Looked lovely Lee and it was good to see Dave. Great service really makes a place shine and credit to Amy in that department.
Maybe the Amy factor scored those fish and chips a tad higher than they deserved? Dave looked like he actually enjoyed the sausage and mash.

The chips looked amazing. Nice to see proper peas for a change. Fish also looked good. Ten plus definitely. Didn’t think much of the sausage and mash.

The last 2 fish and chip reviews have been haddock, and they've both been great. Slowly but surely the world is converting Lee into a haddock eater. It's the superior fish.

C'mon Lee , those garden peas were bullets you could see how they had started to 'shrink' 8.16 min , but the green beans on Dave's plate looked really good .
Marstons pubs used to be Banks's of Wolverhampton, worked on the food supply chain for those pubs in the past at a depot in wednesbury and I can confirm everything was delivered as fresh as possible, even went collecting meat prepared for them by the same people who supply Hilton Hotels
We go to our local Marstons, with hotel and charging points! My other half likes the fish and chips, incidentally I had scampi, 12 pieces on the full menu, but only 6 on the light bites/lunch so I should think there would be 3/4 sausages on the main meal. They have a carvery in ours as well which is good apparently.

Ok, for me Regent Circus in Swindon was a brilliant take away in the 60's (I almost missed the first Dr Who episode, but caught it the next week), 2nd Lee's take away in Wotton Bassett in the 80's had people queuing outside before they opened, when I worked in Albany NY the Old English Pub served great fish n chips plus a nice real British pint of Old Speckled Hen and finally for me, in Montreal Brit n Chips at 433 Rue McGill comes with a beer and they also queue outside even though it can be -20deg C with the wind chill, and I also had fish n chips at the N2 restaurant in Taiwan, not too bad and run by a Brit called Nigel and his wife

Both those meals look great. I will have to visit a Marstons pub again at some point. I remember the other Marstons pub you went to with Geoff was pretty decent as well.

i see the marstons down there have lamb in the mixed grill ....not in the Ravenscliffe in motherwell your fish looks better that the minnows they serve up here

I love a Marstons. We found one by chance on a holiday on the Isle of Wight and it was just great pub grub... then they open one near us... its one of our regular nights out.
If that was the light bite I don’t think I could have eaten the big bite

Err indoors and myself stayed there for 3 nights a few years ago ,the staff were excellent,the food was good,andthe room was clean.would defently stay there again

You might want to find a Chef&Brewer pub to try their newish Lunchtime menu. They stuck an ad on Facebook and it's received a lot of criticism....mainly because it features a toasted cheese sarnie at £8.99 !! Yep, £8.99 for cheese on toast. That doesn't inc any drink what so ever. We await your valued opinion , just so long as you don't mention EV's

I'd have definitely had the sausage and mash meal here, it looked absolutely lovely, just what I like. The fish and chips looked ok, but there isn't really a comparison between the two to be had. Lovely pub too, would certainly visit there if I were around the area.

Well that's a destination place to stay for a trip ashore for two or three days, want to explore that area anyway and the double rooms are reasonably priced and look vert clean and smart. Thanks for the tip Mac.
Everyone reckons Australia is dear but I can get Fish and Chips at Watsons Bay Hotel, which is right on Sydney Harbour with a view to match and is the "posh" place to go to for fish and chips, for $32.00, (£16.00 equivalent). That is considered expensive here...
Marston’s Three Witches is literally 5 minutes from my house in Inverness, always been really friendly and excellent service, but they really struggle to keep their staff. Every time I go in, it’s always new staff, which is such a shame. Food always been really good, they used to do the carvery roast, but doesn’t seem to have been used since the dreaded Covid outbreak

The grub looks good value a good portion of Fish but you cannot avoid frozen chips in pub chains something we have to accept as a slight downside.
