Here’s a semi-related idea that might be useful for people: replacement of wheel studs (lug “bolts”). I recently had to replace two on one front wheel on a 2021 Subaru. In more than fifty years of turning wrenches on vehicles, I’d never had to replace one of these. It turned out to be almost comically easy. Keep up the great videos!

That is a great video idea. Thank you for the suggestion, and for watching!

@@HowtoAutomotive Hope the new gig is working out well. The lug bolts/studs were almost as easy as changing a tire. Must-have tools: brake caliper hangers, tie rod press, 1/2” Dr torque wrench. Nice to have: the little donut stud installer, but you can fake it with a stack of washers or even the brake rotor on a 4W DB vehicle. Important reminder: do *not* set the parking brake unless you’re sure that it won’t operate on the wheel that you’re going to work on because the caliper (assuming 4W DB) won’t want to come off. The caliper pistons closed up just enough to make it hard to put the calipers back on, problem solved with a clean short piece of 1x2 pine. Hardest part was finding room to use the torque wrench with the vehicle 3/4 on the ground, much easier under a lift. Use the torque wrench religiously on the lug nuts, the odds are high that the stud broke because someone fell asleep while using an impact wrench. Tighten to snug in a star pattern then use the torque wrench in the same pattern…and probably shouldn’t hammer the studs out unless the vehicle is an F350? I can envision people damaging wheel and/or suspension parts while banging on a rusty fastener.

Top notch contents but would’ve been benefited by a better set of camera, mics and edits. Your channel deserves much more recognition.

I have had to redo a couple DIY brake jobs done wrong. The brake pads were installed incorrectly, backwards metal to metal.Alsp check for brake fluid leaking out of the piston area.Have replaced calipers because brake fluid leaking out of the brake caliper piston bores.

Hopefully this video helps people out so that doesn’t happen to them.
