a coffee and listen to her story. I am grateful to this movie and to its creators' hard work. Our stories bring us closer as humans. And art is a like a window to these stories...
OMG. These two shall leave their stamp of LUSTforever in my subconscious. I am a senior citizen now but was a young and gorgeous woman when this movie came out. My goodness. Like I stated. These two. 4:31 No one has ever replaced what they did so damn well The music. I listen to that in the old bats home and DREAM 😊
Hell yes. Fifty Shades of Grey is a blatant rip off and cannot hold a candle. Sorry 80's did it better with better acting and better soundtrack. It's now a classic.
Every time I watch this video my heart skip beat looking at Micky Rourke what beautiful looking man he was
The music goes extremely well

100% agree. Beautiful song. "Lady In Red" got all the attention, but this song is superb.
Bryan Ferry takes his music very seriously man. Check out his "Avalon" album with Roxy Music. It's very similar to this.

I agree w u completely! 80s were Special n this is the OG right here along w Secretary James Spader! This music is the Best! Cnt nvr get enough of this movie n music! 👍
Jocelyn Shen the music made the movie 9 1/2 weeks what is was and still is, a classic, '50 Shades of Opinion' I'm afraid won't be...
***** yes! Sexy music and sexy movie! Definitely, a sexi /sensual classic part 2 was alright tho.
And the music in 9 1/2 weeks is far better...:-) J'ai vu les films j'ai la musique des deux et la musique de 50 Shades N,appuie pas aussi bien les scènes et ne reste de pas graver ds la tête des gens...:-( And no nice striptease...;-) Only Annie Lennox and Skylar Grey are good..and one with Beyonce..:-( But all the tastes are in the nature...;-)
corpusien i def adore the soundtrack and music so epic! 👍👍
Mickey Rourke was so handsome in this film, at the top of his game and one of my favorite movies
No matter how many times I´ve watched this video.....just love it more as I do.
What a music at the start. Spellbounding... Magical... Video adds extra flavour... It's march 2023 but still so captivating...
Young Mickey Rourke was perfection!
2023…. Still watching….😊
M.R. was the perfect actor for that part
I had a love like this. nothing will ever compare, solitude. x
Great song and amazing album. Still sounds very modern today
Definitely! Great song makes you want to have sex very sexy
Ohhhh saudade.
I am lost in my past, we still shine
Superb visual idea, I absolutely love this song. Bryan Ferry has supreme talents for style and passion/love ...
Wow

So romantic!
My All-Time-Favorite- Movie, my All-Time-Favorite-Song. They shall play it at my funeral someday. Kim & Mickey forever. So grateful ... that I could visit most of the location spots in NYC in the early 90's, 2011 and 2017 ...
This song is so powerful makes me want to dance, And New York City blendes perfectly with the Song ❤ A masterpiece.
One of the sexiest movies ever. Periodt.
Mickey Rourke was the real Christian GREY.
So what do you do with that ?
Actually, I think James Spader takes the gold a Grey in Secretary.
Mickey is the King of erotic. That voice and that swag. No contest.
What a pity that their story didn't end to a marriage...It's a lot like life nowadays ;(
Mickey Rourke is much more better than boring Christian Grey
"would you please come back by the time I count to fifty? One..." - one of the movies that are understood only by people who can identify with it.
i can identify and lived it!!!! Mis Lily
Mickey is a boxer, he was upset of being a s*x symbol, so he change his look ;(
what kind of a man he was?? Just look at his smile!!Oh Mickey, what did you just do???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
+Kateryna Kolomiiets he had also a boxing career!
+Kateryna Kolomiiets his smile will float forever in your hearts ...
classic film should have won oscars
Cheers to Bar "Heartbreaks" the day I saw you in that corner how time stood still. Thank you my Wildheart for the tender and crazy times!!
Who is still jamming this 80s classic, I know I am in 2019. ✅❤️🙌💯
2020 now...

Bryan Ferry on voice , David Gilmour and Mark Knofler on guitars . What a great song .
My god Mickey Rourke was gorgeous.
❤
I can't wait for another concert to listen to your beautiful music Bryan!!
I agree. 50 shades feels high school and cringy compared to 9 1!/2 weeks.
I'll always love this song..and movie
Merci les musiciens britanniques pour votre talent éternel, thank you Brian ferry for your talent immortel ❤

80's music the best.
Kim Bassinger was (@this time) one of the most beautiful woman in the world.
William A. Roesler I wish she was in the sequel but her character was killed off Spoiler alert
Yes so true
Yes, Kim Basinger was so beautiful and sensitive :)))
This takes me back in time .... love the chemistry between Kim and Mickey very very sensual
This is a movie that will always stay with me , love it❤❤❤❤❤
The most beautiful love story movie ever!
in the art of sedução this film is the best
That's exactly what I keep saying.... I love this movie and watch it all the time....
Hello Olga
How are you doing?
It's a pleasure to have you here!
She committed suicide, I believe...
OMG. These two shall leave their stamp of LUSTforever in my subconscious. I am a senior citizen now but was a young and gorgeous woman when this movie came out. My goodness. Like I stated. These two. 4:31
No one has ever replaced what they did so damn well
The music. I listen to that in the old bats home and DREAM 😊

One of the best movies ever! ❤
This song is a mind orgasm!!
Roxy music
@@rolandszutis6929 True!
Hell yes. Fifty Shades of Grey is a blatant rip off and cannot hold a candle. Sorry 80's did it better with better acting and better soundtrack. It's now a classic.
