Wow! I had an incredible experience with that same passage in the book. I was wondering how this guardian was available when needed. Like, what if I ate the plant (mushrooms ?) and there was no gnat or insect around to be the guardian? At that very moment a gnat landed on the page!! On the exact spot my eyes were reading. As if to say, "Don't worry about how it works. We got you covered." Still blows my mind to this day.
